isaac also attributes his strong throwing arm, reportedly being able to throw the ball 78 yards flat footed, to throwing 1–2 pound rocks at coconuts up to 70 feet high hanging from the trees. He would eventually develop enough strength and accuracy to knock down five or six coconuts in a matter of five minutes according to his own account.[2]

unstoppable!

did I or did I not call that in the trade deadline thread! I did. oh yeah!

Low risk, high reward trade. Exactly the type of trade coach Belichick makes.

As I said in the trade countdown thread - they got a good run stuffer which exactly is what the defense was sorely lacking in. Thanks, Chip & Howie!

My reaction: Can we now please give Jake Bequette a warm bon voyage party and wish him well in his futrure endeavors?

Probably means that Forston is gone again more than Bequette.

Some times it just makes too much sense.

Re: Eagles trade Isaac sopoaga and a 6th to patriots for a fifth rounder

These are 2014 picks not 2013.

I would hope so since the 2013 draft was seven months ago and the Pats didn't have a fifth rounder in that draft.

Nice! Kelly, Sopoaga, Vellano. Bring in Jones in passing situations.

I like it. Priority should be addressing our run defense issues above all else. All it took was moving down a round so still some ammo left if we choose to continue. Now lets go get Gonzo!

When you think about it, we probably aren't even moving down a full round. Eagles 6th round pick will probably only be about 10-15 picks after our 5th...

What's his cap for next year? Seems the eagles board is saying 3.5m. So half year rental?

edit: opps. 3.75m next year. No way we'll pay that.

Amazing tidbit: less then 10 minutes after this trade was announced, Wikipedia had him as a New England Patriot.

Aren't you one of the guys that usually expresses the "he's only a 2nd year player, give him a chance" person ?

Some Eagles fans are saying he sucks and they're happy they even got anything for him. He's definitely underwhelmed this season but he was pretty solid with the Niners. Scheme fit had a lot to do with it, but I think Sopoaga can be a solid contributor as a run stuffer.

Actually before the deal was announced, when Schefter reported rumors Wikipedia already had him as a Patriot.

I am sure if they keep him, they will redo his deal. I still think Big Vince may have played his last down with the Pats and Sopoaga may be a stop gap between him and his eventual replacement.

Pretty slow, actually.

Why would we jettison a 265 lb. pass rush DE because we signed a 330 lb. run stuffing nose tackle?

$1M guaranteed next year.

Yeah.. You called it all right. About 30 seconds before all the pundits started posting that the Pats were interested.

Sorry, but your "calling it" falls right in with everyone else who said the Pats would pick up a DT and had been predicting it for the last couple of weeks..

We get Sopoaga for slipping down roughly 10 picks (hopefully), from late in the 5th round to somewhat high in the 6th round.

What is not to like, even if it's an 8 game rental?
