A cause for celebration after today's debacle....

There really is no cause for celebration--lousy loss--but yes, it's good there were no injuries.

The positive to take from this is perspective. The Pats haven't won a Super Bowl for 10 years--this loss doesn't make that task feel appreciably harder to me. The Pats will win the division, and if the guys that are left are healthy, they'll have a shot. All you can ask for.

This is the ninth season since SB39.

Also, the ratbirds just got another loss handed to them... :)

Still not a cause for celebration as the pats played down to the level of the jets

100 penalty yards? :bricks:

you can tell by the way people post after the second loss of the year by a division-leading team that the pats went 15-1 in their three championship seasons. haha oh wait

Allen, ghost, slater, Edelman - our specialists are all awesome.

IMO it all comes down to Tom Brady. He needs to seriously improve his play. If he does we could be a contender, if he stays the same way we are screwed. The defense can't save him any longer especially if Talib isn't back ASAP.

His accuracy has been bad all season. He had all day to throw on some plays and flat-out missed people. Maybe some of them they ran the wrong route, but seems unlikely to be the only explanation.

Ghost hit a big FG so people probably won't be asking for competition for him...yet.

If the big thing I have to worry about is that Brady guy quitting, I think we'll be fine.

On the Patriot's side

1 C Jones - 2 sacks
2 C Jones - 2 sacks (and one of them is a rookie)
3 Dennard - loved the pass defended, this time he got it!
4 The Kickers -- rock solid
5 Gronk is back and ready to rumble - just a few tuning adjustments between him and #12
6 Despite the loss of our top 3 defenders we almost pulled it off.

On the Jets side

a) the offense will be thinking that they are better than they are
b) Cro is looking vulnerable and still rarely tackles (only 1 today)

In General

1) Its only week 7 and we can only get better

(now to find the thread on Cause for Concern to balance this out).

rex ryan will be coming back to the jets next year. That makes me happy.

That and the concerns that the Jets will be in position to draft a Clowney or Bridgewater type of "can't miss" talent are pretty much non-existent now.

I'd have bitten your bloody hand off for 5-2 at this stage having to play the Bengals, Falcons and Saints all in one stretch.

Chill. This team has been crippled. Both defensive captains are done for the year including our MLB signal caller! This week was going to be tough on the D and it wasn't all bad. What didn't help was, once again, the offence couldn't stay on the field and give them a break through the second half.

This offence will improve. Brady is struggling because quite frankly his O Line isn't blocking anyone and he has players he's unfamiliar with. Gronk looked great...once Vereen is back in the mix and some of the pressure comes away from the rookies, I'll be very optimistic.

We didn't lose any players to injuries....

/end sarcasm

Come on people cheer up.... Post here any positives you DID see in the games, or any positives going forward.

Cheer up! It's just week 7.... Long road to go, and given our injuries, I doubt it can get any worse. We played a top defense and they won, but let's put everything into perspective.

GO PATS!

The Kool-Aid is fine here.

Also, I thought someone on the game thread said they had an easy schedule going forward but I don't see that:

@Bengals
Saints
@Bills
@Ravens
Dolphins
Raiders
@Panthers
Browns
@Dolphins

I only celebrate wins. We do not celebrate a loss to the jets....ever.

Positives....3 hours of free entertainment
Negatives.....commercials
Positives.......Gronk boosting fantasy teams
Negatives....Brady killing fantasy teams
Positives.....Brady bringing back #2 hair clippers

I wouldn't say it has been bad, I would say it hasn't been consistent and classically Tom Brady. It's like he is experiencing pain during certain throwing motions. Not saying that he is, but saying that he could be.

Typically when threads like this pop up in the regular season, we find out in the off season that he was playing with some injury. I wouldn't be surprised.

Thanks for the lesson, guy who joined up this week. :D

The Kool-Aid is fine here.

Most teams are not capable of surviving such devastating hits to their top talent positions.

The anchor and heart of our Defense is out for the season.

Our backup anchor is out injured.

Our best CB was out of the game.

Our best LB and best tackler is out for the season.

Our best WR is out of the game.

Our best TE played his first game of football on Sunday after being injured for what six months and after having had 4 surgeries.

Thompkins is a rookie.

Dobson is a rookie.

Boyce is a rookie.

Collie has been with this team for two weeks.

The Jets and the League had to ambush the Patriots with a never before called penalty to even win the game.

(To mention nothing of our off-season talent losses of Welker and Mr Wanna Be Breaking Bad).

---

Is the above list a list of Excuses?

No. Its a list of REASONS why Brady and the Patriots aren't playing their best football.

We are 5 and 2 despite all of this. The Broncos are 7 and 1.

Its not Kool-Aid to show love for your team when they are beaten and battered as badly as this.
