Re: Force the ball to Gronk much?

What other option does he have? Aren't Thompkins, Dobson, and Edelman in the top 5 of most drops in the league?

Three receivers on one team in the top 5?

I'd be clinging to Gronk like a shipwrecked sailor clinging to a spar, too.

You would rather throw to a double-covered TE instead of a wide-open receiver because he dropped the ball two weeks ago?

C'mon.

Refs won the game for the Jets

Pats lost the game because the O line was getting dominated, they lost the time of possession category, the rookies don't know the rules of the game and the fact the offense is as bad as I have ever seen since Brady joined the team.

Brady is on par to get about 16 TDs this season.

In all my years of watching football, I've never seen that call. I didn't even know it existed.

Not only was it a bizarre call, but pushing a player upfield had zero effect on that play.

My only thought is that a referee's call should never dictate the outcome of a game, but this one did.

The worst part was the flag was pulled out as soon as Jones touched the other guy's butt. If Jones was running a stunt, you can't even touch the guy next to you?

I think Brady's struggles come from a combination of things: the revolving door of talent on the offensive side of the ball (that is, not consistent in practice/games), the loss of his mechanics coach, and general frustration.

Re: Re: The official Pats-Jets post-game thread

I was in a loud bar down here in Maryland watching today's game.

So my one question I have is - - on the Bolden reception down to the 2 yard line late in the game, what was the Patriots penalty on the offesettings?????

Trying to run a slant, getting jammed and being in the way of the defender chasing the inside guy

Gronk got jammed alot today. Ugly.

Re: Force the ball to Gronk much?

did thompkins make the trip? Collie?

We've seen enough of this season to know that the rookies and Brady are not on the same page. Still, it's laughable reading people saying it's the fault of the rookies or they ran the wrong route or they slowed down when it's abundantly clear on TV that Brady simply missed the throw. Unfortunately, 2013 has fast become a theme with Brady missing throws. I still love the guy, but he's nowhere near his best this season.

It's true. Brady's accuracy on deep balls in particular, but also short-intermediate throws, has been so far off that I really wonder if he's injured

Would you rather BB choose Steve Beauharnais or Dane Fletcher or Chris White to play in coverage?

It's hard to blame Hightower or Belichick... The Mayo injury was always going to be tough.

BB drafted Hightower and put him in that role. I'm a big Hightower fan but he needs to be an MLB who at most drops into zone coverage. If BB wants a LB who can cover in man, he should be drafting a faster smaller guy, not a slower 270 lber.

This forum is unbearable after a loss.

Interior lineman on both sides of the ball blow. Brady locked on to Gronk. But most importantly:

WHY did the Pats not run the ball on the tying drive in the end if regulation? Three TOs means you can stop the clock as soon as the play is over.

Didn't they start that drive with two runs?

They did run the ball. Then they got short on time. Plus the jets line was killing us. Would have lost in regulation if they ran the ball more on that drive.

The Patriots defense is missing both of its NFL starting-level DTs. It's missing it's best LB, who happens to be the only LB capable of covering against the pass. It's missing its CB1, which leads to the CB3 and S2 being exposed.

The Patriots offense is missing it's best WR. It's dealing with a TE who's playing his first game of the year. It's missing it's only RB receiving weapon. It's got a pair of rookie WRs who are inconsistent, at best, and who struggle mightily against man coverage. It's got a center who is not starting quality going against an excellent pair of DTs. It's got a LT who's been struggling for much of this young season.

.

Yea yea but there were several throws that a good number of QBs would have made that Brady simply didn't make. Part of being a good team is having depth. We could have beat the Jets but our QB didn't really do his part.

All this, and the team is coming off a last-second win in an emotional game, against an excellent opponent.

With that in mind, why were people posting as if they were shocked that this game was a struggle and ended in a loss?

Now, having done that, I'll just make one quick rant:

It took an offseason of incredible incompetence on the part of the "GM" to get this team to the point where the greatest offensive lineups in history have turned into this steaming turd.

Congrats Bill! You've taken the best team in the league and turned it into a mediocrity, in just one season. I sure as hell hope your changes improve by the factor of about 1000 that they'll need to in order to get this team just back to where it should have been.

Give me a ******* break. Thompkins and dobson are good deep threats that are stuck with playing with a quarterback that sucks at throwing deep.

No guarantee that the Patriots win even with the missed FG.

Such an odd call. In OT, we've seen calls NOT made that are made during regulation. Here a call is made for the first time all season in OT. Also, 15 yards seems pretty excessive for pushing your own teammate. Really NFL? That's what you want to cut down on?

5-2. Another big game next week.

Made for the first time ever, actually

So you're blaming BB for drafting a good player and playing him at a secondary position due to injury and circumstance?

Do you not see how your logic is faulty?

edit: There's plenty of stuff I like to blame BB for but this just isn't one of them.

If pushing a teammate through/into the pile is a 15 yard personal foul, why hasn't it been called on at least 50% of run plays this year? They mentioned it being a payer safety issue. If this is true, call it every play, not when meaningless on a fg attempt. We got jobbed today. That questionable catch def made contact with the ground pet my slowmo dvr replay. How that doesn't get reviewed is an insult to the idea of replay. Kind of like leaving in a Baltimore db after he clearly throws a ref in an after the whistle altercation. But this is the Goodell nfl. Inconsistent.

It is one of a series of long-snapper protection rules put into effect in the last few years. This one was added this year. It is only in effect on FGs.

Roger Goodell doesn't make the rules. The owners do, with input from the competition committee, which has zero league office membership.

They did, but they stopped doing so in Jets territory when the Jets were dropping EIGHT into coverage.

And I stand by the olines fault. Brady was getting hit and sacked alot this game. Of you get sacked 8times, do you trust your OL to hold the pocket for the wr's to open ? I wouldn't, I would go to a big reliable target. And gronk wasn't reliable.

even with the rookie excuse...brady blows this year....he needs to step it up If this team wants to go anywhere. If you can't beat the jets...good luck with teams like Denver and hell even the Bengals

What a difference a week makes. Brady is fine. This is a team game.

Brady would have won the game sans the "pushing your own player call". This rule makes zero sense.

Looks at Lavonte David and Bobby Wagner

*cries

Great call on the FG by the officials..surprised they had to guts to toss the flag but props to them for sticking by the rule book..great exciting game all around though

The broadcast kept showing Brady flexing and massaging his right hand, especially between the middle and ring fingers. At one point, he was showing that spot to Josh McD. I hope it's not an injury. This might (MIGHT) be an explanation for the bad throws.
