I agree with you about not kicking someone when he's down.
...................unless he loudly and continually chirps a request to do so.
IMHO you are leaving out some important parts of the picture. But ignoring the obvious is each person's prerogative.
Again, word. It's one thing to be respectful and help a neighbor when he's down on his luck. these things happen, and it's a mark of our humanity and humility when we do such things. Hell, it's what we should ALL be doing.
BUT..... and this is the difference, it's an entirely different situation when your neighbor refuses to do anything about his situation. When he refuses to listen to good advice. When he continues down the same path day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year. Hope is NOT a strategy OR a solution. You have to analyze the situation objectively and work on a solution.
The JESTS owner, FO staff, Coaches, players & fans are like many of the folks I see at our soup kitchen, food bank, and other outreach programs. They are in bad straights, but have just enough to get by on. They complain about a LOT of things, about the unfairness of their situations, of not getting enough assistance, and all other sorts of things, when there ARE jobs available. maybe not great jobs, but jobs that would at least give them the personal satisfaction of doing SOMETHING to help themselves, rather than being a loafer on public assistance and content to wallow in their own sorrows and mediocrity.
THAT is where the JESTS are. their entire organization, right down to the fans. They seem to me to be like the junkie, the addict, who goes through rehab every now and then, feels better, then promptly starts back on the booze or drugs. Every now and then they win a lotto prize, then blow it on crap rather than use it to help get themselves OUT of where they are.
So yeah. I have pity for the JESTS children involved but for the adults, not a whit anymore.
