That's incredible... I didn't even realize this had happened.

If I'm not mistaken, the broadcasters had also given the Pats a L. They didn't actually update the standings graphics, but they said the Patriots had fallen to 4-2 and were talking about how next weeks' win in NY would be critical for the division.

I remember being surprised because the Patriots had clearly lost the momentum of the game and by all means seemed cooked from an emotional standpoint, but doing the math on the downs and timeouts, I couldn't believe they were calling it a loss. I've seen teams have more improbable comebacks than driving 80 yards in a over a minute, especially in today's NFL.

Since I don't make a habit of watching Sheli floundering around, what's the story behind this?

I believe the Giants had a chip shot field goal at the end of the game for the win. Shockey's celebration turned out to be premature as the field goal was missed. I'd have to google to get more details as that's all I remember.

The Ryan's are clowns. Rob is a bigger clown than his brother. I wish he had a head coaching job just to watch his team implode.

Aikman is a douche, I can't believe they didn't pick up on this at all.

Then as the Pats are marching down the field he's babbling about how Ryan must be upset because the D did their job twice and the offense didn't do anything. God forbid his defense has to play the whole game.

I want to print this out and put it on the door of every person in my office tomorrow.

If the Saints boards are any indication, they'll be ready with their built in, timeless referee excuses.

They haven't lost a game since 2009 that wasn't the refs or Goodells fault. This from a franchise that was marched down the field by the refs in OT of the NFC title game and hell I was at that game rooting for them.

Umm... as to this "disrespect"....

Wasn't that just a rookie holding onto the ball from the first TD catch of his career and celebrating that TD catch with teammates? I don't think that they were celebrating the game being "over"

It may have been a little over exuberant, but I imagine most WRs would keep the ball on their first TD catch.

You mean when the refs missed that offensive PI on the Kenny Stills TD against Dennard? Or maybe the helmet to helmet hit on Amendola? Oh wait, they mean something else. :)

They're screaming about holding on the final play as if their line wasn't holding all game long.

Look at the time stamp: that was their D celebrating the INT they thought had sealed the game.

The screenshot they use makes it look bad, but watching the play, that was never going to get called for holding. Not in New England, not in New Orleans, not on Mars.

The false start call was bad, and they're chirping about the Brees INT play, which was FUBAR, but it's not the Pats fault that the Saints weren't ready for the play, took a snap a second or two after the play should've been dead, and then threw a pick. Kudos to the Pats D for playing it as it lies because they could have been just as disoriented by that exchange, and they weren't.

I particularly enjoy their argument that the hit Jenkins had on Edelman was the exact same as the Gregory shot on Sproles, when Gregory's hit was a textbook body shot and Jenkins made helmet to helmet contact. Funny, they don't mention the Amendola play at all.

The only plays they have a legit complaint about are the no TO call and the false start. That said, they were up 4 points with 1:20 to go and couldn't close it out. Blaming the refs is convenient and a way to deflect blame from their own teams failures.

Not to sound blunt here - but come on, cut a little slack - last year was an incredibly rough year with Bountygate, no Payton, a defense that gave up the most yards in the history of the NFL, etc.

It wasn't like they went into the middle of the field to celebrate and taunt the opposing team - if anything this defense has done a 180 from last year, and it looks like a big weight has been taken off of their shoulders. Ryan is a much better DC than everyone gives him credit for - he was the scapegoat in Dallas(and as you can see, Dallas players have responded worse to Monte Kiffen's simpler bend-but-don't-break schemes). Those late game lapses those 2 years were largely b/c Jason Garrett has trouble managing games and making adjustments(as much flack Wade Phillips got, he did very well doing just that). You saw it in the SD game 2 weeks ago - Dallas went up by 11 late second half, and they got blown out from thereon. Ditto the Denver game last week when they took a 7 pt lead in the 4th qtr.

As for blaming the refs - typical MMQB overreaction - pretty much everyone gets blamed. A week from now, no one will think about it.

Hey I get that and you guys are probably the only fan base that hates Goodell as much or more than we do due to the Bountygate stuff but as Lawyer Milloy once said when another black and gold team assumed a victory by having their bags packed "You don't do that to the Patriots."

Not trying to start trouble, I just really am curious........

I think it was silly to celebrate the victory ONLY because the game was still somewhat in doubt. I actually wouldn't have a problem with them celebrating if it was clearly in their hands.

For instance, did posters here have an issue with the Celtics celebrating on the sidelines with a Gatorade bath during their 2008 clincher? I didn't have a problem with it just because the game was well in hand. Perhaps the fact that it was a championship clincher also helps.

100% Pats fan here but I can see why they would be a bit perturbed at the false start call AND the Jenkins hit on Edelman. I saw it as a guy just 'playing defense'. I actually think it's a shame that it IS a penalty.

At the same time, I think the Dobson offensive pass interference call was atrocious thought too. And that was a big play. So it went both ways.

To be frank - regardless of how the officiating is, the games are won b/c of which team makes the plays, plain and simple. If an official makes a bad call, then the only thing teams can do is just to ignore it and move on.

The Saints have a bye week - so 2 weeks from now all of this will be forgotten.
