Gronk likely to play vs Saints

I don't see why this is such an event of penultimate importance. I watched the game in Cincy...I saw a QB visibly angry and sitting alone, throwing wrong reads, throwing wobble duck INT's. I saw an offensive line that certainly lived up to the dictionary description of offensive. I saw one rookie continue to catch balls with his body, and once again having drops, another rookie WR make the right cut then the wrong cut then the right cut then the wrong cut, I saw Edelman blubberbumble a sure TD in the endzone, I saw Danny from Giant Glass contribute a few crossing pattern receptions that made me go "meh". I saw little in the way of a running game. I saw weirdo, crazy scientist type offensive play calls in the red zone.

I saw a whole bunch of suck. Why is THAT going to change? ..because Gronk MAY come back?...why do I feel he's about as close to coming back as I am of marrying Miss Universe on the starship Enterprise?

There's a lot of garbage going on internally with this team. There's a lot of negative karma too.The Wilfork injury is a core problem with possibly devastating ramifications for this defense. It all comes back to 50 % completion Brady though. When you have all the experience he has, played in so many big games and so many tough dogfights, you DO NOT put up six points, sit there looking disconnected and give a "oh well" post game presser in a tweed jacket and turtleneck, like you could give two shyts.

I don't like any of this.

Can't disagree with any of this. Dead-on. Now, ff there's any team in the league that can put on the blinders and still rack up wins, it's New England. And 4-1 isn't exactly the time to panic; even 4-2 won't be damnable if they lose Sunday. But still, there's a lot of nebulous vibes coming from this team, from this Operation board game going on with Gronk to the giant void in the DL, to the pretty unfair position the rookie WRs have been put in, to Brady just not being himself, crappy offense aside. You wonder if even the Patriots have a breaking point.

Bunch of wannabe Orthopedic surgery going on here.

^^^^yep, that just about sums it up. Schefter reported in his podcast today that the team "expected" Gronk to "definitely" play this Sunday, but after speaking to him today, it now looks like he is not going to. Make of that what you will. Sounds to me like he just said "no."

What it shows is distrust in Gill, which he has every right to have. The really concerning thing is if Gill told him he's good to go this Sunday and Andrews looks at the X-Rays and tells Gronk no way. But that would be par for the course for the illustrious team doctor of the New England Patriots.

When a homer like Joker posts something like this, you know it's a concerned fanbase

can we not start anymore "gronk plans to play this week" threads...because we all know it becomes more bleak as the week goes on as of late

JC, I'm pilloried up and down all the time here as a pompom waving homer fanboy. But, I'm looking for just one tidbit that might make me feel optimistic. Got any?????

Every week he doesn't play means more muscle put on his frame for when he does play.

Perhaps the Patriots should place Gronk on IR and let him recover on his own pace. Hopefully, he will miss football enough so he will be ready to go next season. I think Gronks situation is becoming a distraction to rest of the team.

I think it's become an unhealthy obsession by the fans

That's assuming he will play. I'm not convinced he will. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I agree with the distraction part, but really put him on the IR that seems like a little to much.he will make a difference when he comes back.

One think I have seen from brady more than most times is how much he points towards the injured players and waiting for them to come back. While this is true, I havent seen him express this so much week after week. Iam not sure gronk with his body shape right now will be a big help. He needs a lot of time to get his hulk back.

Distraction because thats all the media is focussed on . They got shutout on the hernandez situation so this keeps going on weekly from breer and co. Add to the fact that he is said to be practicing fully but needs clearance to play. What if he twists an ankle in practice or injures his hand again practice ?

BB should shut him down for the season and send him home. Then he can go take his time and heal.

I think if he doesn't play next weekend then you may get your wish...IMO it's a guess but I think he'll be heading to IR shortly after next Sundays game if he isn't cleared to play next sunday.

I think the Pats F.O. patience is wearing thin on Rob and it's becoming a weekly media suspense....something this team hates is the limelight and that is exactly what they are getting now...they already went through media frenzy with Hernandez, they don't need more for the media to talk about nationally even though this is a far different scenario.

I don't know what's going on, exactly, with the decision-making process, but I don't get the feeling that Gronk himself really wants to be inactive.

I think at the end of the day teams play as a whole, and one person just dosnt make that much of a impact unless its basketball or a pitcher.
Alot of Pro Football players are made by their QB, WR, OL. On another team they would not be a amazing.
I really see KC as the strongest team in the AFC, followed by NE, and then Broncos, because the top 2 teams I mentioned have great teams and depth.
NE played some pretty good defenses, and offenses in some of those games and managed a 4-1 record. Its pretty understandable they would struggle for a game or 2 this year with rookies and key players being out. But the depth, coaching, and QB play is definatly there.
BB will clean up things that happend in the Cincy game, maybe not get time to scheme special plays vs NO, but certainly put a competent, professional team on the field vs NO.
Im really not convinced Gronk is needed against NO.
We have lost Graham, Moore, and Colston for a few games sometimes and the other players stepped up. Moore was our #1 reciever in last year, and in 2008 because of injuries or problems. Edelman,Dobson, Thompkins, and others will just have to step up.
Ryan thinks the world of BB

Brees isnt confident either
Drew Brees: "We have great respect for the New England Patriots"

The media can make this more than it is all day, but NO is not sleeping on NE.
We know how good your team and fans are. Gronk or no Gronk. NE can beat us easy at home.

Put it this way, Green might me the best WR in the league right now, and that Bengals offence from top to botton, maybe besides Dalton, is top 5 in the NFL I think, and you stuffed them.

At some point Gronk is just gonna have say screw it and make the decision himself. Last surgery was about 5 months ago. Whose to say that Andrews will clear him next week or next month?

Bill really just has to get Gronk in the room with no-one else and point blank ask him in his gut instinct opinion can he go or not. If the answer is no, season end IR him and tell him to go do whatever he has to be ready day one for next season.

Somehow Danny Amendola can get cleared to return only a few weeks after injuring his clavicle and being centimeters from dying.

Yet Gronk has had close to 5 months since the last forearm surgery. Which btw the report was it was about a 10 week recovery, which was late-July, early-August, it's now almost mid-October
