A somewhat realistic trade that could make a lot of sense: TE Tony Gonzalez

I call that the Redskins thought process.

Belichick manages this team with a balance of being competitive year in and year out. He has never mortgaged the future for the short term.

If they traded a 4th rounder for Gonzalez, then missed the post season they've got **** all to show for that 4th rounder which is bad value.

Randy Moss for a 4th was a no-brainer because he wasn't a guy who had been on the brink of retirement.

I believe they rented Ted Washington for 1 year for a 4th rounder..

Maybe if our GM was John Elway. Seems like he's the only person to understand his QB needs some big talent around him.

Give me Cecil Shorts, Jacksonville.

You mean the guy who has played for us last year and this year and will likely be in the league for another 4-5 seasons?

Yeah that's completely the same as trading for Tony Gonzalez to play like 12 games for us.

Like I wrote above: we know NOW, in hindsight, that Talib is here to stay (or at least we hope so). But when we first traded for him, he was a 1-year deal, and then we extended him an additional 1 year in the off-season. So even going into this season, he is still a 1-yr. deal. Things will most likely change at the end of the season, and we will most likely lock him long term (assuming his level of play remains high, and he stays out of trouble), but the whole Talib deal, when first transpired, was not designed to be a long term deal. We simply brought him in as a quick fix for our atrocious secondary.

And ATL will happily trade gonzalez if elway asked why ? Because its John Elway ? Trade speculations are fun only because no one seems to consider the other party's thinking at all. Just what WE could have , larry fitzgerald, gonzalez. Heck, lets trade 2 first rounders and 2 seconds for julio jones too. ATL will willing unload him since its 1 and 4.

I mentioned this after the Pats game against Atlanta. I wonder if Gonzo would go for it because you KNOW he'd immediately become a go to guy here.

Too bad Elway hasn't done squat other than sign Welker. Everything else was already there..

A fourth rounder for a player of Gonzalez's caliber would be peanuts. I would do that trade in a heartbeat, no questions asked.

He played a big role in luring Manning to Denver. I wouldn't call that "squat."

...he may have said this is his last year...but at least reach out and have that conversation...you never know...

From what I have read ,even welker actually called the broncos via his agent to ask . Wasnt some great lure by elway. As for manning, easy to lure him when you have all those players on offense before you and when you have a reputed name like elway . His signings are DRC and a few others this season so remains to be seen how they work out.

The whole discussion is about receivers. Not QB. Helps to read the post being replied to, Ozy.

The only "big talent" that Elway brought to be around his QB is Welker. Beyond that, he's done squat. My statement stands.

Yes John Elway has accomplished so much as a GM. That loser Belichick should copy him.

Breaking: Falcons fear Julio Jones likely OUT for the rest of the year w a foot injury. He's getting a second opinion tomorrow to determine

Hey, maybe the Falcons cash it in and make a run for Clowney.

Jay Glazer is reporting Julio Jones is done for the year. The Falcons could be willing to trade Gonzo now or not willing to part with him for any price. It depends if they want to tank it or not. If they trade away Gonzo now, they have no offense.

this team need a C or RG that's what they should trade for the pats been through this every year since 2007 I don't care if Brady has Gronk Welker and Hernandez as soon as they face one of the few teams in the NFL that can rush the QB inside this offense is dead

Initial determination by falcons is that Julio Jones season is over. They are hopeful 2nd opinion says otherwise but not optimistic

If that's the case, then I would consider this to have at least a sliver of hope. The trading deadline was pushed back two weeks for the first time this season, so nothing has to happen until after week 8, when the Falcons could be close to being mathematically eliminated from winning their division.

Ok, this is a real possibility with the julio news.

I wonder how quickly Tony Gonzalez can learn a new offense.
