Hmm, wondered why Ridley didn't get a lot of touches as the Atlanta game went on...hope he's okay.

Relevant tweet from Jeff Howe:

Ridley's injury is more of a lower thigh bruise that stiffened up this morning before practice, according to a source. Nothing serious.

Cincy's injury report is a lot shorter. Apparently the neck injury to Vontaze Burfict that caused him to leave the game against Cleveland is not that bad.

Bengals get Reggie Nelson back, lose Michael Johnson - ESPN

The Bengals' defensive backfield got a welcomed addition at practice Wednesday afternoon.

Safety Reggie Nelson, who missed all of last week with a hamstring injury, returned to action for the first time since going down at the end of Cincinnati's Week 3 win over Green Bay. Nelson contributed to arguably the biggest play of that game when he recovered a fumble from Packers running back Jonathan Franklin and ran with the ball several yards before having it pulled loose. The ball was scooped up by Bengals cornerback Terence Newman and returned 58 yards for a touchdown that proved to be the game-winner.

Officially, Nelson practiced in a limited capacity.

Along with Nelson, the Bengals missed cornerbacks Leon Hall and Dre Kirkpatrick in practices last week. Kirkpatrick actually participated in last Friday's session but along with Hall was held out of all of Wednesday's practice. Both defensive backs have hamstring injuries.

On Sunday, hours before the Bengals met the Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Hall and Nelson were out early running on the field. Both were jogging up, trying to loosen up their legs.

In addition to Hall and Kirkpatrick, defensive end Michael Johnson also was held out of practice. He has a concussion, according to the Bengals' injury report.

Johnson spoke to trainers after Sunday's loss at Cleveland and reported symptoms to them. They determined he was concussed.

Three weeks ago, in Cincinnati's Monday night win over Pittsburgh, he left the game to be evaluated for concussion-like symptoms after hitting his head at the end of a sack. He was cleared to return.

It's not yet clear how long the concussion could keep Johnson out.

Did Not Participate: CB Leon Hall (hamstring), DE Michael Johnson (concussion), CB Dre Kirkpatrick (hamstring), G Mike Pollak (knee)

Limited Participation: LB Vontaze Burfict (neck), S Reggie Nelson (hamstring)

Great to see Dennard not on the list.

A little concerning to see Ridley a DNP and Bolden limited. Hopefully Ridley's is nothing serious. As usual with Bolden it's always a question mark

I realize the severity of the injury.. but is it standard procedure to leave a player on active roster for as long as the pats have with wilfork? wouldn't they just ship him to IR if they knew he was out 6 months + ?

Question is (and i really don't know answer): Glimmer of hope he could return for a late playoff run or just logistics of promoting/acquiring a replacement ?

Tavon Wilson must have injured his hamstring from sitting on the bench too quickly.

Ridley not spotted again. Out for Sunday?

Was not spotted for the media portion again.

If that's the case, let's see
#1 TE still not ready
#1 WR injured
#1 DT out for season
#1 & #2 RB injured
ST Ace injured
#1 & #2 Outside WR dinged up

"Don't talk to us about injuries" - Bill Belichick when asked about another team's amount of injuries.

Ridley misses third straight practice

RB Stevan Ridley not spotted at practice for third straight day. Puts availability for Sunday in doubt.

eff Howe‏@jeffphowe29m
Stevan Ridley misses his third consecutive practice, putting his status for Sunday in doubt. Matt Slater returns.

Another injury.....:bricks:

Looks like Bolden/Blount for Sunday.

Re: Ridley misses third straight practice

Looks like I'll be starting Bolden in my fantasy league. The Pats don't usually make it a habit of dressing players on Sunday that sit out practice for the entire week.

Re: Ridley misses third straight practice

Brady could be passing 50 times this Sunday ...... The rookies better be ready to come and play against that nasty Bengals defense who is much, much better than Atlanta's D.

Look for Develin out there as well.

Agreed about him probably not playing. Had to pick up Blount yesterday because of Spiller's uncertainty against the Browns. Of course I bench him and he has almost his best game of the year. Thing is, I didn't even want Spiller; he was auto-selected for me at 4th because I was late joining my draft. Not that it matters because I blow at FF anyways.

Hope Bolden and Blount run well on Sunday!

Re: Ridley misses third straight practice

While it stinks that he will (probably) be out, Boldin going is more important, IMO. Ridley hasn't looked good to me since that fumble in Buffalo. Don't know if it's mental or physical, but I have been waiting for him to get back to form. I know his carries were cut after the fumble, but maybe he's been nursing an injury and it has more to do with that than being in the doghouse.

Re: Ridley misses third straight practice

If there's any spot on the team we can afford to roll without our #1 option, its running back. Lets go Brandon Bolden.

Ridley has inarguably been the most consistent RB on the team the past two weeks. In this case, your eyes are playing tricks on you, Deb.

Really? I guess so. He's looked consistent, just not too good, at least to me. No 4-5 yards per carry like we are used to. Starting Bolden instead of him. Sitting him a lot, at least as I can recall. But, maybe I was just blinded by Blount's unexpected rumble to the endzone ;)

Bolden started solely because NE opened in a passing set. Ridley still got the most carries against Tampa and was the only runner over 4ypc in the first half. In fact, NE went into that game thinking they wouldn't run much at all and it was Ridley's success that made them rethink that. Against Atlanta, Rids ran for 53 yards on 11 carries, nearly 5 yards a pop.

Your memory is playings games with you. ;)

Re: Ridley misses third straight practice

If Bolden is healthy we could survive Ridley not playing but he's been banged up all year and re-injured on Sunday, limited all week again. This could be trouble

Blount and Bolden's numbers are bloated because of their 40 yard runs.

Ridley's runs against Atlanta
5 yards

7
14
No Gain
2

-1
7
8

Also caught a screen pass that went 24 yards

Only 4 runs where he failed to gain 4 yards.
