Wilfork: 'No need to feel sorry' - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

I just want to thank everyone for your support and encouragement. ... Please know your words are heard. Bianca [Wilfork's wife] is making sure I see all the comments. I wish I could respond to everyone. But please know your words are heard.

One thing I know is I signed up to play football. I don't regret anything that has happened and there is no need to feel sorry about it. I've been blessed to only have one surgery prior to today and that was in high school.

I know what signing up to play football means and I know the rewards and risks. This is my job and I will switch positions for now and play the role of patient, but that is only temporary. I have so much confidence in our team and know that they will do great and I will be right beside them maybe not in uniform but in all other ways.

Thanks again.

Classy and likeable.

I'm guessing that really was written by Vince and/or Bianca Wilfork. It doesn't read like PR writing. And I give him credit/blame for whatever she does in his name.

Gotta love BigV

Made my morning. He is one cool dude, and if anyone will pit the work into rehabbing, it's Wilfork.

How can you not love a big guy like that? He is the genuine article.

Get well soon, Big Guy, but take your time and do it right. I wish you all the best.

Get well soon Vince. You are going to be missed on and off the field.

With big Vince's work ethic and dedication I am confident he will fully recover.

Thoughts and prayers are with you Vince !

That dude is all class and all man. He tore his achilles. Most athletes who have done so, cry and wriggle in pain. Big vince showed such little pain, most people thought he was faking. Fricking crazy.

And to read his message to the fans, the guy is just class. 1000% class. I hope the Pats keep him associated with the organization forever.

I had confidence that Rodney would make it back from his injury, and confidence TFB would make it back from his, and I have the same confidence in Big Vince.

He will work hard to get back and we will see him again next year.

It struck me too how little pain he showed. I don't know how much class it indicates, as much as toughness. I broke some ribs a couple of years ago and was writhing and complaining like a b|tch. That's because I'm a pu$sy, not because I have no class. :D

Best of health to Wilfy. He's a good Dad who will spend a special season with the kids. After a few months Bianca will eject him outa the house and send him back to work.
He could use the occasion to lose a few LBS to aid his recovery. Hard to do with that injury but possible. What he has going for him is that he conditions himself by swimming, so after several weeks he can get back into his off season conditioning program and vigorously work out without 300LB pressure on the ankle.

You have to have respect for a guy showing this much humility even during what has to be a tough moment.

Vince should do the MMA training for rehab to get himself back in shape. He could even do a match to help promote his charity vs Ted Johnson. If that doesn't motivate him nothing will.

Get well soon Big Vince! We will miss you and wish you all the best.

Hope he (and his wife) read these from our great site!

I hope I am right when I say that ALL members of our site (and you'all know how rare that is! :D) think that he's one of the top guys in that position and greatly admire/respect him. :)

Wishing him the very best and hope for a speedy recovery.

Honor and dignity all the way with Big Vince and the entire Wilfork family.

Just reading that letter from Vince shows what a completely confident and at peace man this is. Contrast that with the obvious inner strife Terrell Suggs exhibits to the world every day.

Put aside how great a football player he is - - Bianca Wilfork is one of the truly active spouses in the charitable activities of the Patriots. The Wilforks are great members of the New England community.

THAT is how to live a positive and enriching life.

I have seen a couple of guys snap thier achilles and they dropped like they had been shot! I don't know how painfull it is, but judging by the girlish screams each of them let out, I don't think it tickles!

Now imagine putting 350+ lbs on it! Vince is an incredible athlete, I'm sure he will make a full recovery. I'm guessing that as soon as BB talks to the Doctors, Vince will go on season ending IR.

This is a tough loss for the Pats, he commands so many double teams, plus he is the undisputed leader of the defense in the clubhouse. It's going to mean that Mayo is going to have to take that role. LOL, you would have to tape two other D-lineman together to replace Vince!

I said in another thread that I think he'll spend more time in swimming pools over the next year than in his whole prior life combined.

As for Bianca -- I've long admired that relationship, ever since I decided I thought that her being in charge was mainly a matter of him delegating as many non-job concerns to her as he could.
