Forgive my OT....but.....the US is attempting to complete one of the greatest comebacks in any major competition ever. Trailing 8-1 and all but written off, the US tied it up yesterday after winning 7 consecutive races. One race today...winner takes all. NBC Sports Network live starting at 4:00PM.
For anyone who wants to see a jaw-dropping piece of equipment travel 50+ mph on 2 foot wide foils....it is a spectacle and the races last maybe 30 minutes. In my household, this has become must see TV for the wife and kids....and they hate watching TV sports.
YouTube also carries the event

If the US win, you can thank us Brits:

British Olympic hero Sir Ben Ainslie is behind what some are describing as one of sport's greatest ever comebacks.

The sailor helped Oracle Team USA claw back an enormous deficit in the America's Cup to draw level with Emirates Team New Zealand with just one race to go.

At one stage Oracle were 8-1 down but a remarkable run of seven wins in a row sets up a thrilling climax to the prestigious competition.

Ben Ainslie Steers America's Cup Comeback

Ben Ainslie is one of our great sportsmen. It would be really nice to see him round off a great career with an Americas cup win - even if it is for the US.

Is there an over/under??

If you have not seen these race and can watch today do it. It is like watching giant robots fight. I miss the 12 meters but this is an interesting thing to see at least once.

I went to the America's Cup World Series in Newport last year, was fun.

ROBOTS........You are so right...these 72s are like Transformers over water.....sailing 3 times faster than the wind speed.

I sailed on Stars and Stripes last year.....Smaller than you would think. It seems I sailed on an antique compared to today's machine

Very exciting so far

They did it.

Huzzah! :)

Usa! Usa! Usa!

Amazing, Can't believe they were doing close to 50 mph downwind

About twenty years ago I raced sail boats out of Kaneohe, Hawaii each summer for a few years. I once had the privilege of racing with the Kiwis as they prepared for the Cup. They were amazing athletes and a great bunch of guys.

It sucks knowing many of my friends are going to be very upset with what happened, but I loved it :)

As a kid in Newport, RI, I used to ride my bike out to the point and watch the races. The races weren't such a big deal back in those days.

I still live in RI...across the bay from Newport...used to watch the races when they were here from the water...personally, I feel the US made a big mistake taking the races from Newport and the sound and holding them in San.Diego. Call it tradition, call it sour grapes, I always felt we would have held on to the Cup if they kept the Cup here. Today, though, is a great day for American sailors everywhere...8 in a row to win...what a comeback.

Last summer went down to Ft. Adams to watch the trials, this America's Cup is not the America's cup of old.. the old was like watching grass grow, and the only people could see the races were on boats off shore.

When I grew up used to go down to the docks to follow the America's Cup from that vantage... they would lift them out of the water every day..

This new 12 meter racing is fast and edgy and take place close to shore, it is also more corporate.. but everything else is.

This was a great comeback...
