The Official Patriots vs Jets POST Game Thread

I don't see anything completely egregious about last night. In fact, I think it was a blessing in disguise that BB was forced to use two rookie receivers. In the past he's been loathe to do that because of the complexity of the offense and because of Brady's pickiness, so we've seen a long line of used up vets at that position, barely able to outrun coverage.

However, last night, we saw something we haven't seen in forever: separation.

I think that for the most part, as long as you have that, everything else is fixable, catching ability included, and especially running coverage-dictated routes. In the long run (e.g., late season) I think this would really work to the offense's benefit.

I don't think I've seen Brady throw the long ball as much as he did last night, in a long time.

You knew................46 pages and one excellent observation.

What a dreary thread.

1. Had Talib stood still, Mangold would have made a legal but hard tackle of him. But ...

2. ... Talib moved away from Mangold. Therefore, Mangold was closer to the ground at the time of the tackle than he would have been had Talib not moved. When you question that conclusion, you're forgetting some pretty basic physics.

3. None of this exonerates Mangold from, at best, recklessness. He deserves punishment and scorn.

4. Did Mangold hope to injure Talib? Did he not mind injuring Talib? Was he just being a klutz? The video is not conclusive on those questions.

I'd wager that Belichick was pissed about the hit and at the time, he probably thought it was a cheap shot because when you look at it in "real time", that is how it looks.

You're saying that a coach that keeps his emotions in check in front of the cameras better than any other coach in the league was that pissed over a simple late hit that he's seen, literally, hundreds of times? You're still reaching.

Didn't say "simple late hit." It appeared to be a cheap shot out of bounds and at Talib's knee. Key word there is "appeared."

Between that, the ensuing fight, and the discussion afterward, it's pretty safe to assume its because it was dirty.

Yeah. That's what I am. A flaming homer. :bricks:

The intent to injure is always there when you're aiming for the knee.

Except that he wasn't aiming for the knee when he started. He was aiming for the thigh.

In what world does spinning transport your hip almost a foot lower? Or your knee almost a foot higher? Come on man, you're reaching very hard right now. Look where the hip is and look knee is. Better yet, watch the play. If Mangold wanted to hit the hip, it would have been hard to **** up badly enough to actually hit the knee.

I watched the play numerous times. Maybe you should do so without the preconception that it was intentional. If you actually watch the play and understood trigonometry to any extent, you'd know that while Talib started off closer to Mangold, he ended up farther away when Mangold actually hit. Had Talib NOT spun away, Mangold would have hit him in the thigh, not the knee. You saying otherwise is just BS.

BB didn't go off on Talib. He screamed at Mangold. So your point fails on pretty much every front, yet you keep going out of some misplaced crusade to be right every single time.

How do you know BB didn't go off on Talib? Because we didn't see it happen? Talib was right there with Mangold and Mangold didn't know what BB said. You continue to ignore that fact. Mangold just ASSUMED it was directed towards him.

Furthermore, your assumption that I am wrong on every front because you don't understand that Talib was closer to Mangold when the play started just shows you've allowed your preconceived notion that it was intentional hit to the knee to cloud everything else about the subject. So talking further is worthless because you, absolutely, refuse to see anything else.

In your case, the key words would be "Yet again, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about."

If I had to wager Belichick just wanted them kicked off the field because there were reports from LaDainian Tomlinson that Rex used to talk about punching Bill in the face, so knowing that I doubt Bill was really going to overlook Rex allowing his players to break a rule. Also why would he allow the player to stay on the field, they’re supposed to leave the field, so Belichick should be pissed if the refs don’t enforce it.

Umm, my friend, that wasn't even the topic of the discussion :)

Fwiw, I thought it was great that BB raised hell about it.

Hey Demos - did it ever occur to you that there are about 10 people here that think you are a source of credible information now that Tebow was sent off to pasture?

LOL.

Have a nice night sunshine.

what part of "text book" includes LAUNCHING IN THE AIR from 3-4 yards away, HELMET FIRST.

The rest of your 'trigonometry' argument is beauty in the eye of beholder/judgement call; i would disagree but can concede others may see the film differently. But is irrelevant as you dont launch and you dont go helmet first - --- THEREFORE, DIRTY.

What did occur to me is that it's absolutely hilarious that someone with your demonstrated level of ignorance would even think about commenting on someone else's credibility.

Got that Sunshine?

Huh? Depending on the situation, you do indeed "launch' to make a tackle. Also, your head/helmet would be first strictly due to anatomy.

I don't know if this has been pointed out. But after the last Talib INT Matt Patricia is on the sideline right infront of Talib and is pointing and urging Talib to run upfield.

Mangold said Belichick was heated at him. I'll take Mangold's word on top of watching the play over your "how do you know" fling it at wall and see if anything sticks argument.
