The Official Patriots vs Jets POST Game Thread

Do yourself a favor, Joker. Stop posting while your buzzed. You're a better poster when you do and you don't over-react like an unintelligent homer who doesn't know a damn thing about the game.

You calling me a drunk? WTF is YOUR problem, you goddamned windbag? First off, I don't drink or abuse legal or illegal substances. I admit I was still amped on adenalin after the game. You are so ridiculous in your defense of your observation it begs the question are YOU intravenously connected to liquid LSD or what? Frame by frame proves it?????REAL TIME proves it...look at the clip ...he dives at the back of his legs at the knees and ROLLS backwards deliberately trying to injure him.LOOK at the clip...he hits Talib and using one of YOUR split seconds, the ref THROWS THE FLAG...what for...shyts and giggles?? I know this is YOU going on one of your "I'm always right!!!" jihads. Have at it. Stop making personal references you have dreamt up affixed to me. First off, you don't KNOW me and second off you haven't LIVED long enough to ever call me a drunk.

They didn't need to drain any time off the clock. Jets had no more timeouts left. Who cares if NE had to do two kneels instead of one? Talib should have gone down or immediately ran OOB. Talk to McCree about that.

Bad example. McCree got the ball punched out in midfield. Talib was along the sidelines with Patriots behind him. The likelihood of that ball getting punched out and going inbounds was extremely low.

Looking at it in slow motion, Mangold could still see him moving out of bounds when we launched himself. He could have pulled up some at that point, but he didn't.... probably because he was pissed off and wanted to lay a big hit on Talib even if he was going out of bounds.

I think that Talib jumping back and turning around played a part in the result and at that point Mangold's head was down so he could not see, but it was going to be a cheap shot out-of-bounds any way you slice it.

He might not have meant it to be a "back-of-the-knee" cheap shot, but it was intended to be an out-of-bounds cheap shot IMO.

Mangold is a 300+ lb offensive lineman. Guys that big and cumbersome can't and don't just "pull up" once they've launched at someone to make a tackle. The extracts I posted from the animated gif clearly show that Talib was still in bounds when Mangold started in for the tackle.

The video shows that Talib had clearly jumped out of bound before Mangold left his feet. Seriously, stop digging.

lol @ this, oh Talib went out first, or Mangold launched first. It's like Milliseconds difference. Who cares honestly.

Did Mangold deserve the 15 yard penalty? Yes he hit him out of bounds, rules are rules.

Was it a Cheapshot? Yes it was, Mangold clearly goes low

If Fatgold keeps his head up he would've hit Talib around the thigh, he lowered his head into the knee area while in mid air.

The rookies are pressing. In the first game, Thompkins was lunging at the ball to get more open, losing his balance, and not simply catching the ball. In his second game, he was back to behaving like a relaxed receiver and making a couple of catches.

In this the first game for Dobson, Aaron too was frequently off balance and lunging for the ball. I predict he will relax, and make his catches soon too.

It's part of their development.

I really think that one day (hopefully this season!) we'll look back on these first few weeks and kind of chuckle at how bad the rookies were, because by then, I hope Dobson is torching people, Thompkins is making catch after catch, and even Sudfeld and Boyce are contributing meaningful plays.

My big concern is that while they're in development mode, Brady will continue to look for guys he's comfortable with, like Amendola (when healthy) and Edelman. But going to those guys again and again and again is a recipe for getting them blasted.

That said, in the playoffs, if the Pats have a lineup of a healthy Gronk, Amendola, Edelman, and Vereen, that's a very difficult lineup to stop.

Uh oh - Dennard threw a punch during that scrum as well at #66. He could be facing discipline.

The frame by frame that I posted clearly shows that Mangold had already lowered his body and was going for the tackle while Talib was still in bounds.

Mangold deserved the flag because he ended up hitting Talib out of bounds. The rules don't care about intent.

The only point I am arguing is against the claims that Mangold intentionally targeted Talib's knees while he was out of bounds. The still frames that I posted CLEARLY show that not to be the case.

No, it doesn't. It shows just the opposite.

I think that one of Demos' favorite movies is Reality Bites.

It has to be because he has now spent nearly 24 hours on the intent and the actual tackle on the last play of a game despite all of the video showing that Mangold intentionally going after his knees while Talib was CLEARLY going out of bounds and using his left shoulder to take out Talib's left knee.

First Demos makes claims that this is all about intent. Now, it is about the fact that Talib was still in the field of play.

I cannot wait for the next rationalization that he has.

Lots of plays been overlooked in this game but there were noteworthy efforts that proved critical in the end.

Huge play by Jerod Mayo to pressure/strip Clyde Gates in the end zone leading to a field goal instead of a touchdown in the 1st quarter and some pretty decent tackling one-on-one by the defence notably Hightower and Arrington off the top of my head.

On the Dennard interception, I was wondering if Geno was baited into the throw, the CB knowing that Pats had safety help over the top or if the Denard was initially beat by the WR and recovered due to a poor throw by the QB.

You make an excellent point about Mayo. He had a good game with only a couple missed plays, which everyone has. He's a quiet player, not demonstrative to the TV cameras so folks overlook him.
