Interception...40 seconds left...Jets ZERO TO's...GAME OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....not ONE reason why Mangold should do ANYTHING..yet YOU are going to argue what YOU SEE with your own two eyes??? I was THERE...in REAL TIME...everyone saw what he did and everyone KNOWS what a piece of shyt he is. ...PERIOD

yeah judge...I only meant to shoot him in the leg but he BENT DOWN...not my fault I shot him ion the head..

ridiculous rationalization...THAT was dirty...period...no argument...you want to continue then have a good night you're obviously trolling

It doesn't matter if you were there "IN REAL TIME". Fact is that eye witnesses are one of the worst people to recount events. Furthermore, you are a Pats homer, like so many of us, so you are biased.

Fact is that the FILM shows the reality that Talib was still in bounds when Mangold left his feet. Mangold probably should have just tried to push Talib OOB. However, he also could have felt that Talib was showing up the Jets by not having gone down immediately.

Let's recap.
1) Interception.
2) Jets have no time outs.

So, by just going down, Brady can take one or two knees to end the game. Talib doesn't need to run time off the clock. Yet, he runs the ball back anyways.

How many times have we seen the Pats make a game ending interception, the player make a run back and not go down immediately. There have been a few in the 13 years and let me remind you that BB has been LIVID at his own player for not going down IMMEDIATELY.

Jags and Raiders. Pats are lucky they played the Bills and Jets first and did not start with the Falcons/Bengals/Saints as their first three games.

Luck? Yes, it's so lucky that who the Pats play (outside of 2 games) is set years in advance. The when is only difference. But, that is luck also, right?

There is no LUCK involved. There is no chance involved as to the schedule. It is what it is..

Considering the Jets kept fielding their punt team with NO return man, those numbers are not that shocking to me.

As to why they kept doing that, a quick google revealed "With the Leonhard injury the Jets will need to find a punt return man." I'm not sure if that was the real reason or not, but it seems bizarre to not put someone out there unless they saw something on film that made them believe they could block our punts.

Except that Leonhard is on the Bills now, not the Jets.

It was pretty strange for the Jets not to have a return man for so many punts last night.

Talib was NOT out of bounds when Mangold left his feet.

And Mangold was definitely not going for his thighs while Talib was moving out of the bounds with the game no longer in question.

Are you done calling people stupid Bruinz? Cannot believe that you and I are in Briz's league.

Yawn, same excuse for BJGE in 08. He showed something in that 1 game Ridley doesn't have, explosion.

It's not a "fact" he's not good. BB disagrees. He's a 2nd year RB he kept despite nagging injuries and a suspension. There's a reason for that. It's to pressure the slow buffoon who's averaged 3.8ypc since last year midseason.

When Ridley isn't gashing the Titans week 1 or the Rams in London, he's mediocre and hurts this team.

The Ridley defenders are approaching Maroney level.

*ROFLMAO* Umm yeah.. It's really too bad that the game logs show otherwise.

Stevan Ridley: Game Logs at NFL.com

Furthermore, the Defensive stats from last year say otherwise:

NFL Stats: by Team Category

Denver was the #3 Run Defense. Houston the #9 run Defense. Miami the #13 run defense.

BTW, Ridley's averaged 3.96 YPC since the bye week of last season. And that includes going against Houston twice and Miami twice.

But, yeah.. he's like Maroney. BTW, when did Maroney put up 1296 yards in a season.. Could you post that link because I clearly missed it.. And so did the Patriots and the NFL..

And Mangold was definitely not going for his thighs while Talib was moving out of the bounds with the game no longer in question.

Are you done calling people stupid Bruinz? Cannot believe that you and I are in Briz's league.

Just because you are too much of a homer to believe reality doesn't mean the rest of us are. You really should go and get those eyes checked because it was clear that Mangold did NOT intend to injure Talib. Talib was still IN BOUNDS when Mangold started his tackle (and yes, he was above Talib's knees when he started).

The replay shots prove that.

As for being in that league, this is the 10th year he's run it. I've been in since it's inception. Making stupid comments like you are doing only reflects poorly on you.

You know Bruinz - I don't know what happened to you from the time you were at ESPN, but you clearly are not the same poster over there as you are here.

There is a poll on the league page regarding the hit on Talib. My guess is that they will see the same thing that I saw last night.

Have a nice day Bruinz.

So you are saying Bill Belichick, the guy right there on the sideline, was wrong in thinking it was a dirty hit and calling him out for it?

This game was similar to the ending of the most recent episode of Breaking Bad: all the targets are wide open, but nobody gets hit (err catches the ball in this case).

You want to know what the difference is? I'm not as free, here, to go off on the moronic trolls that populate this site. But I can tell you that I am extremely more informed here than I was there.

My stance has been that it was a late hit but not one done with an intent to injure. That has been my stance. I've said that I expect Mangold to be fined. You and Joker over-looked that because of your homerism. But that is what I posted on numerous occasions in the different threads on the topic.

Furthermore, you need to be reminded that, had Talib gone down immediately like he's supposed to, he wouldn't have been in a position to get hit by Mangold.

So you are saying Bill Belichick, the guy right there on the sideline, was wrong in thinking it was a dirty hit and calling him out for it?

Could you please post the link where Belichick said it was a dirty hit? Did you ever stop to think that Belichick was getting on Mangold because he felt that Mangold didn't need to try and tackle Talib, but just needed to push him OOB?

Do yourself a favor and just go with what I said. Not what you erroneously think I said. Not what you have no proof of Belichick saying.

Oh, and one last thing. How do you know that Belichick wasn't livid at Talib for not going down right away and putting himself in a bad position to possibly get injured?

BTW, all we have is Mangold saying that Belichick got heated but that he didn't know what Belichick actually said.. At least in all the credible links I've been able to find..

Guys, I know it was just the Jets and their offense pooped the bed when our D was having its poorer moments, but was I the only one here who felt just a LITTLE gleeful about how this game felt like a throwback to 2003-ish when the Pats were winning games like 9-3?

I thought it was really neat. I can't remember the last time a Pats game wasn't like 21-14 or something at halftime.

Except for the part where our offense is presently garbage, that's tough.

Talib was still IN BOUNDS when Mangold started his tackle (and yes, he was above Talib's knees when he started).

Would it have been physically possible for Mangold to be below Talib's knees when he started? So now we know that no hit is dirty if a tackler starts above the knee. Got it.

Rookies.....it was dobsons first game.....these guys need reps

It will come together.....Dobson and thompkins can get open.....

The rookies are pressing. In the first game, Thompkins was lunging at the ball to get more open, losing his balance, and not simply catching the ball. In his second game, he was back to behaving like a relaxed receiver and making a couple of catches.

In this the first game for Dobson, Aaron too was frequently off balance and lunging for the ball. I predict he will relax, and make his catches soon too.

It's part of their development.

Lots of plays been overlooked in this game but there were noteworthy efforts that proved critical in the end.

Huge play by Jerod Mayo to pressure/strip Clyde Gates in the end zone leading to a field goal instead of a touchdown in the 1st quarter and some pretty decent tackling one-on-one by the defence notably Hightower and Arrington off the top of my head.

On the Dennard interception, I was wondering if Geno was baited into the throw, the CB knowing that Pats had safety help over the top or if the Denard was initially beat by the WR and recovered due to a poor throw by the QB.

Well, there are likely things Belichick was saying and there are unlikely things. If you want to assume the unlikely, that is you prerogative. Personally, I'll stick with Occam's razor and the general direction of the information we do have at our disposal. With Belichick you always have to read between the lines because he is not going to disclose anything. We all know that. And, if you require 100% proof of everything in life, you are going to have a bad time.

I don't know how i fell going forward from this game. Our defense was not really tested against Buffalo and the Jets, so until Week 4 i won't make any calls. I know they are rookies but man there is a limit, god forbids that Julian gets hurt.

There are 13 teams on the schedule. There always are; and the Defensive measures are measured against both good and bad teams. This Defense surrendering 12 ppg, is clearly much superior to the last four seasons of immature, under staffed Defenses.

Despite what we have seen in the first two games, the Pats are sitting pretty in the division with a 2-0 record.

Against division foes, the record takes prime importance and by the time the Patriots play the Jets and Dolphins in Weeks 7 & 8, the Offense will hopefully not be as depleted and the rookies will have got over their jitters.
