NFL fines Ndamukong Suh $100K for dirty hit

Re: OT: NFL plans to fine Ndamukong Suh $100K for dirty hit

tmi.me - AlbertBreer: Suh's $100K fi

It's a start, but sitting him down for some games would really send the message to the Lions that Suh's **** is unacceptable.

I know Suh is a big, strong, mean, nasty MF, but the NFL is full of big, strong, mean, nasty MFs. One of these days, he's going to cheap shot someone, and that guy is just going to beat the crap out of Suh.

EDIT: Of course, and I'm not joking here, I wonder what would have happened had he cheap-shotted Aaron Hernandez and injured him badly. Would Suh have found himself waking up some day with the Rainmaker shoving a 9-mm in his mouth?

Some how James Harrison will be fined as well.

Re: OT: NFL plans to fine Ndamukong Suh $100K for dirty hit

I wonder if his coach will want to apologize now.

Seriously though, he's a dirty player and needs to cut the crap out.

Re: OT: NFL plans to fine Ndamukong Suh $100K for dirty hit

the best..

I mean absolute BEST part is how he SWEARS he was not going for the other guys knees.

Re: OT: NFL plans to fine Ndamukong Suh $100K for dirty hit

He should be out of the NFL already. But it'll probably take someone dying on the field for anyone able to affect such a change to realize it.

Re: OT: NFL plans to fine Ndamukong Suh $100K for dirty hit

$100K is a substantial fine, but if the league really wants to send a message, Suh needs to sit out a game.

Not only was that a cheap shot, but it was completely unnecessary. The Vikings lineman he clipped was probably 30 yards behind the play and wasn't going to impact it at all.

Well, he pretty much just ended Sullivan's career so he's working on it. I always fear he'll take a shot at Brady when they play each other. He just doesn't give a F@&K.

Re: OT: NFL plans to fine Ndamukong Suh $100K for dirty hit

This fine won't change things, so it won't help. He's unredeemable, in my opinion.

Surely an important part of the problem is his coach/team of enablers with the Lions. Unless they are sincerely committed to making the guy change, it can't happen, and even if they do try with him, there's a lot more of a chance it won't get through to him. Further, I don't single out the Lions on this, I doubt that the Steelers (recall Saint Tomlin's reaction when Clark launched at Welker), Ravens, 49ers, or any team coached by Jeff Fisher would handle their guys any differently. I'd like to think BB is in a different place than them, but if I'm being really honest here, given the number of incidents we've seen our favorite team commit over the years, I can't say for absolute certain that I think he would either.

More importantly, I think the guy is just wired to believe he doesn't need to conform or stay within boundaries. Most of the guys in the league can handle staying within the rules, but the Suhs, Harrisons, and Pollards either just don't believe they need to, or in the case of Harrison and Pollard they may just feel that they were nobodies coming into the league, not a top 1st-rounder like Suh, that they only made as far as they did by their "style of play," and thus they can't live with any self-restraint.

I thought Sullivan didn't get injured from it. Am I incorrect?

Re: OT: NFL plans to fine Ndamukong Suh $100K for dirty hit

The Lions will never do anything about it unless it starts hurting the organization directly (suspensions and fines to the organization). I have a feeling that a lot of teams want someone like Suh but will never ever admit it of course. We're still looking for our Rodney replacement; not a dirty guy per se, but someone who will put one foot across the line.

Just to be clear. I don't condone it.

From everything I have read Sullivan is fine, but Suh did go after his surgically repaired knee so he went down and clutched his knee. Watching the video of the hit now and he goes down and rolls on the field clutching his knee in pain. Whether it was a "flop" or not to try for a flag I do not know...

He should have been suspended for multiple games. Plays like that have no business being on the football field.

He's a dirty player and fining him isn't going to stop him from doing it again.

Someone said basically "Don't say it's too little, $100G is $100G."

That sends a message, yes, but the message to the Lions needs to be: If Suh pulls this **** again, he sits, and YOU get fined $100K.

I think the next one for Suh is going to be multiple games. This behavior isn't taken lightly by the NFL. IIRC $100K is one of, if not the largest, fine to a player. They aren't giving him a $250K fine next time, it's going to be multiple games (which will obviously cost him substantially more than 100K).

He needs to be suspended for multiple games in order for it to sting enough to get the message.

His base salary is actually only $530K or so, so 2 game suspension would cost him LESS than $100K.

Agreed. Given the history already there and given he is still doing it, there seems almost no chance he is going to change without a severe punishment being handed down.
