Vereen Breaks Wrist

It might have ben less painful for him during the game. I broke bones in each of my hands in two separate seasons and continued to play each time, probably because it didn't have time to stiffen up and swell so the pain wasn't bad. After the game, though, it hurt like all get out each time.

Of course, maybe he took the needle. Nothing hurts then.

Ridley doesn't have a fumbling problem, he just fumbles more than the last guy we had. I mean, he only had one more lost fumble than Benji last year (3 vs. 4).

Look at the fumble rates for all the other workhorse backs in the league, Ridley is right in the ball park with everyone else. There are a few guys who have outstanding ball security, but 4 fumbles in a season isn't bad. Just because he had a fumble in game one doesn't mean he's going to have 16 fumbles this year.

That also doesn't mean fumbling is acceptable, that's why Belichick benched him, it was a bad fumble. Belichick needed to make sure Ridley knows that, so he sat him. He'll still get 250+ carries this year. He's the best runner we have and needs to remain cognizant of ball security. My guess is he holds on pretty tight next week.

BTW, the last fumble he had he got knocked TF out, so it's a little hard to blame him for that one. ***** happens.

Here's my problem with the fumble. He went down untouched and gave up the ball.

That really stinks he played so very good this week, if he really did break his leg on the first play he did not play to bad with it broken. Hopefully he will be back in a few weeks.

For ****'s sake. Losing Amendola and Vereen = the offense will have its hands full even beating the Jets. Hopefully Amendola can play.

Not even just losing a RB - nobody on the roster can play the role that he plays. Hell, only a couple people in the entire MLS could do it with even a little bit of credibility

Master of Library Science?

Multiple Listing Service?

If vereen played the whole game injured, I hope he can get something to continue playing because he played fine.

he broke it on the first play?

he still played well, unless they are worried about something else breaking just put some dirt on it.
This is just SO WRONG. But I was thinking the same thing and liked your comment :D

Id be suprised if he didnt play with a cast. Vereen has the guts. Unless hes forced to not play.

Why, oh why, did BB not retain Danny Woodhead. Great back as well as good catching the ball. Now in San Diego.

BB decided not to pay him $1.85 million. I'm guessing, Danny would be priceless today.

No sense running at the jets DL anyway, it's the only good part of their team.

Go 5 wide (assuming Danny plays and we have 5 wides lol). Hurry up O the whole way and their big Fatties on the DL will be passing out by the 2nd quarter.

You can't stop, you can only hope to contain.... Julian Edelman.

And you just don't pay your 3rd RB 2 years/$3.5 million who isn't gonna take over a game running the ball and maybe will get you 5 rec 40-50 yards.

Here's my problem with the fumble. He went down untouched and gave up the ball.

Problem 1b: Made exactly NO EFFORT to re-secure the ball.

I think he got lulled into complacency by the first called 'non-fumble'. He thought he still had enough contact w/ the ball to be called down by contact AGAIN; so he just sat there on hands and knees. (I believe defender was holding his arm; but still he made no effort to turn/twist or do anything.)

Compare that to SV who is giving 110% on 2 STs units and played w/ a freaken broken wrist and didnt put a SINGLE BALL on the turf; even covering up w/ 2-hands and still headed into major traffic when necessary.

I'd like to think that we're past the days when a white guy can't tell the difference between two black dudes.

Well, here's some vaguely related Patriots Trivia then...

Who was the last white running back to rush for 1,000 yards in an NFL season before Peyton Hillis did it in 2010?

Answer-

Craig James, New England Patriots. 1227 yards in 1985.

What, you're telling me no white running back had broken the 1,000 yard barrier in the 34 seasons between the 1985 & 2010 campaigns?

Bingo! Bingo! I've got bingo! :D

Here's my problem with the fumble. He went down untouched and gave up the ball.

Surely you don't think he's the first player to give up a bad fumble? If every guy who had a bad fumble, terrible pick or otherwise boneheaded play was sitting on the bench there wouldn't be enough players to field a team on Sunday.

It was a bad fumble. It happens. Move on.
