Anyone who watched the game last night saw the giants blowing chunks, but they also saw something the giants are famous for..

Faking injuries.

The league sent out a zero tolerance memo about faking injuries, so are we finally going to see King ginger start punishing new york or what?

Maybe the boston media can give it a fancy name like FakeGate.

I'd have the league punish this stuff with stiff fines against the player(s), the team and the coaching staff. If the CBA prevents fining the player than smash the team and it's coaching staff. The Refs can't do it during the game because they're not medical personnel but they can issue a warning to the coaching staff which the league can review later.

Basically, the league should pursue a policy of "more likely than not" (it's just probable) without the need for objective evidence. It should be limited to fines.

I think forcing the player to stay out for 15 minutes of game time would put an end to the whole thing

Then they'll just use a benchwarmer to do the deed.

Fine the coach $250 k every time it happens and I think it might stop.

Then they'll have to play benchwarmers to do that.....

Wasn't a memo sent out about faking injuries? If so, I guess the Giants can kiss their first round pick goodbye.

But that means having scrubs out on the field playing meaningful snaps. No team wants to do that, and if they're willing to, the opposing offense should absolutely target the guy until he gets 'hurt'/

No

"Integrity of the game" is SO 2007 :p

A memo or threat of fine/suspension is meaningless, I just don't see any way the league can 100% conclude and prove that a player is faking.

The only fair/realistic solution would be making the 'injured' player sit out for x amount of plays. It's not perfect but it's a definite improvement over what's going on right now.

not just a memo, a ZERO TOLERANCE memo. The same type of memo that got the patriots docked a number 1 draft pick, and 6 years worth of "cheaters" nonsense.

All it takes is one play for a scrub to fall down with a boo-boo.

Suuure...like that would ever happen to a NY team.

He has to come out onto the field and actually play some snaps. If he substitutes in, runs onto the field, and immediately falls to the ground like he's been hit by an imaginary sniper, then that will be just about the most obvious case of injury faking imaginable. At that case, just hit them with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and fine the **** out of both the player the head coach.

It also goes against the general point of faking injuries against a no-huddle: teams do it because they're trapped on the field with an unfavorable personnel package. If you have the ability to sub a scrub in, then it's a moot point, because you aren't stuck with your current personnel package (if you were, then you wouldn't be able to sub a scrub in anyway).

I'm struggling with feeling righteous indignation about this considering McGinest clearly faked an injury back in 2003 against the Colts.

which is true but you miss the point which is NOW that an edict has been issued by the NFL that this is verboten, the current offenders need to be disciplined as the Pats were.

They have to sit out one play.

They need to change it to 3 or 5 plays or something more valuable.

The remainder of the current drive and all of the next sound better to me. Would certainly put an end to these shenanigans in close games.

Nah, I don't miss the point. Unsportsmanlike play is unsportsmanlike play I don't need a dictum from His Rogness for me to have been disappointed that we had to stoop to that level of play to win that game.
