Winning with this current receiver corp is not sustainable

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

I don't know if an OP's user name ever fit a thread title so well.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

Thompkins is going to draw the top CB on each defense. I guess they aren't bringing back Lloyd, Branch, Jenkins, or anyone else from the past. What the heck are they going to do if Amendola, Edelman, and Gronk are injured for long periods of time?

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

By tomorrow (Monday) night at midnight there will be 16 teams and its fans wondering about whether their team is going to be good enough to get their first win in week 2 or how long it might take to break into the win column

.... Lets enjoy a hard fought win,if even for a few days and worry about the rookies contributions or lack of,as weeks go on.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

Woah, Thomkins was not Ocho bad. He had a rough game, but at least he could line up in the right spot. lol

No. He was. I'm sorry. That drop in the endzone was disgusting.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

No need to say sorry. But he was not as bad as Ocho.

Also the drop in the end zone was bad. But if you really want to point out how bad Thompkins was on that play. You should point out the pause on the adjustment of his route, was worse then the drop.

And it will happen again, we are going to have to deal with these type of things.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

ahaha this blatantly talented receiving set didn't instantly gel and post 30 points on their first real game together cripes we really need to resign randy

Don't compare a raw and very green UDFA WR making beans and his first start in a real game to a $6M 10 year veteran piece of human excrement WR known as Chad Ochostinko Johnson who dogged his way through 16 games of puke performances week after week and was known by some naïve fans as an elite receiver before he arrived here.

Chad was a joke...and still is in life,Thompkins is at least trying to do what 31 teams thought he could not do and that's play in this league, don't expect miracles.

Ok ...he was Reche Caldwell/Taylor price like bad....

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

Do you guys see us picking up a WR this week?

It's amazing Brady was able to win a game with two short slot receivers as his only legit targets.

Rookies need time. It's one thing to analyze the game. It's another to write them off after game 1.

If he plays by week 16 the same way he did today he may not be on the 2014 team but lets see if he can get better and maybe do what Brandon LLoyd did at least.

Remember Lloyd looked like crap in many games last season but somehow managed to put 900 yards in the stat book by season's end.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

No Gronk.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

The Amendola and Edelmen smurfs stepped up big time and as usual T-G-F-B (Thank God for Brady). That was an Aunt Esther ugly win.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

We knew the O wasn't going to be firing on all cylinders straight away, it will take time, the potential is HUGE. Calm down. We blew most teams out last year but couldn't win the close games and in the playoffs it showed. We'll get better.

I'm not writing Tompkins out yet, I'm just stating the obvious. Today he looked horrible. Hopefully Thursday a different story.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

I posted these in a different thread but they’re more applicable to this conversation.

Brady to rookies: 4/17 for a 23.52% completion rate, 42 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Brady to veterans: 25/35 for a 71.42% completion rate, 246 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

To my knowledge no one saw something like this coming from Edelman. Considering that Amendola looks like the real deal, if one of the rookies can step up sometime this year then we will have 3 solid receivers. Brady should have a decent number of weapons when Gronk comes back.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

I expect improvement from the young guys. And I have high hopes that Boyce will be a good contributor this season.

It was unfortunate to see the rookie playing, well, like a rookie. Robert Woods was a player a lot of us coveted for the second round. I think you can see why.

But the lack of production at TE has me more worried.

I admit, though, that the play of 85 made me miss Deion Branch.

TB is too good not to find receivers for him. Don't worry. The corps will improve.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

This board is so predictable and so paranoid and pathetic. We actually won that game today or did most of you not notice?

And stop calling each other Nervous Nancys or Nellies. You're Nervous Norberts.

Re: Winning with this current receiver core is not sustainable

Public Service Announcement: Receiver Corps

Things with a core:

- Apples
- The Earth
- In star trek, ships have warp cores

Things with a corps:

- The Marines
- The shorthand for a grouping in football, usually receivers

They just sound the same.
