The last touchdown was on a bubble screen that went 78 yards, when the score was 42-27. How's that running up the score?

I think if it was the Pats, the argument would be "Why is Brady even in the game at that point? What if he got hurt? Shouldn't they giving Mallett playing time in case they need him?". It wouldn't be so much about how they scored, but the fact that Brady is still in the game passing the ball.

I stopped watching in the third.

The game turned into a blowout.

The ravens offense is abysmal, their defense is mediocre, I don't think they even make the playoffs this year.

I didn't think they were going to make the playoffs before last night. After last night, I wonder if they are going to make .500 for the season.

On a side note, I am starting to think the Pats drew the AFC North the right year. Cincy may be the only team over .500 this year.

Doesn't look like it. As long as we get to give them serious beating this year though.

I don't buy the 'don't need a running game' argument. It's going to get colder, especially come playoff time, Manning's going to have stinkers, and the backfield is too weak to carry the team.

As a Broncos fan, I'm certainly pleased. :D

Quick hits:

--Our running game will only be decent once our passing game is established. Eventually Montee Ball could be a threat, but for now, Knowshon is reliable for a few yards and Hillman is dangerous in open space--but neither of them are great RBs.

--The fact that we don't have a great RB seems like it could be irrelevant. Baltimore's defense looked awful tonight, don't get me wrong, but I think at worst they're an AVERAGE defense. There are definitely worse defenses than them, which is scary

--I've been a huge fan of Julius Thomas for a while. He's still kind of a project, but he's got a ton of potential and you can see why. Team's will now have to account for him, but there's only so much you can do against someone that physical, big and athletic. The best part about him? He's an EXCELLENT pass blocker.

--When was the last time (has it ever happened before?) that 3 WR had 2 TDs in a game?

--Peyton's arm strength: I don't think it's much worse than last year. Remember, he looked like crap from an arm strength perspective all year. It matters, but only so much; a smart QB knows his strengths and weaknesses and adjusts for them. Peyton does just that. I have no doubt it'll cost him a few INTs during the season, but if he plays like he did tonight we'll be just fine.

--Our defense will be fine. Baltimore's O also sucks, but the run D looked fantastic (way better than expected) and while our pass rush wasn't great, it looks like we can figure it out without Von for now. When he's back (and when Champ is healthy) our D could very well be top 10 in the league again.

--Ultimately, all that matters is the Super Bowl, but as I'm sure you all know quite well, it makes the next few months a lot more enjoyable when your team can put up performances like that.

Can't wait to be at Gillette wearing my Wes Welker Pats jersey in a few months! ;)
What position do you play?

this game made me dread all the chicken littles even more.

say amendola has 100 yards and no tds on sunday, the whole forum is going to explode. "WELKER HAD 2 TDS!!!" "fire bill"

Its going to be utter nonsense.

What's disturbing for the Ravens is that Ray Rice was unable to get much of a running game going and Flacco has reverted to his mean

Can't take anything away from Manning about last night's performance. Hats off to him. As one wag pointed out this morning, he's on his way to a 112 TD season; before some "expert" with no sense of humor (or brains) goes on a diatribe about that comment, "That's a joke."

It's a long season and people seem to overlook the fact that the Denver weather was unusually good through December last year, so let's see how it works out if Sports Authority Field looks more like Foxboro than San Diego towards the end of the season. After seeing Peyton's depleted arm strength in the Ravens game last January, you can count me among those who are not sold on the inevitability of the Bronco's in the SB or even AFCCG.

But, one thing I do know from last night is that we're sure going to miss Welker.

Yes, I did. That's why I asked my question. You're crying about a lack of outrage while you're arguing apples and oranges.

There's no outrage because there was no running up of the score.

You ALWAYS have severe difficulties with reading comprehension.

Brady was blasted for running up the score even though he came out of a game in the third quarter. IN THE THIRD QUARTER!

I wrote that in my very post. Then I went out of the way to say that the Broncos were NOT running up the score.

Neither were the Patriots in the 3rd quarter. Yet Brady was criticized.

It doesn't surprise me that your reading comprehension is a problem--yet again.

I don't think wes was ever left uncovered as much as he was last night. and even being wide open on almost every play he had one drop that they counted as a reception, and fumble and outside of the two easy peasy tds a very pedestrian game.

Most knowledgeable fans of the NFL would agree that 'running up the score' is a seriously stupid complaint anyways since these are professionals and for fans it's entertainment -- we can always turn off the game.

Not everything has to turn into Patriots media martyrdom. Just realize that crap is ESPN narrative and stop watching ESPN.

Amendola has to get 150 yds and 3 TD's on Sunday or else BB is the worst coach ever.

This surprised me a bit. Some folks consider the Ravens' running back corps the best in the league, but it didn't look it last night.

Amendola has to get 150 yds and 3 TD's on Sunday or else BB is the worst coach ever.

In some folks' minds, for sure. But I think I can count on BB not to fall into feeling pressure to rack up numbers for Amendola. Main goals for early games will be 1) to win and 2) lay some foundations for development of the whole team over the season.

Odd game last night. Lots of ugly moments. In the end, Broncos looked pretty darned good (hurts to say that) while the Ravens looked terrible (kinda fun to say that). But ... it's a long season.

In 2007 I can remember 2 similar instances where I heard media chirping about us running up the score. The Bengals game we were up 27-13, Brady throws a redzone TD late to make it 34-13. The Cowboys game it was 41-27, we RAN a FB dive that went for a TD late to make it 48-27. Yes, a running play and reporters were asking Brady after the game if the Cowboys might take offense to that.

Couldn't agree more..... had it been us last night stomping the ratbirds, instead of making TFB the second coming of ************ all over the web, all you'd hear is whining about running up the score horse$hit, and calls to 'strip' TFB of the 7-TD tying record accomplishment because 1 or TD were illegitimate.... FML

But because it's the forehead, we have just witnessed the best football performance EVER.

Isn't it fantastic that someone can refer to "The Forehead" and we all know who that person is talking about.

Hey Chasa - based on how they looked last night, they are going to have to get Ray Rice much more involved in their game plan.

There shall be only one forehead reigning the NFL.... ;)

Definitely, but i think the Ravens are going to run into the situation that the vikings did last year.

The ravens have one receiver, and half a tight end at the moment. So load 8 in the box, give some safety help over torrey smith, and force ray rice to beat you on the ground.

Ray rice is not the power back that AP is, And i dont see Ray Ray carrying the team.

If flacco doesn't start completing more shorter passes its going to be a bad year for ratbirds.
