Re: Re: Mods pulled the plug before Last Rites could be delivered

Holy cow! Rigor Mortis hadn't even set in on the dearly departed Tim Tebow before the moderators shut down my second favorite thread, "Re: Has Tim Tebow earned a roster spot on the Patriots?"

I went over there to say "Aloha, Mr Hand," to Tebow and his followers and was shut out! I hope none of you gentlemen and ladies work for the county coroner. You'd start the autopsy before the departed finished his last meal.

Shouldn't there be like a cooling off period before a thread like that gets shut down, say the amount of time it would take a player to clean out his locker and feed the fish one last time at Bass Pro Shops at Patriot Place?

P.S. My favorite thread is "The Jets Suck" thread - maybe that should be closed too. Like Tebow, what's the point of driving another nail into that coffin?

GH with all due respect you're out of line here, the thread was closed in favor of the Tebow cut thread, you're acting as if the MOD's shut down any and all Tebow discussions, which they did not. Their responsible for properly managing the site and its traffic both for back end reasons as well as user experience, what they did makes complete sense.

Given this is a free site that Ian and his team support solely to provide us fans a great place to come, I think its disrespectful to open a thread in an effort to call them out, if you had an issue with what was done you could of used a PM and questioned them, this was unnecessary and quite frankly surprising coming from you who I have always seen as an asset to the board.

Re: Your P.S: The Jets are STILL in the NFL. That's the difference.

I'm not the Mod who closed the thread you wanted to post in either.

But I did merge your thread into this one. No need for a separate thread on the same subject. You can do your victory dance here.

Six Degrees of Tebow Nation

Okay this was inspired by the following....

OK, I really don't hate him, but This belongs here.

Wait I've got it... it's the heir apparent angle...

Kim Jong-Il
Kim Il-Sung
Kim Jong-Un
Kim Ti-Bow!!!!

Now clearly the above doesn't adhere to the original rules of 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon as applied to Tebow, but it's in the same spirit.

I would however like to see Tebow mockery continued, or even Tebow defense, or Tebow neutrality for that matter, because I found the whole distraction to be such a gloriously insane way to spend an offseason otherwise marred by Hernandez, etc. (In fact, you have to wonder whether he lasted so long because it's a distraction not involving multiple murders... but I digress.)

So to start us off, I'll do the 6 Degrees of Tebow Nation from.... Thomas Jefferson! (And I call that as soon as you complete a 6-step program, you get to throw out the next challenge!)

1. Thomas Jefferson authored the Declaration of Independence
2. Harry Truman is from Independence, Missouri
3. Truman Capote shares a name with Harry Truman (although not named after him per se...)
4. Truman Capote was born in New Orleans, LA
5. The Superdome is in New Orleans, LA
6. Tim Tebow won the Sugar Bowl against Cincinatti New Year's Day 2010, in the Superdome in New Orleans.

Next challenge - Jay Z!
And... GO!!!

I closed the thread - so I'll take full blame/credit - how ever it's viewed. Unfortunately goheels22002, we don't need the board dominated by discussion about him any more, and I know you were just trying to get a shot back in at some of the nastier of Tebow's followers. Fortunately many of them were good and classy people, but there were a few who were tougher than others.

Time to start shifting the focus toward the Bills and "the guys who are here" - which includes some guys who are definitely worth talking about. Plenty of reasons to like this roster. Should be a fun year

From my vantage point, this sure looks like the right decision and it also looks like BB and McDaniels gave Tebow every opportunity.

It's also fair, I think, to say that the Broncos gave him an honest shot. One can argue that trading him was in Tebow's best interests with the arrival of Peyton Manning (not to mention the sweet deal that the idiots Johnson and Tannenbaum gave Elway for TimT and a draft pick).

I do wonder whether being part of the Rex Ryan **** Show wasn't bad for his development. But, all in all, he was probably never going to make it as an NFL QB and this is one we can't blame on the Circus in the Meadowlands.

He sure seems to be a good guy, who also earned the respect of Robert Kraft and probably would have been a positive presence in the locker room. I think as true fans of the sport that we can only wish him well, wherever his future lies.

Pats organization is a class act. I'm surprised they cut Tebow, but hey they felt he wasn't one of the best 53. Can't hate on BB for that.

My hope was that Tebow could be developed into a valuable trade commodity that could be benefit the Pats down the line.

In the interim, I felt it was a great situation to have Tebow around the locker room for his very high character, for his leadership value and because of other very important intangibles that he possesses such as work ethic and love for the game. I felt such traits were also a very positive thing for impressionable, young fans who also follow this team.

I am disappointed that it didn't work out but am clearly in the "it is what it is" camp.

OTOH, his Florida coach had him be a room mate to APerp. It didn't seem to help much. In the end, every adult is responsible for his own actions.:(

One does not simply...

Release Tim Tebow.

Yes. One should hold on to him for a long, long time before the release. It's only fitting.

Sorry Ian, I just keep finding this guy so much fun. I swear in my heart I'm getting ready for the Bills game...

Maybe if they give him five years or so he could improve on his accuracy too.

Thank goodness this distraction is out of New England and we can focus on true Patriots football again, not the Tebow sideshow.

Too easy...

Jay Z is friends with Kanye West
Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift getting her award
Taylor Swift was rumored to have had dinner/dated Tim Tebow :)

That's a good idea, PFiV. Tebow may be the Bills starting QB next Sunday.

Dude, you have to name the next challlenge

Edit - but good one!

Edit - Assuming I should have said dudette or something gender-neutral now that I look @ your screen-name, sorry... although the kids seem to use the unisex "dude" these days...

What a complete and utter waste of offseason snaps for Mallett.

You can say that about every player loses snaps to someone that gets cut

You miss my point. We all know Tebow has been cut. Zoltan Mesko was also cut and has already issued a statement through his facebook page. Tebow, who is a national media star and has over 2 million twitter followers has said nothing in over 3 hours. Please keep in mind that these rosters are never "set" and moves made today are reversible at any time. ;)

Toyin' with the haters is fun. :D

Or it just could be that Mesko is being the classier act today. Occam's razor and all that.

Just toyin' with a toyer. :D

Mixed feelings for me on this one....

On one hand,Tebow is a great guy and a great type of person to have on your team who you know won't ever say a dumb derogatory thing about another team or player and who can certainly help a locker room who needs some positive outlook and upbeat personality inside.

On the other hand,Tebow has little skills as an NFL QB and was given a chance to learn and compete and failed at his chance to outdo Mallett and found himself with little reason to be on this roster.

Perhaps he finds a team like Buffalo or Jacksonville who is so light at QB that they can add him on and he remains in the league or if he doesn't there is always an opportunity of ministry or some kind of employment of a religious nature that he can certainly be a role model for the younger crowd who is just learning about God.

I honestly think this is in Tebow's best interests. If he is serious about someday becoming a starting QB in the NFL again then he should find CFL team with a really good OC/QB coach, or head coach with the same qualities, go to Canada and win a starting job so he can get the real game reps to change his mechanics and game to the point where he can actually throw the ball with the accuracy of an NFL QB, which he clearly cannot at this point in time.

As has been noted elsewhere, the CFL is a passing league. Tim Tebow's weakness is passing. That doesn't seem to be a good fit.

for what it's worth I hope this is not the last time we see tebow in this league. Would be vindication for the virtues of hard work and determination if this reclamation project ever pans out. I think BB will be keeping tabs on Tebow's subsequent development even after this cut.
