Bills might start Jeff Tuel against Pats

FWIW, It's not totally clear to me that they've announced Tuel as the starter per se. It seems more like they're saying "we'll proceed for now as if Tuel will be starting, pending Manuel's recovery."

Either way it serves absolutely nothing to make any kind of announcement. Why waste breath? Let everyone else figure it out.

This defense got lit up by Dan Orlovsky and Rex Grossman not too long ago. Vince Young also threw for 400+ yards. Mark Sanchez also had quite a bit of success.

Until the D proves otherwise, no reason to think Tuel can't do it too...

This defense and the 2011 defense are different

And is 19 for 32 for 252 yards (Rex Grossman) really lighting up a defense?

Should I bench Andrew Luck and start this guy for my fantasy team in Week 1?

Luck is playing the Raiders at home. I'd start every Colt on my roster if I played FF.

Maybe in personnel but in results? That remains to be seen.

Maybe not for a good QB, but for Rex Grossman, definitely.

He drove the Skins down the field and got them in position for a game tying TD before he was picked if I remember correctly....

The starting defense has looked pretty decent this preseason

Against one the worst pass defenses ever, no it's not.

Gee, SB1, I sure hope that Patriot starting safeties James Ihedigbo and Matthew Slater (go back and read the recap of that game) play better for us against the Bills!

Well I guess its a good thing that they have CJ Spiller and a "better defensive line" than the Lions.....The Bills win 41-8 and SPiller runs for like a 1000 yards against us....the Pats always have next year to win the division...Go Bills! :rocker:

He's an UDFA and he's even close to starting a game in his rookie season? We have Tebow, who we should keep on the roster, even though he can't even throw a ball in his 4th season. Hilarious!

That's the mandatory Tebow reference, sorry.

But it is interesting. So much for "it takes 4 years to learn how to throw a ball and another 5 to read a defense".

Normally I would laugh at playing against a rookie bottom of the barrel NFL borderline QB ..but any Patriots fan here knows the team has a habit of making rookie QBs look like Joe Montana so lets not be too excited yet

Well if that's the case I just made the easiest $50 I will ever make.

Guy bet me $50 bills will beat/kill the pats even..no points

The team's veteran (Kolb) and 1st round rookie (Manuel) are both injured. They just signed Matt Leinhart, for crying out loud. Tuel's not (potentially) getting the start because he's earned it. He's getting it because he's basically the last healthy man standing.

It will be the Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller show for the Bills in week 1

Just like when TJ Yates was put into the starting QB role for the Texans, the Bills will rely on their two solid rushers and their defense to keep them in games.

BTW: Spiller will be back by opening day from what I hear.

And hurt again shortly thereafter. There is a reason the old regime used him sparingly. Better to get 7-10 carries and few punt returns out of him than nothing and all. And that is exactly what will happen for multiple weeks at a time if this regime decides to give him the ball 20+ times a game when he's healthy.

Hopefully in 10 years there won't be an ESPN special titled "The Tuel 57" (or whatever the number is).

We'll win the game while making him look like a 1st rounder.

Or lose the game making him look like a 1st rounder. The Pats suck when it comes to playing against rookie and backup QB's.

Bills planning to start Jeff Tuel against Pats

The pats better come out with their head on straight and not taking the bills lightly. But I still see us winning the game.
