Gronk Makes a Donation & Saves Brockton Pop Warner Football

re: Gronk Makes a Donation & Saves Brockton Pop Warner Football

I saw the interview of him on the news earlier today; it is actually “cute” to see how uncomfortable Gronkowski feels about being the role model type, he clearly sees as a big kid himself and has the approach that he is just giving his buddies some equipment to ball with, what is all the fuss about. It is comforting to see a player contributing to the community and not being overjoyed to share is prepared statement to the press. I know Gronkowski gets a lot of slack for being immature but I find him to be a good guy that you can point to and say look at that 23 year old guy, he works hard, plays by the rules, and still is able to enjoy his life.

I wish I could find the article where Gronk talks about his finances, how he manages his money and investments and how he learned from his Dad. Comes across totally unexpectedly differently and more maturely than in other situations.

maybe he is simply unusually adept at separating business from pleasure......

you make it sound like he's stupid for having fun

Makes me think of the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks.

Gronk obviously likes to have fun, and comes off as goofy sometimes, but he was obviously brought up right, and is a good person.

Gronk obviously has his views as to which parts of life:

  • He's already had to or felt he should grow up in.
  • He's in no hurry to grow up in.
  • He's under pressure to grow up in but really doesn't want to.
I don't have a lot to criticize about how he's chosen so far.

100% not trying to take away from how awesome this is, but just to put in perspective just how much money these guys make...

Gronk's contract averages $8.8 million per year. As a percentage of income, the $45,000 he donated is roughly the equivalent of a $500 donation from someone making $100,000.

Thanks Gronk! Nice gesture!

If I understand correctly, all #3 Homer is saying is that he wishes the public got a balanced view of Gronk instead of being left with the impression that he's immature and a goofball. It has nothing to do with Gronk's actual behavior, it has to do with the media exposure.

Well done Gronk.

Hope he didn't spike any of the kids.

Class move by Gronkowski-love to see the altruistic nature of the Patriots helping people in the community.

I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter if he makes 100 million a year, he doesn't have to share any. Nor should he be expected to. If he only donated some old equipment he had in his garage, i would applaud him. I think your 100K comparison IS trying to take away from the awesomeness of his deed.

Very good gesture by another patriot :rocker:
