Dolphins Cut Richard Marshall

His troubles have come when he's asked to play as a starter outside. Doesn't sound like the solution to the Pats' problems.

Well maybe as a reserve guy he'd be fine, but your probably right as for him being a starter.

Dolphins release cornerback Richard Marshall | ProFootballTalk

Injuries limited Marshall to four games in his first season with the Dolphins. In early November, Marshall landed on injured reserve.

Cutting him allows the Dolphins to avoid a $4.55 million base salary. He instantly becomes a free agent.

The Dolphins tried to trade Marshall, but no one was willing to absorb his contract, which also had a $5.3 million base salary in 2014.

Sign The Beast...

...if he can pass Bill's physical...and if he accepts slightly above vet minimum + service time,
plus some makeable when healthy incentives.

Sure, could be a decent pickup for cheap.

didn't I argue with you all the time years back?....krist, it's like your reading my mind...exactamundo...vet minimum +/- 10%...if he's Dowling II then you move on not much worse for wear.

he's a little light in the seat at 190 to play safety...he's a nickel back IMO.

He played it some in AZ I thought. I was thinking strictly in passing situations.

Unless they turned Ras-IR into a cyborg, the team needs more decent CBs. I'm all for them bringing in pretty much everyone they can think of for a test drive.

Generally speaking, I can't stand the "this guy's available, lets sign him" routine, but in this case I think it's worth exploring.

If the price is right, go for it. With Dennard's situation up in the air, Talib's durability issues, and Dowling's inevitable IR trip, I wouldn't mind someone unseating Cole for the last CB spot. I'd like 5 actual corners instead of 4 (with one being a rookie and another having alot of trouble when forced outside lately) plus a ST guy.

I'd bring him in for the sheer fact it's

A.) Camp competition from an NFL vet at a young position

and

B.) Ask him the type of techniques that are being worked on in the Miami secondary. How are they doing X Y Z?

Definitely worth the quick look IMO.

If Marshall can still play, I imagine there will be plenty of competition for his services. How many teams feel great about their DB depth?

Post back surgery, he looks like he's cooked. But, as has been mentioned, CB is a need. Wish the team would have brought in Grimes but c'est la vie.

a trial run? if he's cheap and willing to play on a prove it 1 year deal sure. if he's looking for his original salary... forget it!

Pats could always use another CB and his signing may cost Tebow a roster spot- win- win!:D
