I don't see Tim sticking if he's here as a QB prospect. I can't think of any viable QB prospects who are QB3/emergency QBs and there's a reason for that. No I think that ship has left port and sailed away, he is clearly behind Mallett by several lengths at this point...although I think his presence wasn't a small factor in Mallett's improvement (so far) in this preseason.

I still think there is something else planned for him, and I hope we see that plan unveiled soon.

I agree and have said that that's my preference. I still think they want him to succeed as a 3rd string QB to provide that added value.

I hope we see that plan unveiled soon.

Not so sure about this though. I can see this being kept under wraps through pre-season.

Read this page and then tell me space aliens don't walk among us...

Tebow's performance against Tampa - Page 3

never mind the mind numbing, mystifying moronicism of Sports Blob Brandi...reading quotes like "Belichick didn't WANT Tebow to make first downs!" and then citing an interview Bill did, that I heard along with thousands of other Pats fans, as proof that Tebow didn't really play bad Friday is so far beyond the world record for LSD overdose induced insanity that I want to call Guinness World Records Inc. to make an official decision.

I've generally stayed away from this thread, but I gotta say that link is a blend of denial, delusion and I think outright visual hallucinations! I'm more amazed though as to how you (Joker) found it!

I dunno, seems to be a fair amount of sanity on that thread.

But we can't keep explaining away every bad thing he does as someone else's fault. It makes us look like nutjobs and does him a disservice. It's ok to admit he's just not that good right now. That doesn't mean you hate him or can't root for him to succeed.

I also believe it was not a great decision to throw either of the last 2 passes...

It does look like he's improving but for pete's sake he's played a whole games worth of snaps and completed 5/19 passes (26%) for 54 yards, 0 tds, and and int. Sometimes with the second team (eagles). That isn't good for little league. I just hope that it all clicks for him soon. I'm loosing hope fast.

But, he looked bad in this game. And, the stat line will live on in infamy.

Tebow was terrible by any measure last game, absolutely horrid. Bad decision after bad decision, and he seemed like a parody of what a Tebow hater says he throws like . The only person he can blame is himself.
Players have good days and bad days , he has had 2 bad games in a row on what is certainly a dwindling amount of chances to prove a lot of people wrong.

If that's a homer board, it's a remarkably honest one. Good for them.

"Tim's play on offense was not to make 1st downs...touchdowns sure, but not 1st downs."

Manx - if someone made a statement like that on this board, what would you call it?

One statement in a sea of statements.

If one person makes a dumb statement on this board, do we write the whole board off?

I haven't found that particular statement yet so can't see the context but then I am skim-reading.

Personally - I think the statement is reflective of an excuse for bad play and since BB has become the head of operations for the Patriots, if there is one thing that we don't expect him to tolerate is bad play. Tebow has been the embodiment of bad play in the first two pre-season games.

I don't make excuses for his play and if he played well, it would be acknowledged. What I do know, is that the excuses for Tebow's bad play need to end.

Any single statement should not be how any thread is judged. Based on what manxman2601 posted that thread is fair .

Betty, we get enough Tebow negativity from the haters, some of whom lurk in these forums and "report back" to other forums, mocking what we've said here. I'm not sure how it's productive or helpful for Tim for the people who have been strongly supportive of him to start having doubts about him and expressing them publicly.

I'm only saying I think Tim has improved because I do think he has improved. Not just saying it to cheer some of the mopey-faced folks in here up a bit. Glad it did so for you, but just remember I said it because I believe it, not because of wishful thinking.

so..it is "MOCKING!" to call the insane insane?..c'mon...this clown has NO DEFENSE for his idiocy.

Because while we here may look at all of this Commentary, "Analysis", etc., over 90% of NFL Fans don't look at any of it. They don't care. They know what they like and see no reason to devote any time to listening to others' opinions.

I find it difficult to fault them for that. For all of the talk of what Tebow Fans have "said", the reality is that, for the most part, it's come down to "Play Tim Tebow. You'll Win." Given what he's done when he's actually been on the Field in QBing actual Games, can anyone HONESTLY say they've been wrong. At least so far.

so..WE are ignorant morons who devote little time to actually unstanding pro football, we do not care about the Patriots (by direct inference), we just like Brady and therefore hate Tebow....and THIS from this so called Genius who thinks "motus operendi" is an actual linguistic term.

So, I, as a fan, will just blame the entire fiasco on the crummy center. But, this board won't let me get away with that. We want Tim to be one of those quarterbacks that makes the whole team better. So, we're gonna look at the whole thing and speak our minds. You know, after a year of the Jets, after Tim shockingly got bounced from the Broncos, and all the haters on other boards who offer no actual analysis of why things are not right, it is really hard to watch when Tim isn't doing his razzle dazzle. I, also, secretly wish that it was a mad scheme for Tebow to burst forth on some TD earning move
I don't mind you saying that Tebow has improved. Come back everyday and say that, so that I can have positive hope that he will not get cut. I really want him to make the team.

Well, I hope the third-string center is getting instruction from someone on how to hike the ball. Sure hope it wasn't on purpose to make Tim look bad. That's a viable theory, too.

Matt Stankiewitch hiked the ball badly ON PURPOSE! Of course...to make Tim Tebow look bad. That's IT!!! THAT'S why!!! This jerk signed the 5th of August who played 35 snaps in the game DELIBERATELY tried to make Tebow look bad!!! Because THAT is how you impress the coaches!!

Well I think if people on a completely different board want to excuse his play, then that's up to them. There hasn't been much in the way of excuse making on this forum and that's what matters.

The thing is, no-one outside the Patriot team and coaches knows what's really going on with the Pats and Tebow. Maybe Joker's right and they are re-building Tebow from the bottom up. That would certainly "excuse" Tebow's play and explain BB's comment today.

But it is more likely that he had two bad games. Personally I think he should be given longer before he gets written off completely.

I have to confess the deliberate bad snap comment does qualify for  status.

The more I think about it, and since it has been referenced on more than one occasion, Tebow will play out the last two games, especially the fourth game, and he will be cut. No one is going to sign him in all liklihood. He will hang around. He will probably get a futures contract and someone like Daboll will work with him. That would be fair to the Patriots, to those fighting for a roster spot, and to Tebow. But - he is not making this 53-man roster unless he provides some form of role on this team and for this year which no one has seen other than punt protection in camp.

In the last 2 preseason games I have seen Tebow throw some of the best laser spirals I've seen him throw his entire NFL career to date. They weren't all caught (some not his fault) and some were off the mark a little (some his fault), but I am extremely encouraged to see improvement in some areas that we haven't seen noticeable improvement in before now.

I rest my case.

I still don't understand the obsession with other forums , it still perplexes me.

This is likely the way its going to roll (sigh).

There is still a chance he uncorks a good game though... Tebow has a way of making everyone right ...

it's not an obsession...it's a look at the two faced nature of a certain collective as they make statements that contradict the ones they make here. This is a well known and often used tool here in regards to the horde of Jet fans who post their hatred unabashedly at THEIR sites and then claim "I'm a reasonable Jet fan" when they log into Patsfans. The same phenomenon is in play regarding the 'Bowites.

I'm certainly moving more to the getting cut camp than a couple of weeks ago but it is by no means a given. If BB did have another role for Tebow, it's not one he's going to put out there for reporters and fans to see at TC. It's one he's going to keep for the two weeks of private practice that is just starting. We're also unlikely to see it in pre-season games.

make no mistake about it where I stand on Tebow vis a vis the Patriots...I firmly believe he HAS already made the 53 man roster. I would like to have depth at the DT position or secondary instead of a 3rd QB but I'm just a fan and if Bill deems Tebow good enough for the 53 I'm fine with that.

What I am NOT fine with is the silence immediately following Friday's game, followed up by this eventual "he really didn't do that bad...it was the other guy's fault!!!" narrowly focused propaganda a few days later. I'm a PATRIOTS fan. I take this constant Tebowing as an affront to the body of work of Tom Brady and a slap in the face of all rabid Patriot fans, as if there is any other kind. To call us "uninformed", "casual", "fat, stupid and lazy fanship" is enraging in its total utter ignorance.

I agree with everything that you have said other than the second sentence.

Based on demonstrated performance in pre-season games, Tebow does NOT deserve to be on this team. But BB seems to be adopting a different standard in evaluating Tebow. Namely his dazzling performances in "practice" which was missed by members of the media attending. But which was captured on the coaches tape for BB's review.

What happens in God-forbid real games-- the ones that count. When Tebow lays the proverbial golden goose egg, BB will surely inform us that in practice, Tebow had shown definite improvement. Nevermind the loss.

In the meantime, a valuable roster spot which otherwise would go to a player who could actually help in one of the three phases of the game will be occupied by the uncriticizable, coaches favorite Tebow.

Truly mystical, enchanting Tebow.

I realize that b...I admit I am in the minority on this subject...in fact, besides the T Nation collective, I'm one of the few Patriot fans that see value in keeping Tebow as a 3rd qb. I just have a long memory in regards to BB and HIS decisions in the interest of the Patriots. I gave up a long time ago 2nd guessing his moves, because when compared to the hits and misses of other organizations...well...the Pats record speaks for itself.

Colleges and universities are moving wholesale to the read option offense for their football teams. I suspect, as this filters into the talent pool going forward, more and more NFL draftees at QB will be read option players and more teams will put it to use. I think having Tebow on the roster and working an offense specific to his skills is a step toward moving to the R/O post Brady. We didn't see the R/O last Friday, but I personally witnessed the Pats devoting many reps to it in camp, so there IS intent on BB's part.

Time will tell and I could be wrong as a left turn over a cliff, but at the end of the day, we're still Patriots fans...which is good enough for me.
