"Tim Tebow didn’t suddenly “forget” how to throw the Football. The National Football League just forgot how to Play Football. But that will change soon."

One of my Inalienable Rights of All Sports Fans is…Sports Fans are not required to explain why they feel the way they do…about a Sport, a Coach/Manager, a General Manager, a Player or a Team. The instant you expect people to be “rational”, you have to stop calling them Fans and start calling them something else. What? I don’t know. Chumps, maybe. It doesn’t matter. Fans like who they like…don’t like who they don’t like…love who they love and hate who they hate.

Re: Bill belichick hints at running wildcat (in practice) and why patriots have tim t

SOME of that is tied directly to the perception that "Tebow Fans" are "Southern Redneck Gun Totin', Kid Whippin' Moonshine Drinkin' NASCAR Lovin 'TeaBaggers'".

That's not true. I know for a fact that some Tebow Fans like to drink beer.

Re: Bill belichick hints at running wildcat (in practice) and why patriots have tim t

Any play where Brady comes off the field for not only Tebow, but for Tebow to run that gimmick offense that has gone the way of the dinosaur in the NFL, is a play that's a huge mistake.

I don't think we will be running wildcat once the season is underway. BB is all about preparations, and I have had this feeling for a while that Tebow is here only to simulate some option plays that guys like Kaepernick and RG3 are running.

In my opinion all the comments and evidence also support the thought that this has only been about preparation against different types of offense.

Only way I see Tebow making the roster is if they see him as a worthwhile QB project, which I highly doubt.

I tend to agree that there won't be many (if any) instances where Brady is taken off the field to run a gadget play via Tebow, and that part of it is just to add to the defensive coordinator's list of things to do for the week.

On the other hand, I still think that Tebow makes it. I kind of have a hard time believing that he'd have been brought here knowing that all that fuss would come with it, only to be cut in training camp. It's still very possible that Belichick keeps him on the roster in my opinion.

Brady is never coming off the field and shouldn't .

Its up in the air if they keep Tebow or not but I am leaning towards they will. We will see soon enough.

I mean, we all agree with your first statement for sure; but a prime example of where Brady coming off the field in some instances would be in the middle of a 30 point lead, or even later in the second half for a play or two here and there.

If that's ever the case then it could have benefit in forcing some of the future opposing teams to help to prepare for something that may/may not be used, and we all know that Belichick is a stickler for situational football and forcing every opposing coach to spend a timeout or prepare for things that won't even happen.

We all wouldn't mind seeing Mallett come in during those situations, so actually having Tebow come in for a handful of plays here and there may prove to be very beneficial.

Re: Bill belichick hints at running wildcat (in practice) and why patriots have tim t

The alarm in his studio apartment must have went off once their sensors picked up something even remotely negative being said about Tebow.

My post was a poor one to respond to, though, not only because the thread title was edited after I had made my post, but also because of how easy it was to turn around on him by asking if he disagreed that it would be a horrible idea to take Brady off the field for Tebow. I'm guessing I won't get a response back.

I think youre missing the beauty of Tebow on the roster.

Brady isnt coming off. Tebow is coming in with Brady and would be in the backfield. Now, defenses have to respect Tebow running the WILDCAT and Brady with the pass.

Trust me, the Pats are going build Tebows value up for a trade. He will fetch a higher pick than Mallet. Watch and see.

I see 3 ways he could contribute during the regular season:
1) With large margin lead, he could be effective in grinding down the clock in the 4th quarter. If this is something he could excel at, then I can definitely imagine him making the cut.
2) His great personality and work ethcis would definitely boost teams morale in practices and in the locker room.
3) He would give us better quality practice against option style offenses, than anyone else in our roster can offer.

But I still don't see enough there to warrant a roster spot. And the biggest reason why, is that he just simply cannot run the same style of offense Brady and Mallett can. For that reason, he would not actually be a backup for anyone, just an unique skillset role player, with a role that has never existed in our roster before.

Anyways, I'm nearly 99% sure he wont be kept as a depth player, and 80% sure he won't be kept as a developmental player. If they manage to tailor him a viable role where he can contribute (such as the clock management QB suggested), then I will gladly eat some crow.

I agree with you. I think this is exactly what Belechick envisioned when he made the move.Add to that the fact that the Jets game is game 2 at home...what better way to drive the wooden spike into the heart of the green Jetpire than Tebow scoring from the five on a direct snap off a Brady fake....I DREAM about this I want it so bad. The NY press would IMMOLATE that fat slob on the back covers.

You won't be hearing one word from me about eating crow. It's a very controversial subject that there really isn't a current clear cut answer on, at least in my opinion. I mean, obviously we'll all know one way or another in a few weeks--but until then, let the speculation run freely.

One other aspect that may be pointed out however, is the fact that Belichick tends to really focus on players who have good work ethics, are intelligent, have good drive, enjoy playing the game, can make progress over time, and have a knack for playing hard-nosed football. He has a tendency to turn those traits into something more acceptable on some level over time.

That, and the fact that Kraft may appreciate the fact that he's got some higher quality "off the field" characteristics at this present moment. That certainly can't hurt considering the off season of negative attention that we've had. Both Kraft and Belichick are very high on players with this kind of positive attitude, especially as it pertains to the ties and volunteer work of the community.

Just something to keep in the back of your head, although no one will claim that he'll be kept if he's a detriment to the team on the field either.

A lot of good points and the way Kraft has been talking about him it's hard to believe he will be gone in a few weeks.

Robert Kraft calls Tebow 'the real deal,' roots for him to make roster - NFL - Sporting News

Small excerpt from article.

"I don't get why people wouldn't relate to this guy big-time," Kraft said Friday. "For us, it was a great opportunity that he was on the street, not hired, and to have him come to our franchise. We like to collect people of good character."

Oh, there's no doubt that both he and Belichick see things that they like about him.

The "balance" so to speak will be finding him a role with the team where he can offer some contribution in actual gameplay, but I just have a feeling that they'll come up with something.

Either way I don't think they'll give up on him already. If that were to come it'd likely be sometime next year instead.

Belichick is a good coach. He will play to Tebow's strengths and put him in a role that will help the PATS win football games.

Re: Bill belichick hints at running wildcat (in practice) and why patriots have tim t

Dear Santa,

For Christmas this year, I'd like Belichick and McDaniels to run a lot of "wildcat" in the preseason when the third string quarterback is on the field so other teams have to expend a great deal of time getting ready for it in the regular season.

If you can fit it in your big ol' sack of toys, I'd also like to never see the third string quarterback on the field in the regular season or playoffs except on special teams.

XOXOX

goheels22002

p.s. Santa, please don't forget to make sure the Jets suck again in 2013 like every other year and the priceless horrible Jets play that keeps the guys who make GIFs in business.

Can't wait to see what happens with Tebow. Especially week two.
