Reiss assistant Mike Rodak got the job from being a Patsfans poster?

Couldnt you guys come up with this story earlier this off-season? it could have been a bit more interesting off-season.

Since Ian has not said something about who I think it is - I'll reiterate that it is indeed Metaphors.

If you read his posts - it is worth reviewing how he writes and what his opinions are.

If it is not Metaphors, it would not surprise me if that user was some form of past or present journalism student or one that has taken journalism classes.

Lol, still no :D Though as I tell my kids, I still won't be able to divulge it even in the unlikely event it appears in this thread. But so far not yet :)

Huh - I am a little surprised that it isn't him. I figure that he has been a long-time member of the board and based on his postings, some of the nuances (i.e. not one single like of anothers' postings) that it could have been him and the use of a generic member name (like Metaphors) that symbolizes his writing style would have been a clue....

Either way - congrats to Mike and I hope that he takes the opportunity that he has to meet his career endeavors.

Coincidentally enough I was just offered a position at Modern Drunkard based on my writing here.

I'm calling BS. I have been reading your posts for years and nothing about them screams modern. :)

ouch...brutal

Ian, have they ever held the position of Moderator?

Ha ha, I think I've sussed it.....

You know there is one guy that is rarely on here making posts...but when he does,it's very informative, long drawn out and more knowledgable than most in here as if he knows a lot of inside stuff.

His member name is 'ZEUS'

Guys I first want to say thank you for the support. I've been busting my butt for the last couple years working on my writing and haven't had the time to post on here, but those who know me know I have a passion for sports writing.

The job offer was just too good from Mike to pass up.

I do plan to still post on the site. At first I thought it would be a good idea to keep it a secret but I figured what the heck.

I hope I make all of you proud.

Well, since I haven't made my official guess, I am guessing Keegs. Ian am I right?

Congrats Mike.

Keegs would make sense since he was very active a few years ago and then slowly stopped posting as much.

Now can we start gathering evidence for Reiss's username?!? :D

I would have guessed Box O Rocks or Unoriginal. The latter is the most knowledgeable poster on this site but I feel like he's older than 30.

Well, I thought I'd be clever and search the member lst for "rodak." Because, you know, we all use our real names. Came up with a bobrodak; pretty sure it's not Mike based on posts. But there aren't a whole lot of Rodaks out there so Bob: if you're listening, help us out. ;)

I've been following along with this thread closely (Mike is my younger brother), but he has sworn me to secrecy when it comes to revealing his user name! I will say that none of the guesses so far are correct.

Our whole family is very proud of him and excited for the next step in his career at ESPN, which will be announced soon. Although I can take credit for first introducing him to the Pats when he was a little kid, his posting at patsfans is truly how he developed his football knowledge and passion as a teenager, and helped him get his foot in the door with Mike Reiss a few years ago.

Zeus is probably the best pure writer on this forum. He's not the best football mind, he's not the funniest, he's not the most prolific but his actual phrasing and wordsmith are joys to behold.

That doesn't make him fit for journalism, however.

Congrats to Keegs. I think we've all fantasized about making covering sports our job, I know I did back in my early 20s.

Congrats. I remember your posts being on point (and now to know how young you were!). Your success is likely (hopefully) behind your ability to see the important stuff versus the sexy, meaningless stuff. Historically, Reiss has left the hyperbole and sensationalism behind and wrote about football. That's why he is respected here.

As a fan who has lived through so many writers who focus on the gossip and not the game, I crave the Reiss's of the world and the posters of your type. As a fan, I feel great that a "yout" such has yourself has worked his way into a field he wanted to be in.

Well done.

Sebman is one of the few young guys who would seem to make sense to me.
