Dennard Testing New Patriot Way

I am tired of hearing about the Patriot Way. This whole Patriot way of getting good citizens is a media creation. The Patriot Way was getting players who were dedicated to football and would put team work and the team's goals over personal glory. Guys like Corey Dillon, Bryan Cox, and others would never have fit into the media's definition of the Patriot Way.

Patriot way died when Welker got shipped to Denver while Ahern got 40 mil. Now it might be a street in Foxboro.

Welker was hardly the poster boy for the "Patriot Way"

So with that, we have been introduced to a new rule for the Patriots in the last few weeks. The rule is:

If you get arrested, you will be released from the team without delay.

Let's examine the tenets of the rule and see if they comply with the three elements of a rule stated in the first sentence.

Welcome to Small Sample Size Theatre! :bricks:

Bob: please stop digging.

What a load of crap. This sentence is such bull**** it makes Tomase look like Walter Cronkite.

Kraft specifically tied the release of Hernandez to being arrested in conjunction with a murder investigation.

Why is horse**** like this even linked to this forum?

Please elaborate why not, and give some examples of such poster boys (explaining why they are more poster worthy than Welker).

Wow! You really need this explained? I have a better idea. I will give you some hints. You either don't understand what the "Patriot Way" is or don't follow the team that closely. Or just have your own opinion about what the PW is. Or are just looking to argue.

Here is a hint. Think about Tedy Bruschi as a person/teammate/player/leader. Or better yet how about Troy Brown. Or Tom Brady. Or Mayo or McCourty, Slater etc

Now tell me the difference between guys like that and Wes Welker.

Also, if you could elaborate how the "Patriot Way" died when WW "got shipped" to Denver? That would be helpful.

Oh, and here is some more helpful info. WW wasn't "shipped" to Denver. "Shipped" means the team "sent" him there or brought him there. Did the Pats trade WW to Denver? No. Did they intentionally send him there? No.

So, what is all this "Shipped" stuff?

Bob, please give it up. Your fantasy fueled anti-Patriots bias is excelled only by your failed attempts at sports writing.

The "Patriot Way" is a load of crap and always was. It's an ideal...an ideal that ALL teams generally aspire to.

Personally, I don't think the Patriots should cut a starter just because he got a DUI. Fringe guys get cut because of things like this, which is the only thing he did wrong while being a Patriot, as far as I know. Dunno what kind of leash they have him on or how this arrest will affect his probation for assaulting a freakin' police officer the same week as the draft. Then there's that whole jail thing looming over his head...may go to jail earlier now. May get suspended...

But he hasn't even been convicted of anything yet. You can get out of these things even if you are guilty sometimes with a good lawyer. Better call Saul. Bruce Smith was charged with DUI after the police found him friggin' PASSED OUT behind the wheel in the middle of the street late at night, but his lawyer called it "sleep apnea" and the whole thing was dropped.

What do you think Brady thinks about Wes as a person/teammate/player/leader?

I don't see any difference between guys like that and Wes Welker other than that four of them are on the team , please educate me, that is why I asked. What exactly has Welker done that makes him far removed from the Patriot Way? Also if all the so called Patriot Way players are the above six (two of which don't even play anymore)or some small minority out of hundreds in that timeframe then it is a non-existent thing anyway.

I dont care what TB thinks about Wes. If I had to bet I am sure TB likes him a lot. However what does what TB thinks have to do with what you posted..which was the PW dying and WW being shipped?

How did the Pats ship WW? Why did this PW die because they did not resign him? What does the PW have to do with signing players especially WW? You were so off by the comment it is hard to comprehend what you were actually trying to say.

The PW to me as I saw it was simple. Shut up and Do your talking on the field. What does it matter if players are on the team or not now? WW did things his way. Foot jokes at a press conference and "In Bills face" comments at an interview was everything that the PW diddnt stand for. And who knows what else he did when not in the spotlight.

Can you actually picture Brady, Brown, Bruschi, Mayo, McCourty doing that? Talking nonsense like that? No because that is not what the Pats are about.

If you want to get into the Pats" FO Way" then they continue to be consistent. Not signing WW (i.e. letting a player go a year earlier than a year later) is business as usual for this team. Their track record the past 13 years is proof.

Here is a chart illustrating the amount of arrests by team since 2000:

BN3OdErCIAAS7Ui.jpg:large

Eight other teams have fewer arrests than the Patriots since 2000, yet you don't hear about the Texans Way or the Rams Way...although, you can make that NINE fewer teams after Dennard's arrest, I guess. I'm sure other teams talk less smack too...not like the Patriots are above that. Smack ain't always bad, either. You know what some of these guys say to each other on the field? They're not boy scouts. Belichick probably wouldn't speak one damn word to the media if he didn't have to, or so it seems at times.

I read somewhere recently that 34 or 35 NFL players have been arrested since the Super Bowl...somewhere in the 30s, anyway.

Great chart.

Walker needs to step his game up down in Texas :)

I will say what I said last time: How does someone like Bob George become a "writer" for this forum? If he's getting paid to pump out this kind of crap, that is the exact reason why I refrain from reading most "writers" in sports media.

Give me a post from PatsFanKen any day over this bull****.

He is just doing his job, writing articles that will appeal to the masses. I get what you're saying but remember the masses aren't all knowledgable fans. The members of this forum are the minority so for him to write an article catered to us it would receive a lot less approval in the public. This article is what the public wants to hear, it's what the guys on WEEI are spewing. In this writers defense it's understandable that he didn't go against the grain, even if guys like you or I disagree.

Watch what you say or this thread too will get deleted.
