Dennard arrested for DUI

The Cinncinnati Bengals are kitty cats compared to the Pats if the Pats don't cut him.

The proud Patriots are turning into the Patsy's again right before are eyes.

As noted above, the Pats signed Stallworth, who committed DUI manslaughter, TWICE last season.

In any case, if he's cut, it's all but a given he'll be claimed off waivers, most likely by the Jaguars.

I agree with everyone here that he is stupid as hell. On the other hand if I were the Pats I would wait until I read the arrest report to see the strength of the case.

I have made a good amount of DUI arrests and it all comes down to the trial and the experience of the officer. When I was brand new I got crushed like all new officers do. I was smart and made a good 5 page DUI boiler plate and I won almost all my trials after my early failures. Word spread fast and almost the whole PD uses my boiler plate, because they too have gotten crushed.

I have seen field sobriety test conducted by other officers that I would have deemed the guy as passing and they turned around and arrested the guy only to have him blow .05. So what I am saying is two officers witnesses the same FST's and came to two different conclusions.

Your newer officers work the overnight shift and they are less experienced in testify in court and conducting FST's.

I hate to say this but I would do a wait and see on this one.

Re: dennard arrested

Maybe, the Pats need to hire some police to follow some of these guys around. It is very clear, that when these guys are on their own time, the Patriots TRUST them to do the right things off the field. Clearly, some of these players CAN NOT be trusted.

Just cut him and move on. Just because a player is a complete moron doesn't mean the team should form an entire monitoring dept. Just stop hiring morons.

too early to say something like this but i feel like the season is sunk (meaning no sb) before it even begins. every other year i felt there was a legit shot at going all the way.

To have put himself in this situation is idiotic and moronic... but at this stage he was arrested, not found guilty...

Will in all likelihood have a VOP accompanying this charge, he put himself in this situation..

Believe we will be talking about ex Patriot Dennard soon..

PFT is having a dull day, needs some salacious headlines..

No waiting just cut him. Bottom line you have to be an imbecile to pull something like this after what Hernandez did. On top of that due to his prior problems this idiot will get slammed hard by the judge up there not to mention the NFL. But ignore all that just cut him now I dont give a crap anymore. Cut this imbecile.

Interesting. Do you think the sobriety test was video taped, like they do on "Cops?" Or is the stenght of this case most likely dependent upon the quality of the write-up by the office?

Honestly, it seems like he doesn't learn.
He should get his 3 months or whatever for breaking probation.
Then he should get another month for the drunk driving.

My guess is he doesn't have any or much bonus money involved? If so, the Patriots should just cut him. If he does have bonus money, I'd rather they try to get it back, wait for him to get out of prison or for his eventual suspension to be over, then cut him (to maximize cap savings).

I wouldn't be shocked if they cut him. Belichick (and Kraft) may want to send a clear message to other players for the future and may figure that's worth the potential loss of games resulting in the cutting of a starting CB

Aside from that (losing a cheap starter is big) the waste of a draft pick matters little

The fact that Talib is the other starter makes me a little nervous - he's not one to get too many second chances.

The Pats may feel they have no choice but to act immediately - but personally I'd like to weather the bad or from this and wait to see how the prosecutor treats this and go from there.

I have to think that even if the pats do not cut him, Goodell may consider a suspension this time.

Yeah, I'm in the camp where I can see this go either way. There is a fine line that the team has to walk where they can't make the players feel like they don't have their support. In this particular case though I am tending towards them having done enough after supporting him through the first trail. I think it all depends on how this effects his probation. If he is going to miss significant time then I think they just cut him.

There's a difference to supporting a player who is being sued for a non criminal action or being sued frivolously (like Moss was); and a player that is breaking the law in a very serious way.

If this were me (just a upper middle class citizen) and my employer, they also wouldn't care about the former and would probably fire me for the latter.

The kid could have served time and was given a second chance. I think they will make an example out of him and I think it would be well deserved. Dennard obviously have $h!t for brains.

Very few people would dispute your educated assessment that Dennard has $h!t for brains. Anytime you get a DUI in the same area where you were convicted of assault on a police officer and were given probation, it's safe to assume you aren't the brightest bulb in the box. What we're disputing is whether or not the team should simply cut him for a DUI at this time, given the amount of carnage that has taken place on the offensive side of the ball this offseason, the general level of "meh" that the defense has played with since 2008, and what is behind Dennard at this point in time.

Kraft has few options here...

(1) Cut Dennard and send a message

(2) Get the cheerleaders together & sacrifice a virgin to appease the gods (Uh, oh that might not be achievable) or maybe Tebow instead!

(3) surrender to the culture shift and offer fan target shooting entertainment at halftime

I wonderr how many swapped their Hernandez jersies for Dennard last weekend?

imagine waking up this morning. turning on the computer and looking at NFL.com.

STRAIGHT BACK TO BED

I would be very disappointed in the Patriots if they cut him immediately.

And I am disappointed in the Patriots fans here who want him cut today. If you do and you can honestly say you'd feel the same had Hernandez not happened, then I at least respect your opinion though I don't agree. But if you thinking is "I'm tired of this" then IMO that's lazy thinking. Each incident should stand on its own.

I do, however, reserve the right to change my opinions if the Nebraska judge does something like order him to jail immediately, because that does directly and materially impact the Patriots. And the judge is in a better position than we are to judge the facts of the case.

I don't care how bad our CB's may be, I hope they get rid of him. These morons are disgracing the franchise. I'm not saying getting a DUI makes you a bad person, but one has to question a man's character when he's on probation and his franchise is already being fed to the wolves. Totally irresponsible and throughtless. Kraft will have alot of explaining to do if he lets this type stay on the team after talking about being 'duped'. And he would send a message by releasing someone for less than something that is most likely about to put him away for a long time anyway.

These guys fall to the 4th and 7th rounds for a reason, if it seems too good to be true it probably is. Move on before it truly bites you in the ***.

Likely no one. I don't think they were offering Dennards for exchange, and they only had a few Tebows (which quickly ran out).

Yup.
They got to cut him as soon as possible. After what Kraft said the other day.
You got to send a message to the players.
Otherwise we have officially become the Raiders,Cowboys, Bengals.

I do believe that there will be a huge purge after this season if there is no championship.Including Belichick. Kraft is not stupid and will determine its time for organizational changes.

I hope they get rid of him. These morons are disgracing the franchise.

Nothing except for maybe Hernandez will disgrace and tarnish the franchise more than when Bill "misinterpreted the rule" and even disregarded a memo that was sent out by the NFL stressing the rule.
