Colin Kaepernick not retreating over Dolphins cap flap - NFL - Sporting News

Apparently Colin feels its not a big issue,Some 49ers fans do.

Let me ask you guys...how would you feel if Brady wore another NFL teams hat?

We know Red sox fans were whining and complaining a few years ago when Brady had a Yankees cap on...how about an NFL team.

Personally I think a player, especially an high profile QB and paid to be the leader of his team should refrain from other teams apparel from the same league while he is employed, its disrespectful.

However if Wilfork for example wore a Flyers or Rangers/Islanders cap instead of a Bruins cap,I would not have a problem with it

I'd only be OK with it if was for charity (say, a bet who can sell the most raffle tickets, with the loser having to wear the winner's logo). As far as everyday clothes. Why? It's just creating controversy for no gain.

Not okay in my book. You can wear any other league's hat and that's fine and dandy but you better not be wearing other NFL team's gear.

I'd be annoyed, but I'd get over it. I had more of a problem with Kaepernick's really immature response.

I don't care. I think a lot of people wear sports gear as fashion now not because of their rooting interests. It's not like the guy is going to jeopardize his career by throwing a game if they play the Dolphins.

A non "rivalry" team in the other conference is OK.

Some team colors blend in better with different fashions.

Miami seems more conducive for summer attire than the 49er colors.

Under absolutely no circumstances whatsoever would this be acceptable, and I think Brady would be the first to agree. IIRC, he got some good-natured criticism when he once wore a Yankees hat, which I have no problem with, but I could never in a million years see him wearing some other NFL team's hat.

Kapernick is totally in the wrong here and I don't blame the 49ers fans for being perturbed.

EDIT: I thought of a situation where it would be acceptable and that would be if some sort of tragedy struck an area. Like I thought it was classy the way Yankees showed their support for Boston this past April with Red Sox logos and stuff like that.

If Brady wore a 49ers hat all hell would break loose, though now that he's signed long-term it may be less controversial.

The 49ers was his team growing up.

Wearing a 49ers hat next year at the Super Bowl press conference would be a problem.

Out to dinner with his parents would not be a problem.

Nothing to see here. Some of these guys are friends and root for each other. Some of them respect other teams and like the way they play football. I don't see what the big deal is.

I can't wait for the season to start so we can stop talking about this kind of stuff.

I'd think it was dumb of the player, but I'd get over it in about 3 seconds.

Another NFL team is one thing but Brady taking crap for wearing a Yankee hat was so damn stupid. As if everyone suddenly becomes a Red Sox fan just because they move to NE for their job.

I wouldn't be thrilled, but it's not a huge deal. I imagine it was just a fashion/colors thing for Kaepernick. However, could he not find a team in a different sport for whatever color he was looking for?

Brady in the Yankees hat is a perfect example. He was walking around NYC IIRC, and was probably just going for incognito. Different sport, in that teams city; perfectly acceptable. Now if Brady started sporting a Jets hat we'd all have reason to be pissed.

Inappropriate.

Should only be done in special cases where it's appropriate to be inappropriate, e.g. the charity bet or tragedy cases suggested above.

Halloween might be another.

I'd feel insulted just from the player being moronic enough to do such a thing. I've never, ever, seen or heard of this happening before. As a starting quarterback Kaepernick should be more conscious about being under the PR microscope. He doesn't seem too bright.

I wouldn't have a huge problem with it. Although if it were a Dolphins hat I would question the players taste.

When you represent a Boston sporting team, you don't wear anything New York. It still makes me cringe.

Kaepernick strikes me as a simple type given his childish response.

I don't like it. I didn't like it when Brady wore a Yankees cap. It's a respect thing. If a lot of your fans hate a team -- the people who are paying $500 to watch you play and another $100 to wear a shirt with your number -- don't openly support that team.

Just because you have a right to do something, doesn't mean it's a good idea to do it.
