Aaron Hernandez charged with murder

Every thread on patsfans.com these days turns into an argument. Its not even funny any more. It use to be fun playing, see how long it takes for someone to start arguing but not any more

Someone died, this thread should be filled with

"that's so sad"
and "that's to bad"
"Prayers for the family"

that kind of stuff.

Instead we have a bunch of folks calling each other internet tough guys and what not

SMH

Like someone said before pages ago most of us, I personally say over 95% don't know or care about Lloyd outside the investigation of Hernandez, most of us wouldn't be here if a Pats fan wasn't named in it.

Its sad a young man at 27 died, and so close to home for some of us (Dorchester/Attleboro) but be realistic, even ESPN/NESN/NFLN all said they have to focus on the sports aspect, and being a Pats board it makes sense, otherwise go to the CNN channel and board for non Pats/NFL fan perspective. You know what the deal is, whether this board tries to be 'elite' or not it is a www site subject to all things a www site is subject to.

Signed a message board poster for almost 20 years.

So the NFL officially has said AH can't sign with another team until a hearing with Roger Goodell.

I doubt anyone will be climbing over one another to sign him.

Actually, according to PFT, what Goodell said is that if he tries to sign a contract while charges against him are still pending, Goodell will hold a hearing into whether or not he should approve the contract.

Of course, with the weapons charges, that seems like largely a moot point.

Then how about reading a thread with, I don't know? Football talk? Just a thought.

There are plenty here. Why don't YOU read them since you're so fed up with this one?

It's worse than even I initially thought.......AH is the purest form of evil I've seen in some time

Which is sad IC because just a couple of months ago the marathon bombers defined pure evil IMO. We can go a few months without it.

Oh, did they?

See, I'm wondering what, if anything, they'll do about him. If no one else signs him, will they suspend him? Ban him? Does it even matter?

This is......forget it, don't have any words. But I will say this....yesterday as this was all crashing down, a quick thought occurred to me...."I wonder if he's ever done anything else like this?" It is not the type of situation you tend to only find yourself in once, when you live the life and keep the company he keeps.

The same thought occurred to me. Of course, we do have the claim of the shooting in Florida, but the evidence there seemed pretty shaky...

According to that same PFT post, since he's effectively unemployable anyways, they're just going to sit on their hands at least until the charges are resolved. At that point, they may take action.

That makes perfect sense. I would kind of love to see the look on Goodell's face as all this stuff comes out. This guy has been trying to "clean up the league" by tossing around his authority left and right. He may have just discovered he's facing a many-headed hydra.

I heard NFL removed his stats from NFL.com, which is probably the most shocking incident today seeing as Ray Lewis is an icon who was given at the very least a week or so before action.

Though it is a new NFL, and again I heard, I have no care to actually go to their site over this.

LOL on the Hernandez bang shack ... always evidence at the bang shack.

Puma announced this (Thursday) afternoon that it has terminated its 2-year endorsement deal with AH.

The status codes for players listed on NFL.com stats are:

ACT = Active
RES = Injured reserve
NON = Non football related injured reserve
SUS = Suspended
PUP = Physically unable to perform
UDF = Unsigned draft pick
EXE = Exempt

Hernandez no longer fits any of those categories.

That's not what happened.

They haven't removed Hernandez from their player database.

It's just that if you go there, all his in-game statistics have disappeared. It only shows the number of games played, and started, but no reception/yardage totals, etc. (He still shows up on the season total pages, so it's just completely bizarre what's going on.)

They still have stats for players who left years ago (e.g., Willie Andrews, to name but one), but Hernandez seems to have been singled out for some reason.

Let's hope he doesn't use it as an excuse to further extend his powers.

Fair enough. I was only looking at the stats for current players, which Hernandez (I refuse to call him AH anymore) is not.

By the way, did anyone see Ben Volin's re-tweet from someone pointing out who the last person to tackle Hernandez in the NFL was? Any guesses?

Yup.

Bernard Pollard.

That was really pretty lame. He didn't disclose that it was 4 years old and tried to imply to the judge it was the murder weapon.

I also thought he was overselling the ammunition found in a search warrant yesterday.

Judge asked about motive, but the prosecutor doesn't really have an answer other than to repeat there was a relationship. Doesn't answer the judge's question, but instead goes back to evidence of guilt.

That's because they are trying to link the new evidence and possession of the SUV that they've been looking for into the bigger picture of the double homicide last summer, which would provide a lot more motive towards killing Llyod than "he was talking to people that Hernandez did not like."

If you noticed, the prosecutor mentioned having a previous discussion with the judge off the record, and stated that he "didn't want to reveal certain aspects of it."

They are certainly attempting to mesh his involvement with the previous double homicide. Whether they are able to do that or not remains to be seen.

If anything, I'm actually shockingly surprised that the dream team defense has done such a shoddy job.

To take this one step further before anyone asks:

--None of the 3 super lawyers were able to get a better matchup with a different judge, which often happens when you have contacts in the system. Their matchup certainly does not favor Hernandez

--The fact that the bond appeal hearing was asked for 24 hrs later seems a little strange to me, particularly with no improvement in the case or evidence shown to his defense

--The atty today rambled on forever about Hernandez's football career...like that has much bearing on anything, let alone proving that their client charged with murder deserves bond?

--The fact that they asked for "250,000" cash bond along with GPS monitoring...are you serious? The other defendant is in on a 1.5 million dollar bond with likely an accessory to murder charge, and you don't find it strangely insulting that the defense's offer was seriously a 250k cash bond? They honestly felt that 1/6th of the other defendant's bond would be sufficient when AH is obviously thought of as the main orchestrator and head honcho/shot caller or even shooter?

--The choice to break the vow of silence just 24 hrs before the client was arrested by personally trying to paint the media as making up stories like they were somehow coming out of nowhere. The truth of the matter is that they were damn well aware of every step along the way and had to have realized that Hernandez would be in severe danger of being arrested on a murder charge. What exactly was the point of that?

--The choice not to have anyone there from any of the firms to stay with Hernandez around the clock in show of support was weird, especially when you're spending that kind of money and the police show up at your door every 4 hours for a week straight. You'd think that they'd have at least placed someone there in fear of either an arrest, or additional questioning. It seems as though someone underestimated a lot of things, especially "how" and when they'd arrest him.

Be aware that the Superior Crt Judge, was a former DA out of the Fall River Office. With now being a judge, she is supposed to be "impartial" to all cases. Nevertheless, she's "walked in the shoes" of prosecutor and therefore must emphasize with the state. It's only human to do so. Furthermore, as she noted, this is a Muder One case.

Looking purely from the standpoint of the NFL/commish wondering what he should do:

Goodell's decision just got a heckuva lot easier in the past 36 hours; in fact he probably doesn't even have to make a decision. I'd say it is quite likely Hernandez never breathes free air again, so the NFL's indefinite "we'll address this matter when someone signs him" statement will be all they need.

Which emphasizes my first point even more.
