Aaron Hernandez arrested, taken away in handcuffs

Somehow I find "charge" -- singular -- interesting. Not sure if that means "obstruction" and they'll work on something bigger, or they've got the bigger.

They've actually used the plural in a couple of tweets since. Curiouser and curiouser.....

The 'good' news is that it is 'only' obstruction to justice.

I can forgive Hernandez for being an idiot and trying to bail out his friends.

Seem to be jumping to a huge conclusion there.

Like I said, it was only a matter of time before he was arrested. Some idiots in the other thread were acting like the police were running in circles with absolutely no lead or reason to do so.

With Hernandez's legal representation I expect him to be okay.

Lewis had blood on his suit from a murder and got away relatively clean.

I can forgive Hernandez for being an idiot and trying to bail out his friends.

Where does it say that? From everything I've heard, his charge won't be disclosed until it's presented to the court.

Everyone in my office just had the same reaction to this. "What an idiot". That's their opinion not mine. I'm not sure what to think yet. I'm still kind of stunned by all this.

I should be upset, but this photo continues to crack me up:

Should be a "Caption This."

After getting hit on the prior play going over the middle of the field, on the next play AH makes sure it doesn't happen again #AlligatorArms

Maybe now he's...

making it arraign.

:drum:

The fanbot obsession with the media reporting is a borderline shooting the messenger mentality. The real issue is sadly that AH is a punk who either killed someone or was somehow involved and / or helped cover up the MURDER of another human being.

All we can ask for is a fair trial and justice for the victim, and hope he wasn't the trigger man...

Oh, OK, but it's not "official' yet. The obstruction charge, I mean.

My brother in law (Mass Trooper) just text me saying to expect the worst.

Put whatever stock into that as you want.

That is absolutely not good news. The fact that they are bringing just one charge is very ominous to me. If it were a lesser charge, I would think they would come up with a few just to make one of them stick.

Hopefully I'm wrong...

A friend of mine with the State Police says that AH is not only being charged with Obstruction, but also being charged with 1st degree murder....in addition to at least 2 other charges. I hope it isn't true....

edit: not 1st degree, 2nd degree(does anyone know what the difference is?)

Well, that's that. You had to figure, one way or another, something was going to have to happen because there has been too much media attention on this case for the cops to let it fizzle out.

I don't think we'll see murder charges, though. I think the arrest would have gone down differently.

Not closing the book on Ahern until we find out what the charges are and he's found guilty.

1 degree :p

I hope Hernandez recent extension is backloaded...you can take thug out of the ghetto but you cannot take the ghetto outo of the thug. I don't feel sorry for Hernandez...I feel sorry of the dead person and his family.

The last 10 days have just been full of suck across 3 Boston sports.

Obviously, you haven't seen Andrew Bailey "close" for the Sox.

In all seriousness…I feel sick for Aaron. Something about that kid just makes him likable…but the PittPatriot is a softee.

Premeditation

It's been ages since my law school days and I only ever practiced corporate law but 1st degree means it was premeditated. That would be the most serious and difficult to prove.

I googled a precise definition for second degree murder:

Second-degree murder is ordinarily defined as: 1) an intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned, nor committed in a reasonable "heat of passion"; or 2) a killing caused by dangerous conduct and the offender's obvious lack of concern for human life. Second-degree murder may best be viewed as the middle ground between first-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.
