Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

Here, go to the mirror and say "Media and fans will demand that Tebow take snaps away from Brady" and see how many syllables you can get through before you realize how ridiculous you sound.

You've never met a Tebow fan, have you? There are tons of his followers out there whose sole interest is to see Tebow start at the NFL level - whenever, wherever, and over whomever. They don't give two ****s about the Pats or Brady. And they'll be here soon voicing precisely this. Oh, they'll be here.

I'm not worried about the media circus that comes with Tebow.

First, he is now a bust. He came to the Jets taking the Broncos to the playoffs and winning a playoff game. Now he is the guy who wasn't even good enough to bench Sanchez.

Second, the Jets created much of the Tebow hooplah. They had the trade that was rescinded and then they had to trade again. They held a press conference to introduce Tebow to the NY media. They invited ESPN to have live coverage at their training camp. They hyped Tebow in the Wildcat including having very public secret practices where they unveiled Tebow's packages to the media although the media were not allow to report about it.

Third, the Jets created a media circus long before Tebow got there. Rex could never shut up and allowed his players to trash talk. Woody Johnson loved the media attention and would have had Hard Knocks always being at Jets' camp.

Fourth and most important, Belichick doesn't give the media anything. If Pats can insulate themselves against the media all of 2007 with Spygate, Tebowmania is only going to be a slight blip on the radar.

Much of the Tebow media circus was Jets created. Belichick runs the Pats as the anti-Jets. I seriously doubt the Tebow stuff will be much of anything.

Your histrionics are duly noted but the biggest story of the last month has been 1 player skipping voluntary workouts. The media will make a big story about anything they can on the off season, that hardly constitutes a media circus.

If you honestly think that in the midst of the season this team will be fielding questions about Tebow the way the Jets did I'm going to feel compelled to contact your relatives because you may be experiencing the onset of senility.

because you may be experiencing the onset of senility....what do you mean..."may"???

I realize that I'm cynical...and yes, that is because of age...I used to be idealistic but I found as I lived on in this life that if the worst can happen , it will more often than not. If this was a rookie,or ANY player other than Tim Tebow, I would be be in full froth homer mode. This person does nothing but exude "major distraction" to me. I hope I'm wrong, Fnord...I really hope you're right....but I'm gonna have to see this to beieve it.

He's a cancer, a waste of a roster spot, will bring a media circus and is a pointless cap hit.

Big T ain't no hater eh??? ;)

Tebow is not a cancer, not a problem in the locker room, not being paid big money and is a very good athlete.

I TOLD YOU GUYS THIS BEFORE!

I mentioned it in one thread before. That I predict the Pats would get Tebow for whatever reason. I will get a quote for proof.

I am a Patriots fan...my whole life...I'm not emotionally invested in anything to do with the Chosen Turd or his "fans"...I just want NOTHING to do with him, his "fans" or any idiot trying to engage me in any discussion of this world class distraction . IMO, the Patriots did not need to make this move now, tomorrow or ever. I hope it's just a favor being done by Bill to rehabilitatre the Chosen Crud's image so that he can latch on somewhere else. That is my only hope...you want to carry on about Tebow on this Patriots board, do yourself a favor and put mE on your ignore list...I do NOT now nor did I EVER want to see this particular circus sideshow act anywhere near the Patriots organization. Chad Johnson is one thing,THIS is so far beyond THAT it may as well be the other side of the galaxy.

That's why we have Moderators, they know who's signing up and can dump the annoying ones. Like, for example, my Mother and younger Brother, watch out for them. We're not going to change BB's mind, so we watch for the idiots and deal with them.

Re: Relax. Breathe in...breathe out... It is only June

already there's some here-to-fore fringe member here with like 8 posts the last three years going from thead to thread screaming "TEBOW!!!!!"..."he scored TD'S!!!!"..."Jets used him wrong!!!"....who friggin' CARES?????...this is just the start...by now, every one of those Tebowtards that joined JI are probably already signed on here....they infected every thread over there the entire season with their "Timmy!!!!" garbage and they will do the exact same thing here.

Maybve the mods should make a Tebow Only link to a forum off the main board.Keep them quarantined.
In WWII (before my time, but barely) I believe they were called "DPs" or "displaced persons."

I have no idea how it will turn out, but I like bringing Tebow in. Good things happen when he is in a game. It is up to him whether or not he plays QB - sounds like he is getting a chance. I have no doubt they will find an effective way to use him some way. Nonetheless, I wish him the best and I will be rooting for him.

I am a massive homer or as I like to say "a true optimist" , but this signing has me truly questioning the wisdom behind this move. The only other times I have truly had issues were things like why is guyton on this team and the ocho trade.

The optimist in me is saying we were one catch away from a sb win with ocho on the team so maybe tebow won't be so bad(as a typed this sentence a tear fell).

I'm delighted by this move. I think McDaniels had an input in this and if he believes he can develop Tebow into an NFL QB then there is nothing wrong with this. I'd just love for him to be given the opportunity to learn from Brady and work on his mechanics. If he doesn't make it so be it but this guy has the leadership ability and work ethic to be hugely successful if he can get his mechanics and footwork sorted.

I think its only going to be a good thing to have him around the locker room. I see some people saying that the media circus will be too much but I don't agree because there is nobody going to question if Tom Brady should be starting.

I suspect Kraft was behind the Tebow signing. Tebow may not be a great player, but he's good for business. He'll attract some new fans to the Pats and maybe expand interest in the Pats to some religious communities outside of New England. He'll increase the value of the franchise, and we don't even have to win a Superbowl. That said, I don't think it's a bad signing if Tebow plays TE. He could be pretty good in that position. And, he's also an okay emergency or third string QB.

We now have irrefutable proof that BB does not read this forum.

I saw Silver Linings Playbook too... but that's the only playbook this kid can learn.

I reckon I'm hoping to be proven wrong... ::shrug::

All I can figure is, this is a probability/cost curve some MIT guy figured out in the bowels of Gillette, and Bill couldn't resist the pure perversity of it.

With all those QBs on one roster of one inept team, then allll those teams not being interested in Tebow in the least, I could see Bill thinking, minimal interest, ergo, minimal cost, weird upside but proven downside, meh, what if Josh can make QBs out of raw material?

Unlike other guys on the roster he can probably convince a Tebow to go through a learning/holding-the-clipboard curve.

Nightmare scenario: You and I don't know it, but Tom's thinking about running in '14 for something.

:confused::confused::confused:

No, McDaniels was behind the Tebow signing and BB signed off on it with Kraft's final OK. No freaking way Kraft hatched the idea, he doesn't operate that way.

Tebow might believe that Jesus lived at the time of the dinosaurs. And people say he brings the (media) circus to town, but that's not the way it is or will be with the Pats. I care not.

Tebow plays hard, hates to lose, has good football character, has monster quads, and finds ways to win.

It's definitely worth a spot to see what he can do and whether there can possibly be a place for him.

Over/under days 'till he gets cut?!?? 4 too much?!?

Re: Relax. Breathe in...breathe out... It is only June

You're saying we SHOULDN'T overreact? But, that's what I'm good at! Haha, you're right though. Who even knows if he will make the 53 roster.

We can all do ourselves and this forum a favor by not responding to this thread or discussing Tebow any further.
