Re: Here's all WE NEED to know about the Tebow signing...

Totally unecessary move. Hope he doesnt survive past training camp.

He's the worst football player I've ever had the displeasure of watching

Dear over dramatic people,

It is June. Roster size is 90. If he can't be scout team QB for teams that run the pistol he'll be cut.

"Worst day in history of franchise?" -what? How young are you?:)

I've watched Tebow since he was in High School playing for Nease. The problem with this line of thinking is that you're asking Tebow to do something he's never done before at the hardest level to do it at possible. It's possible that he can be successful, yes. But he has zero experience.

Can't argue against what you said. And like I told my brother in a text a few minutes ago...BB and Josh will put him in a role they envision for him hybrid TE/FB etc... and if he sucks at it he will be gone. Low risk high reward signing, typical NE ho hum....

I am obviously looking at it with a glass half full perspective at this point, because I think Tebow is a talented athlete and a good football player. However, I don't see him being anything more than a role player and a guy defenses will have to account for when on the field, if he shows he can run the ball out of the backfield and/or catch the ball coming off the line.

I simply don't see the downside to this signing in early June. In the end I wouldn't be surprised if he is cut after the mini-camp or if he is on the opening day 45 man roster.

Over 100 posts in this thread and you're the only one ranting on about Jesus.
Twice!
Obsessed much?

Just for the record I am a Christian

I've seen it first hand - What you think is going to happen and what IS going to happen are 2 very different things.

The Tebow Circus is upon you and it doesn't die down - it builds and builds and builds

Just wait till the Tebow fans start showing up

Tim Tebow runs a route out of the backfield.

Wonder what the terms are. I get that BB likes to troll the media, but this seems like an expensive way to go about it.

Re: Here's all WE NEED to know about the Tebow signing...

So we should sign Donald Trump? I like the kid and I like the idea of using him in certain packages, but I hope this does not mean that the coaching staff will be wasting time trying to turn him into a conventional QB.

Actually, Donald Trump was considering buying The Patriots in the late 80's. Google it, there's some newspaper articles chronicling it, like The Boston Herald's.
Anyway, I used to be a messenger for him and hung out in his private reception area on the 27th floor of Trump Tower. When I heard he had Patriots on his mind after he got out of his USFL Jersey Generals thing, I said,"Mister Trump, please buy The Patriots. They're in dire need of the Trump touch."
He grinned a little and shook his head as he walked by.
No deal.

Re: Here's all WE NEED to know about the Tebow signing...

I wish him well, but let's be realistic: he was an embarrassment with Denver when they came into Foxboro for the playoffs, and he couldn't take snaps away from Sanchez in NY.

Tim Tebow throws a pass.

He's not here to play QB, so what is the downside? The Pats gain a good football player that can play multiple positions out of the backfield, is a solid guy in the locker room etc...

To the thought that he never accepted any other position. IMO, there is no way he is here if he wasn't willing. Maybe he understands that no one was going to bring him in to play QB, maybe he didn't like watching from the sidelines all last season and realizes that versatility is his key to staying in the NFL. Whatever it is....But there is no way I can buy a scenario in which he tells BB "I am only coming if I can be a QB, I am not playing any other position".....and BB saying "cool welcome aboard".

I didn't think there was any room for cold level headed logic in this thread...

I love it. Tebow is a great person and football player. He is dynamic. He is a firebrand. He's Ray Lewis without the murders. He will succeed, and so will the Pats. Anyone that hates Tebow is just a bitter angry person who hates everything......lots of those types in this town.

Re: Here's all WE NEED to know about the Tebow signing...

He's not going to be our QB now or in the future. What he will be is one of the most athletic guys on the field, be it TE or FB or even RB. Stop putting his last positions labels on him until we see what BB has cooked up for him. If he can help, he will stay, if not he will go.

Re: Here's all WE NEED to know about the Tebow signing...

Narrow-mindedness is a disease. Many people suffer from it worldwide.

Tebow is here as a QB and as a football player. He struggles as a QB; he is a great football player.

Time will tell.

Re: Here's all WE NEED to know about the Tebow signing...

I did, here's how those games went:

Tebow did nothing but hold the team back for 58 minutes
Denver Defense bails him out
Matt Prater has some kind of freaky robot leg

You really need to get back on your meds, or off of them, whichever is the case.

I'll trust in the football sense and acumen of Coach Belichick before any football fanboy.

A head scratcher. I suppose I can see him being effective in the red zone as HB with a run-throw option.

Has Don Davis been let go?

I won't after today.

Tebow isn't worth the paper his contract was written on.
