Which Pats player will be the 'shocker' cut/release/trade this offseason?

My shocker is Josh Boyce. I think he's in a bit of trouble, due to the foot injury, he won't be able to be involved in any of the OTA's, he will be behind all of the other receivers. The Pats will only keep 5 or 6

Amendola
Edelman
Dobson
Slater
Jones
Hawkins

Boyce may be in trouble. I think they may Demps him, and put him on the IR, but ya never know. He could get cut (I hope not). I know Edelman will miss the OTAs, but he's been in the Pats system for several years, he already knows the system, another thing Boyce needs to get down.

I could see him starting the year on PUP. Maybe returning at mid season if we need WR depth or remain on it for a full redshirt.

Only way that happens now is if there's a surprise cut by another team.

Is the guy who really struggled for the 49ers still on the market? I know he was awful last year but in the past be was a great kicker, could be worth a look.

Not sure how much of a surprise some of these guys are, but they are all likely on the bubble:

-Adrian
-Washington
-Mesko
-Bequette
-Ras-I
-Gregory
-Cunningham

All could either be solid role players or cut. Impossible to tell at this point.

If Ras-I gets injured in camp again, they could do to him like they did to Shawn 'unable' Crable....get tired of his annual injury and release him.

I don't see Bequette on the bubble and only see Dowling being cut if he is injured again.

Bequette is an interesting case. One one hand he was a 3rd rounder last year, and cutting a 3rd rounder after 1 year is unprecedented under BB and nearly unprecedented throughout the league.

On the other hand, Jones, Collins, and Ninkovich are clearly ahead of him on the depth chart. Francis and Cunningham were ahead of him in his first year, and Francis was a rookie too so you can't expect Bequette (who hasn't shown any more "potential" to date) to pass him. Plus there's Buchanan.

Hope he improved because there's plenty to like about him, but as of now I'm guessing he's a victim of the numbers game.

You post is very eye opening for me seeing all the players you listed makes me agree with you completely. My hope is that he can leap over Francis because I just don't have the same belief in Francis possessing a high ceiling as many others do.

I have the highest hopes for Buchanan when it comes to players not named Jones or Collins.

Brook Williams, Kevin O'Connell and Tyrone McKenzie were all 3rd rounders cut after 1 year by BB.

Unless Bequette is remarkably transformed from someone who looked as lost as a player can possibly look into someone who has an idea how football is played, I don't see how he possibly makes this roster. I don't care where he was drafted. In the five years I've been here, in my opinion no player has been given more of a free pass on this board than this guy.

I assume that Bequette is a likely cut. Didn't even list him because I didn't think it would come as a surprise to anyone. Third round pick or not, if he doesn't show that he's ready to contribute, he should be cut.

Wasn't she already cut during a youth movement?

She got signed again for PR reasons but don't worry she'll be quietly cut soon under the radar.

True, but both Brock Williams and Tyrone McKenzie were injured throughout their first year and then again in the offseason and into their second year with some serious injuries. Even then they were both signed to the practice squad the very next day.

Kevin O'Connell is the only "real" player who has been cut when healthy, and that may have been due to the fact that he was playing the position of QB. It may have simply been that Belichick and the staff felt that KOC just simply wasn't coming close to picking up the system.

Obviously, anyone can get cut, but I think the only way Bequette gets the axe is if he in either injured or just has shown absolutely nothing. Even then they'd likely bring him back to the practice squad the same way they did to Brock Williams and Tyrone McKenzie.

So besides serious injury, KOC is the only player who's gotten the axe due to just not being able to pick things up.

One thing I definitely agree with you on is that Belichick is probably not too afraid to get rid of a player if he just doesn't have what it takes, despite his draft round selection, so he's likely on the bubble.

I understand your point, but I highly doubt that our 4th round pick WR rookie gets cut during his very first training camp in the NFL. If the injury is that severe he'll be placed on IR, and by all accounts the injury is not severe.

Steve Belichick's mom was indeed cut in a youth movement and never rehired. But it is said she remains on good terms with the team even so.

Perhaps you ladies would be more comfortable at the TMZ website? I mean really ...we are bad talking the coach who has taken this team to 5 superbowls like gossipy little girls.I mean do you really give a damn who he's is porking? Maybe instead of continuing to post nonsense you should just pick up the latest issue of Tiger Beat and chill.

FWIW, every player in the Belichick era drafted in the first four rounds has remained on payroll Week 1. The only player who didn't last a full season was Kareem Brown in 2007, and that was of course sui generis.

at this point i would be more surprised if Ras-I MADE the team, as opposed to if he was cut.
