Bill really handcuffed this team in trading away picks for haynesworth and ocho. we still could have traded with Minn and acquired their 4 picks and had we kept our 3rd and 5th rounders, we could have gotten barrett jones or patton or lattimore.
Bill also handcuffed the roster by drafting safety Duron Harmon with the 91st overall selection.

Started to think who might still be available and then realised we've still got two and a half rounds to go.

Especially when you consider that their QB is still young and cheap so it doesn't handcuff them like other teams. As long as C.K. doesn't regress like Cam Newton I think they have to be considered the team to beat, especially in the NFC.

They will pay the piper when that contract expires. But their immediate future looks bright.

That strategy never works.

I wish we had never gotten welker moss or branch.

Funny thing about the trade at #29 -- I think Cordarrelle Patterson could the Chad Jackson of this draft. Eye-popping athlete, just not so good at running routes, catching balls, or reciting the alphabet.

Yep, and even though i wanted Hopkins or Hunter early i really think they came away better off with Dobson and Boyce than they would have with just one of the others. I spent far less time on this draft than i have in the past so I had much less information but when i watched the clips of he looked fast but you really have to wonder if that body will hold up in the NFL, whereas both Dobson and Boyce are much thicker without sacrificing the speed. And the clips i saw of Dobson looked really really good, he had great hands. i think both contribute significantly this season and I actually like their young WR corps now and i look forward to watching them grow with Brady the next few years. i may be in the minority but I like this draft and feel like they are pretty close to set heading into OTA's.

I love how the Ravens draft year in and out, but I also think it is hilarious that posters here claim they are so obvious and then they take a TE out of Harvard who is nowhere to be found in the draft mags. Newsome is great but people forget he uses Belichick's scouting system and approach with his own tweaks to it, and all they have to do to find that out is watch the NFLN Football Life on the last year of the Brown's in Cleveland

I agree completely. Ravens stray from the chalk a few times every draft, and like the Pats in general, these supposed 'reaches' usually end up warranting the pick. And when they do draft the chalk it is usually after it has fallen to a "valuable" spot in the draft. Otherwise the Ravens trade back, as the Patriot/Belichick template suggests is best.

As for Juszczyk, he is going to be a pass-catching FB, imo, more than a blocking TE (though will line up in both spots). A Hynoski, H-back, type of guy. And unfortunately for Vonta Leach, I think it means the Ravens will unload Leach and his pricey cap hit before the season starts. I could be wrong though.

Brandon Williams was another semi-unknown "reach" we took, and I love that pick. Cody has officially moved into "bust" territory, and we needed beef up the middle. Small school doesn't bother me at all with Williams. The guy is just massively strong (in upper body...might need some lower body strength work).

this weeks draft, coming in, 13 picks.

2014 - estimated picks : 10picks and counting

They are totally loaded !

They're so deep in talent and picks, they are now in luxury mode. They can grab a Lattimore and give him a year off to recoup...over and over again. They've done exactly what the NFL system is supposed to allow crap teams to do, although few do it, and draft wisely and patiently over and over again, and now, boom, expect them to be in the top 2-3 power rankings year in and year out for hte next few years at least.

Good on them. Can't wait to watch SF and Seattle (another team that has done the same thing, but to a lesser extent) slug it out this year, although I have a feeling that Seattle played a bit over their heads last year.

also you guys are kinda of funny in rating teams drafts right now...

i remember a pats draft where we got arguably the 2nd best RB in the draft, and the 2nd best WR in the draft....

their names were Laurence Maroney and Chad Jackson

It's a draft thread. Draft discussion seems fitting. If you're just looking for a place to give you the names, NFL.com has a draft tracker that's pretty up to the moment.

Seahawks and 49ers are straight up ballin.

Bill also handcuffed the roster by drafting safety Duron Harmon with the 91st overall selection.

What safety taken since we took Harmon would you of rather had? Bill & Co. do their work. Lets trust them on this one. Tavon Wilson was the 2nd best rookie Safety last year after Mark Barron (taken 7th overall).

Conference Call Transcript with Josh Boyce. Josh Boyce Conference Call Transcript

He finished his degree in 3 years. Sounds like a smart player. He might mke a bigger impact this season than Dobson in my opinion!

Just going back a bit, can anyone remember a more talented 4th round? It was loaded!

damn. i hoped jesse williams falls to round 7 -.-

**** the Seahawks ...

Seattle gets Williams. If he gets healthy that is one great value.

The smart play was to draft a safety earlier, and Wilson sucked last year.*

* See earlier asterisks

Cards getting Clowney next year!!!

Hey, and I see Dobson as a bigger, faster, stronger David Givens in his prime. Now there's a match made in heaven. :)

He's low 4.4's, he is much faster than Givens ever was.

He's actually the next Randy Moss.................................

really, he is...................

i'm not kidding........................

Could be the greatest WR ever.................

really.............

My comparison for Jesse Williams was Red Bryant, I think he will fit very well in Seattle at the NT or 5-Tech
