USA Today grades the Pats on the bottom tier of the Free Agency period

Uhh, is free agency over?

Gosh dang it! USA Today has got to be tops when it comes to grading football moves! We're doomed! (although I am giving us a low grade for the Welker debacle - think they'll give me a job? I am certainly bored at the one I have currently on this Friday afternoon!)

And Rosenthal labeled us winners. Either way I dont see what the fus is about. Grading Free agency winners during the offseasons just like grading drafts is absolute nonsense yet we are bound to see 20 threads on writers praising or criticizing moves that have yet to play out on the field.

tl/dr worthless articles are worthless and should be taken as less than a grain of salt.

NFL free agency report cards: Seahawks on the 'A' list

He gives the Ravens a B who lost nearly everyone on defense but the Pats get a D+??????

This FA year may not be perfect by any means, but some moves deserve at least a C+ rating overall IMO

The Jets got a C too and they literally only have about seven 2012 starters left on their roster. Granted that might be an upgrade. But they still have Sanchez and Tebow. So not so much.

I think Tomase applied just before you.....No chance now

I agree.....its sort of the same when some crystal ball fans in here say a team overpaid for a player without him ever playing a down for his new team...just dumb

My favorite part is Denver receiving an A- after the Dumerville fiasco.

Some of those grades had me laughing. Jets get a C for what now? Give them at least an A+ for letting their roster get demolished I guess.

If they somehow retain Dumervil and grab one of Freeney or Abraham then they deserve some accolades for clever moves, but not yet.

fwiw i do think your free agency so far has been overrated, we signed back some of our player which is good, but doesnt make us better and we replaced welker with amendola who at this point is an unknown

our receiving group is laughable right now

and the only person weve added on D is wilson and cardinal fans have even said hes nowhere near what he used to be and wasnt even playing on passing downs as their 2012-2013 season progressed.

i think the rumors of reed/abraham/freeney/sanders has somehow effected peoples view of our actual signings

For the writer it is ....

Responses like this writer's always make me happy. It's almost always an automatic curse on the teams that are praised to the skies. And yes I am superstitious. Can't wait to see how the Sea Hawks do.

How does this team deserve a C+, if you're not grading on a curve?

No grade is complete yet....as the FA period has a way to go yet and even then no one knows who will turn out like Albert Haynesworth or Andre Carter until mid season at the earliest.

I would just say that we as fans believe the receiving group is incomplete or poor.

That may not be the assessment of the Patriots coaching staff, which is really the only one that matters. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

As for Adrian Wilson, I may tend to side with the Patriots over fans.

ah, the ole "in bill we trust" argument

i have no problem with that in either argument

afterall this team started gaffney/caldwell/gabvriel for a year and we had nowhere near the talent at TE that we do now

Last year they had 8 WR or something before training camp and everyone thought this would be the deepest and best receiving core in years... We all know how that one ended.

I'm not a fan of what they did so far but it doesn't make any sense to judge the FA moves now with so many FA still out there.

Edelman,Vollmer and another DE and I'm quite happy with the FA. Wilson could be huge. It's been a while since there was a good vet in this backfield
