Free-agent CB Aqib Talib reached agreement with the Patriots on a one-year deal.

Just one year but we couldn't afford to lose him.

Talib is back!

One year deal.

Excellent. One year, perfect.

So Patriots have fortified secondary with Aqib Talib and Adrian Wilson while Miami has added Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson and Dustin Keller.

A one year deal guarantees we will get his best. Great news. We land Sanders after this and this has to be considered a bonanza.

Re: Adam Schefter: Aqib Talib 1 yr deal w/Pats

reiss made a pretty good argument that talib would sign for one year to showcase his skills then become a FA in 2014 since the CB market is pretty depressed this year. This is great. we keep em for another year, if he's playing lights out well give him an extension and that's that.

Hoped for a long term deal but this atleast gives the secondary one year at his absolute best.

Can't wait to see a bunch of people complain about it being a 1 year deal when it means that Talib will be motivated and not doing stupid stuff off the field. Maybe we lose him a year from now, but they would lost him if they insisted on a 1 year deal.

I was willing to take a chance on a multi-year deal, but one year is better than him walking. My guess is 6mill.

Our best secondary in 5 years is complete! Hallelujah.

Glad to see it's a 1 year deal. Gives him a chance to prove the bad stuff is behind him.

Now on to SeaBass.:rocker:

This was a bit of a toughie as he has the talent to be a top CB and when he was out there (to his credit or not) the defense played well and with confidence.

However the off-the-field stuff, his injury history with the team and a the CB market starting to level-off and still good players out there allowed the team to feel that they didn't need to over-commit- IE they had leverage.

If Talib had a better deal out there, he would have taken is so here we are...

I'm glad he is back.

Hope the team focus on the pass rush, DT, Edelman, Seabass and maybe a vet dime DB in case Ras-I can't get out of the doctor's office

And for Ras-I to have a make or break year. I'm till optimistic about him.

Nice. Better have him for a year than not having him at all.

Still would like to see another CB(draft?!) but maybe Ras-I-Glass has a healthy year.

Secondary? check!

I'd still like to see another corner added as well as Talib but as is said, Rome wasn't built in a day!

Talib & Wilson is a great start.

Aqib Talib's one-year deal with the Patriots is worth $5 million.

Wow. ANyone remember what the franchise tag would have been?

And this surprises me a bit (the first part). Sounds like a guy going for something bigger down the road; both sides seeing the market for what it is:

My understanding is the Patriots also offered Talib a longer-term deal, and he had interest from 3 other clubs. He chose the one-year deal.
