Thats a good spot for him.
He really was not necessary here any more.
Great job as a Patriot, and will probably do well in SD.

Re: Woodhead to Chargers?

Once Washington was signed I knew Woody's time was gone ....Just like Welker,I absolutely loved watching the little guy run through guys three times his size and his speed was tremendous as well

I'll miss you Woody :(

I'll wait to see the $$ until I judge whether or not we should have kept him.

I felt that Vereen was a more dynamic and gifted player. But, the real writing on the wall was the Washington signing.

I liked Woodhead, but he will not be missed.

I don't agree that the writing was on the wall with Washington being signed. Washington was signed to be a KR/PR. The signing of Washington pumps more pressure on Demps than anyone else.

I think that Vereen's improvement last year was more indicative of the Pats possible willingness to let Woodhead go.

Woodhead rocks !
Good luck Danny.
I have a Woodhead shirt I won in the Patriots $5 lottery ticket thing.
I will not be burning it.

Am I the only one who's not really looking for the upcoming season? :(
I hope so.

Bummer. I root for the team, not really any individual player so much, except for some exceptions. There are some guys where you say, "I'm really glad we have this guy." Woody was one of them. Sad to see him go -- though not necessarily because it's the wrong move just because I like him.

I'll miss those 6 or 7 plays each year where it's third down and you think a guy can't possibly get enough YAC to move the sticks, but Woodhead ducks and dives just enough to just pick up the first. It always seemed like Brady threw a TD pass to end all the drives when that happened.

Washington is also a terrific receiver, 3rd down back and can play in the slot.

He was one of my fav's, but, Washington and Vereen are better.

Good luck Woodc0ck! :D

And you know that how, exactly?

This was funny.

The exodus of Patriots that look like Patriots fans is complete.

Damn it! I really like the little guy.

Same here... He caught a good number of passes and picked up some good yards. Like others I thought the Washington signing, with the additional roles he can play, didn't bode well for his return but I was still hoping he'd be retained.

Hey at least he didn't go back to the Jets!

Re: Woodhead to Chargers?

Heard 2 years with chargers per Mike Reiss On NFLN.

I wish him nothing but success. But, d%#*!@t, I knew my dream of going into the season with two little white Dannys was going to come crashing down.

We now have a 3rd down back, and a backup 3rd down back. And yes, we also have a kick returner and punt returner (or at least a backup punt returner).

Washington's signing, along with Vereen's improvement make Woodhead, Edelman and Woodhead less critical and of relatively low value to us.

One of the few draft choices I'll never understand with Vereen. You have a gem find with a guy like Woodhead who outperformed him so far and then you trade the same kind of back in the 2nd round.

Good luck Woodhead. Always loved how you got under the skin Jets fans and played really hard

Well, if they don't re-sign Edelman, there goes the entire Chipmunk package. . . . :(

I've followed him since he has been on the Jets, mostly because he was on my fantasy football team....16 teams deep with 6 offensive keepers...so 3rd down backs and kr/pr are a decent way to get points, if you do not have an every down back.

Anyhow, I've kept tabs on the guy and know what he is good at.
