Patriots signed former Bills WR Donald Jones

He didn't catch 100 passes a season with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to him, so he obviously sucks.

Re: Pats sign WR Donald Jones

I like it. After hearing that taped conversation, if Buddy Nix doesn't want him, I want him. #senile

Re: Pats sign WR Donald Jones

Would've preferred David Nelson or Darrius Heyward-Bey but I'll live with this. He's easily an upgrade over Branch or Stallworth.

Re: Pats sign WR Donald Jones

I like Jones. I think he'll surprise a few people, assuming he's over his health issues. Not a flashy name by any means but I think he'll become a solid starter

Love the signing, he has decent speed 4.45-4.5 range, has excellent size at 6'1 and 215 lbs....just what the Pats need.

Yeah, I think he is a little duplicative of Edelman though. Despite his size and speed he's not really an outside receiver that is going to threaten deep outside the numbers. As Bedard has said, other than trading for Fitzgerald, the only we can fill that need is in the draft.

Re: Pats sign WR Donald Jones

Dont recall if he did it w/ the Bills but supposedly he also returned kickoffs in college.

Re: Pats sign WR Donald Jones

Pretty easy to connect the dots on this one. My guess is they'll approach Lloyd to either re-do his contract (if they even want him), or he's gone by COB today.

So they're going to saddle Brady with the Caldwell bunch again this year?

I like this. I honestly think most of the bills offensive players would fit on our team. Fitzy just held them back.

Re: Pats sign WR Donald Jones

Lloyd is a lot better than Jones dunno why this would mean he's gone.

Re: Pats sign WR Donald Jones

Seems more like a Branch replacement doesnt it? Not sure why everyone wants Lloyd gone, because he sucks at YAC? Because he wasn't the deep threat people wanted? He still put up great numbers for his salary.

What does this mean for Edelperson? They seem to have similar skillsets on offense

I keep thinking Edelman will stay. I'd think Branch would be the one on the outs first. Guy was basically a decoy most of last year.

Not to mention he'll also more time to study the playbook because he won't have to spend all night shoveling snow :D

Anything that pushes Matthew Slater down the receiver depth chart is a good move.

And is under 30.

Good move.

Edelman does not have that size and is more quick than fast.

Can't see a downside unless the money is stupid (which I doubt). Competition for Branch's old position.

I have pointed out that Lloyd started running some routes over the middle ... if he continues some of that he is a huge bargain to keep on the team IMO and it will help him when he does go long also.

Jones' #1 asset is his blocking ability. And he's a baller. Unfortunately, his ball skills aren't all that great and he can't stay healthy. He's a depth guy with, perhaps, an upside that is intriguing.

Branch gone
Stallworth gone
Edelperson at risk but if mr versatility signs cheap he's in the mix
Still like to see a deep threat taken 1st or 2nd round

The newly staffed and constructed offense will be fun to watch in camp

Time to fix that problematic defense now Bill

Was Greg Jennings signed by anyone?
