I don't want to sound like those bandwagon fans that think "we need to get out there and sign everyone immediately" but with our key guys still unsigned and now Welker going to play with Peyton *shudders*, am i the only one who is getting a little unsettled??

I'm excited

good luck to welker, but I'm excited to see this offense make a star out of someone else

I am excited to see the Pats try and get a legit outside WR, to open up the middle of the field for Gronk and Hern.

Spoke to someone close to Tom Brady. Beyond enraged at contract details that netted Broncos Wes Welker. "Disgrace" "disservice" were used.

Nervous now??...

I'm sure he feels betrayed. He restructured his contract so the team would be able to keep key players like Wes Welker that would have more likely been lost to free agency.

One would think that management would have had that discussion with TB before the restructure. They would have said that we are only prepared to spend this amount ? on Welker - if he takes it great, if not we move on. I highly doubt that there was any assurance (and that is me speculating) made to TB that with his restructure would be the guarantee that we keep WW.

Well, in consecutive seasons he lost two of his best friends on this team (Koppen last year, Welker this year).

If I were Brady, I'd be angry that the Patriots weren't willing to pay him what IMO he deserves.

OTOH, if BB gets Brady some GOOD new toys to play with, I think he'll get over it.

I would feel very betrayed if I took a cut on my salary with the intent of them doing something and then the in essence went back on their word about it.

I just hope they have something bigger in mind to fix what is now a huge whole on this team.

THEY HAD BETTER GET HIM SOME GOOD NEW TOYS. I was driving home when I heard this. I'm willing to wait and see where things go from here, but I am not happy about this at all.

2 years at $10 mill was a fair contract for Welker. That was the Patriots' price. Not 2 at @12, not 2 @ 11, but 2 @ 10. They obviously have a plan they want to follow; that's why they said no.

Personally, I think Cruz is on the radar. They also want to get younger and faster. BB is determined, I'm sure, to avoid the mistake he made at Cleveland with regard to holding on to vets a year too long, rather than letting them go a year too late.

He knows what he's doing, and he's playing the odds like a seasoned gambler.

The last word on this saga is far from being written, so my only comment would be, don't have a cow!

I'll try, but this is some BS right now. :bricks:

I just get thoughts of 06 when they let branch go and left him with no targets..

I just CANT imagine they will leave brady hanging after the home-friendly deal he just signed...if they did the Krafts really have lost it

I'm expecting this to happen, sadly.

I find it extremely interesting that they talked to Tom Brady about this and the best they can quote is 2 words.

I would love to see his whole sentence.

if they dont, its as if they dont care about giving brady what he needs in his final years to win a superbowl.

but, im willing to wait out the next few days to see what they give us...if we go out, sign Reed, Talib, freeney, Amendola

I may change my mind...I just have this feeling that the Krafts are going to continue to cheap out

I can't for the life of me understand this attitude.

For the little money that Welker got, nothing precludes you from signing a stud outside WR (who doesn't even exist on the open market).

Nothing. You can have Welker and a stud outside WR (who doesn't exist, of course).

I can see him being angered by this. He may have to go from throwing to tough as nails Welker to glass Amendola. Wouldn't you be mad??

I blame Gisele, Welker leaving for Peyton really sticks it to his so called BFF Brady..

In '06, Branch, who was already under contract, shot his way out of town. That one wasn't on the Patriots.

Here in '13, I'm assuming the Pats know a lot more than we do about this. Although 32 years old, there really is a lot of miles on that body. I'm not saying they necessarily did the right thing for this year, only that, "we'll see".

I saw one poster in another thread say that Tennessee is shopping Nate Washington. A nice receiver, but I'm not sure that's enough to mollify Brady. Besides, in this situation, Washington is not the kind of guy you trade for.

I don't think Jennings is all that great a fit on this team, but Victor Cruz is. That's why I think they'll make a move on him.

We'll come up with something on the receiver side, don't worry. What this team should, properly, be focusing on is defense, so let's wait and see on that.

Your skepticism is well placed. Nobody in the media has talked to Brady. Curran talked to and quoted a friend of Brady's, and has since tried to clarify.
