Re: $6 million a year for two years!

They laughed when I said he would never see more than $5M/year from the Pats...

I wouldn't laugh at that. I don't think that Bill values the slot position that much, and I agree with him there.

Re: $6 million a year for two years!

what the ****

Breer claims Patriots' "final and best recent offer" was 2 yrs, $10 mil.

so, remind me again....who are the wide receivers we have under contract?

Re: Per Schefter: Welker to Broncos

How could the Pats initial offer be any lower than this? Either he just hated NE or the pats just did not want him back and made no offer. Apparently this new deal is much less than the Pats offered last year when Welker was insulted. How can Welker think this is deal is market value?

I can't make any sense of this right now. 2/12 is just ridiculous, how in the hell weren't the Patriots willing to match that? Either they have something big on their sights or Belichick has outsmarted himself big time.

The Pats FO is pathetic for letting this happen.

Well if anything let's hope this is the year he begins to regress and drops even more crucial passes.

So waiting for more information and to see what the team does in response is unthinking homerism?

OK.

Given that there is only one Welker in the NFL and he's now gone when he didn't have to be, yes, that's exactly what it is.

Something about this stinks. Either the Money he is getting isn't whats being reported or Welker told the Pats to Kick rocks and refused thier offer after all of the back and forth. I refuse to believe that they didnt offer him at least the same deal or even more than the Broncos. The Patriots can be cheap but they aren't that damn cheap.
Yeah this just doesn't make sense.

i said it with talib, i will say it again. i hope bill doesn't outsmart himself. alot of posters were saying cut welkaaah, get bowe, wallace.. oh well
hopefully we end up with another gronk / hern in the draft on defense.
Bradys growing long in the tooth.

Why not offer him something like 3/20 last year then? Why even franchise tag him at all in 2012? I mean, this is ridiculous.

Let's look at this from a different angle. If Welker was so worth keeping, why did he only get $6M a year? It's not like the Pats were the only team to not value him to the level of his production. Every other team in the NFL did it too.

you fake ass fans saying this changes your fan hood can gtfo now.

I can... every transfer involving the Oakland Raiders... starting with the Palmer trade.

It's the Raiders. It isn't like you don't expect them to do something outrageous. But honestly if you would've said 20 mins ago that we wouldn't keep Welker at that price most would've laughed at you. Offering the franchise record holder for most pass catches a 2y 10m deal what is reported now is disrespectful. We want to keep him? Yeah really ...

2 years/$12M is > 2 years/$10M. It feels like Wes just stuck it to the Pats. We'll see what happens, but I'm not panicking.

This is a F***** joke. What's Kraft thinking about????

Hopefully Reche Caldwell is still available.

As long as the Patriots offer maxed out at 2/10 why would any other team offer him significantly more than that?

I mean, the way they've handled the Welker negotiations plus the Brady restructure must mean something big, right? Otherwise, I really don't get the point of this at all.
