You could blame the GM and owner for this crap, the feud between whoever that GM is and Schotty. But also blame Reche, if only he hadnt caught a 49 yard pass and there problably wouldnt be such havoc in San Diego.

Already done. The thread has vanished.

Does anybody else picture a bunch of people in SoCal on their knees crying like Nancy Kerrigan, "Why WHY WHY WHY.... do I have to be a Chargers fan?"

nah this is a great day in chargers history to the people who don't like marty and know he's a loser (in the playoffs at least)

the marty fans though, yeah, they're hurtin haha, poor bastards lol

i'm happy the playoff pariah is dead though

Watch now, LT will come out and say the Chargers organization has no class.

no one ever blames marty that's the problem, the guy is a walking talking curse, our GM wanted to fire him after the 05 season and finally now the owner wakes up and grows a set of balls and does it.

i bet LT's happy, now that the curse has been kicked out of town haha

Because they have no class that jerk off in the front office wanted to wait and let all the jobs fill to get his last jab in at Marty. Id like to ask LT how classy he thinks his Bolts are now. They F'd Brees and now Marty!!! Good luck LT, one twiqued hammy and your ass is OUT!!!

Stay Classy San Diego
chargers are just getting rid of the old and useless (marty and donnie)

as for brees he was injured and asking for 10 mill guaranteed, that's ******ed

The Chargers can bring in whoever they want. I heard those idiot fans discussiong Mariuchi and also heard about Carrol. If you think you'll get to the SB with them...oho, they are in for a big suprise :D

You must admit your FO has botched this. Make the decision the days after defeat not a month later. You've let all your best candidates move on, now you have to start anew.

Hilarious quote from the Chargers forum:

"is this the iceberg that sinks the TITANIC............?"

Dunno, he is in denial that a wrong decision could have been made. You are right, why fire him now when you have little chance of getting a decent-good head coach at this point.

It would really funny if the owner fired AJ Smith by the end of the month.

Well, if you had to choose between AJ Smith and Marty, would you really choose Marty?

I think I'd choose Smith.

Smiths kind of an ******* I heard, his feud with Marty was likely responsible for this. Why the hell would they fire him so late?

Getting desperate on the Chargers board ......... Bobby Ross!

Pretty wise move if you ask me. You announce that you are keeping Schottenheimer for another year, but he is a lame duck coach. You let other teams raid your staff for any heir aparent. You let all the best coaching prospects and assistants to also get gobbled up by other teams. Then you fire Schottenheimer allow you have your pickings of all the rejects and retread coaches you like. Brilliant!

Only a wise organization would try to submarine a young talent team like this. A stupid orgainzation would have fired Schottenheimer early and gone after one of his coordinators to keep continuity or one of the hotshot young coordinators from another team. Now they can get a Dennis Green or Norv Turner who will most likely make them go from the best team in the NFL recordwise this past season to a fairly average team. My hats are off to the Chargers organization.

Tomlinson thinks Marty is a classy coach...

"I think Marty has done a tremendous job, when you look at before he came, where we were,'' running back LaDainian Tomlinson said. "He's totally changed not only the perception of the franchise, but the mind-set of the players. He's done a tremendous job, in my opinion.''

Mutiny in SD! :D

I agree that Smith would be the choice, but they should have fired Schottenheimer nearly a month ago. Now they are going to have to go after retreads for their coaching staff. They could have promoted Cam Cameron or Wade Phillips.

First they can’t hire the Tuna or Bill Cowher their old teams still hold their contracts. They resigned; they weren’t fired so they would both have to wait for their original contracts to expire.

At least one person has a good idea on the Chargers board .....................

Norm Chow

Schefter on NFLN right now saying, "Luckily for SD there's a lot of quality candidates out there right now." Then he goes on to list Norv Turner, Mike Martz, Mike Sherman, and Jim Fassel. He says Norv would be the perfect fit due to his connections there. :D :D
