Bernard Pollard played in the Super Bowl with 6 cracked ribs

Yep, but nobody here wants him, because he hurt wittle Tommy. I'd take him on this team in a heartbeat. He's not Rodney, but he tries to be, and thats what we need.

You mean wittle Tommy, Gwonky, Welky and Widley

btw who's nobody? I'd take em, please don't speak for everyone on the board.

Sorry, no disrespect to Pollard and/or his toughness, but without actual medical confirmation, I'm doubting this one.

He was not. Looks like there will be a fine incoming.

Part of reason I asked was because there was some kerfluffle mid-season about Ed Reed saying he had a shoulder injury, but he was never on the injury report.

Harbaugh seemed upset/baffled that this resulted in a fine. Apparently, that episode didn't have much of an effect on his thinking. All he would have to is put "B. Pollard (ribs) - Probable" on the injury report. That doesn't take much effort and wouldn't take anything away from Pollard being able to play with the injury.

Come on people. 6 broken ribs? Really? It's hard enough playing with one broken rib. Bruised ribs maybe, but there is no way he played with 6 broken ribs.

either that or that deer antler spray is some good stuff :singing::singing:

And that's why you're a nice guy who finishes last.

I don't finish last. I just don't have to be a complete C**T and a thug to finish first.

And given the choice, then yes, I'd rather not win than win ugly.

Also, I do not believe for ONE second that this is true. I broke two ribs once. Played a gig - I'm a singer and guitar player - two days later. I was in absolute excruciating pain for the three-hour gig. The whole time. And there was no contact, just regulating breathing to be able to sing.

love his effort, but he's no better in coverage than anyone else we have around here

Yeah...makes sense. I mean it's not like this game is about winning, right?

I respect that you think that it's all about winning. At all cost.
I don't. So no to the Ray Lewis, Bernard Pollard and liquored up idiot kickers.

i loved him ever since he was a chief, and i hate the chiefs

he's nowhere close to the good cover safeties in the nfl, but he's a play maker, always has been, ever since blocking punts against my chargers

Pollard's not the first player to play a game with injuries. #meh

The Pats need a wrecking ball strong safety. Who is the best player that fits this in the draft?

Well if I'm jammin' electric with broken ribs, the pain fades away cuz that's just another level of existence. And there's definitely sweaty bodily contact as I grind out tha chunky riffs. heh heh heh.

And I'd rather win ugly than lose. And I gotcher mojo right here.

I wouldn't have a problem with Pollard on the Pats but why the need to throw our own guy under the bus?

Im not throwing Tommy under the bus. I'm merely making fun of some of the posters on here. The play where Tom got hurt, was an example of two guys playing hard. Injuries happen. I've never blamed Pollard for that injury.

Actually, I'm a little surprised at the response in this thread. Usually when Pollards name is brought up, I see nothing but negative remarks towards him. Maybe after another playoff meltdown, posters are warming up to him. Either way, it wasnt long ago, there was a big thread full of Pollard bashing. I was speaking to those posters :D

#1.Kenny Vaccaro (Texas) and #2.Matt Elam (Florida) are both excellent safety prospects in the upcoming draft, but my concern is that they'll be gone by the time we pick at #29. In a perfect world Elam would still be around, but we know how that usually works..

After that there is some talent dropoff in other 1st/2nd rd prospects, although I'm sure there's a gem in there somewhere as many have argued their favorite choice in many ways lately. I'd say that anyone from this point on can be had in the 2nd and maybe even 3rd round:

The #3 ranked safety would be Eric Reid (LSU), but he struggled in pass coverage a lot and there has been talk that he probably should have stayed in school another year. The players in the secondary who left last year were Morris Claiborne (#6 overall pick to DAL), and Tyrann Matheiu (kid they call the 'honey badger' who I'm sure you've heard of..he was kicked out of school) so those 2 players alone may have made Reid look better in 2011.

#4 may be a better fit and that's TJ McDonald from USC. He can play both SS and FS and is an enforcer as far as hitting/tackling.

Another name you'll hear a lot is Philip Thomas from Fresno St. He'd probably be my #5, and maybe even my #4 depending upon your feelings about McDonald from USC (he struggled against the spread attack vs Oregon terribly). Thomas led the nation with 8 INT's, but missed the year before in 2011 with multiple season ending injuries with a broken leg and a dislocated ankle. Thomas had an excellent Senior Bowl, so he is considered to be a riser and could be taken even as high as the 3rd safety, depending upon preference.

Pollard's one of the Baltimore douches who talk trash and do everything they can to whine and complain about all things Patriots. He was moaning to anyone who'd listen just a couple of weeks ago about how Brady intentionally tried to cleat Ed Reed when he slid. He kind of reminds me of a harder hitting and better Antonio Cromartie with his attitude and outright disgust for our football team.

I won't get into the 4 different players injury thing while he was on 3 different teams because it's likely just a coincidence, but it's weird nonetheless. The odds of that happening aren't good, but I do honestly believe that most of it is just his aggressive nature.

I wouldn't say he's dirty, although I'm sure the past 2 of Gronk/Ridley weren't as coincidental as his Brady hit and phantom Welker hit--which I am sure were sheer bad luck. I'd have to say that he just plays with that headhunting style, and in big games against a team they hate and consider "finesse" and light competition vs defensive teams, he's going to play with more intensity and reckless abandon.

I respect him as a football player, and I certainly wouldn't complain if he were brought over here (which I jokingly have been lobbying for since 2009), but he's still one of the guys of the NFL who is easier to hate than to like, that's for sure.

As far as playing with SIX broken ribs....I don't believe it for one second, not one second at all. He may have had a handful of broken/bruised ribs over the course of the season (which still makes him a bada55), but there's just no way that anyone could play that kind of physical game with SIX broken ribs all at the same time. He would not even have been able to breathe with 6 broken ribs all at once. That's just part of his lore of being tough, and he's deserving of it since they won fair and square. I don't believe him though.

I'd rather lose without him than win with players like him.

I didn't know LT posted on here. Sorry bud, but if getting the lombardi ment having dbags like Pollard, then I'll take it. It's not like Pollard is a rapist, murdered, or dog killer. Don't get me wrong, I do hate the guy. But I'll take him on this team anyday of the week. Dude keeps hurtin our boys.

I guess it's because of macho posters being impressed with Pollard's latest display of SUPER-machismo.

Altho, there are broken ribs, and there are broken ribs... i entered a hosp a few years ago for some xrays for a non-injury situation, and soon found out that I had 3 broken ribs. I had no idea about them at all, and when asked what the treatment would be, was just given my discharge with no instructions whatsoever (the assumption being they wd heal on their own) Go figure!!
