Ray Lewis allegedly cheated to come back from injury

It's not an either/or situation; each one is unique and separate.

The Ravens beat the Patriots; they were the better team that day, and therefore deserve credit and are rightfully the AFC champions.

Ray Lewis has admitted to have taken a substance that is on the list of the NFL's banned substances for at least two years, yet the NFL has done nothing. According to NFL rules he should be suspended for four games.

Theoretically, yes. But Ray Lewis didn't test positive for it. I'm guessing there is language in the CBA that says that the league can't suspend a player for just admitting to it, without actually being caught (tested) for it.

This stuff has been around for a long time. It's FDA approved. You can buy it at Whole Foods, or GNC.

It is NOT FDA-approved.

FDA approval assures that it has efficacy in blinded chemical trials, is safe, has a consistent dose of active substance, and is manufactured to specific standards.

Like other totally unregulated supplements you can buy, it can be sold at places like GNC without any testing whatsoever, as a natural remedy.

If you want to grind up your toenails, bottle them, have some crackpot claim that your toenail powder cures everything under the sun, sell them for an enormous amount, and make money off it, you can do that. You just need to find enough suckers!

What a country!

In this case, studies do in fact show that deer antler velvet contains a protein that causes some of the effects of human growth hormone, so there could be something to it. But if you buy a bottle, be aware that there is no assurance that you are actually even getting any active ingredient. 100% buyer beware, with no FDA backing or certifications whatsoever.

If this was a pats 53rd player on the roster, peter king and all will be screaming from the high horse. This hypocrisy is what pisses me off more than the infraction itself.

On top of that, the story would be spun "If the 53rd guy is doing this, imagine what the starters are doing."

I can see why NFL.com might not put it up by why is this not in huge print on the front of every other sports site? ESPN doesnt seem to have it?

Lets face it , Everyone in the media is scared of what Ray may do if they run this story..............

My problem with the whole thing is that we had a FALSE rumor come up right before SB42 and blew up all over the major sports news sites. Nobody will likely pay attention to this which appears to be a legit infraction.

And it was a Boston writer and "newspaper" that was responsible, Tomase has been relegated to irrelevance but unfortunately the Herald is still around. I agree that the NFL wants nothing to do with this right now but that is simply the way it is. Imo the Ravens will lose Sunday and the issue will disappear with Lewis' retirement.

Under the old CBA anyway, Rodney Harrison was busted for HGH use. There was no test for it, thus he never failed any test, but since his doctor got busted for distribution, he was nailed. If the new CBA is similar, punishment can indeed be meted out without testing data.

The commish wanted ray lewis as an advisor for the nfl. Go figure.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Rodney Harrison never tested positive for HGH. He was just backed into a corner through evidence and admitted, leading to the suspension in 2007.

Not so coincidentally, Tomase followed that up with the story about Reds Sox losing because of players eating fried chicken and drinking beer in the locker room.

I didn't know Jon Tomase became a sports writer for the Baltimore Sun

murderer and cheater yet thanks god for it all...love it

I'm shocked and appalled. Next thing you're going to tell me that Suggs didn't come back from a torn achilles in 6 months due to a Wolverine-like healing factor.

You're right. the "FDA approval" langugage used by some companies who market this stuff only refers to meeting FDA guidelines for safety.

Those claims are made up. The FDA doesn't regulate the safety of any supplement unless there is a critical mass of deaths or serious medical issues, such as happened with Ephedra and other amphetamine-containing supplements.

Who did Ray Lewis murder?

I don't know the guys name..but i do know the facts.

-disposed of his white suit the night of the murder...witnesses said they saw blood on him when leaving..police never found the suit. yeah like lewis didn't know where it was....

-lied to the feds/police about his involvement. If you have to lie to the police in a murder investigation..you have something to do with it.

Ok this clears it up.
When he was looking to sky and tearfully thanking "Father", it was his HGH dealer, AKA Father, he was thanking.

Seriously? You are accusing him of murder but can't name the guy?

Lewis was with friends who got into an altercation and one of them stabbed a guy who died from the injuries. An overzealous prosecutor tried to go after Lewis and Lewis lied and obstructed the case. He never murdered anyone but his crime in obstructing the case was pretty heinous nonetheless and he is going to have to live with that, hopefully it haunts him. You can call him whatever names you wish for being a scumbag but you can't call him a murderer because he never murdered anyone. Imo the prosecutor would have gotten Lewis to assist them and name the murderer if he hadn't been publicity hungry and politically ambitious and gone after a guy because of his NFL name recognition. Basically they all screwed it up but that still in no way excuses Lewis for covering for his friend.

My point is that this thread is being done in the context of a Patriots loss to Baltimore and people are putting asteriks up etc...., that's sour grapes and no different than the fans of opposing teams who do the same garbage to the Patriots. They look like douchebags and so do we when we engage in the same kind of rhetoric.

It's a Pats site and posters are trying to be funny. Not the same as going outside Patsfans to a national football site and whining about asterisks.
