What's the Opinion on Brady's Kick Slide?

The ravens need to move on and worry about the next game. I'm sure he did not put his leg up on purpose. Pollard of all people needs to shut his pie hole. I hope they crash in the super bowl.

Welcome to the Board!

I agree with a lot of what you said, but I'm going to post my thoughts anyway :)

I think it was an awkward slide by Brady. You don't see anything like that very often. While my opinion was that it wasn't intentional, there is the possibility, however remote, that he meant to trip up Reed. Maybe it was one of those "I'm going to do this-No I'm not" type of split second decisions.

In any event it wasn't a smart move by Brady. He doesn't have the bulk that a Roethlisberger or a McNair have/had to do much damage with a move like that. He probably risked injuring himself more than anything.

The funny thing is that the Ravens, in general, and Pollard, in particular, have a problem with this. Here's a team that prides itself on being a physical, hard-hitting defense. A defense that plays to the edge of the rules and beyond, gets penalized for it, and keeps playing the same way. A defense that believes the league is targeting them for personal foul and helmet to helmet hits. Remember the WC game against the Colts when Pollard was flagged for a personal foul after hitting Reggie Wayne and then was flagged for taunting on the very next play?

Now, someone does something to them that may or may not have even been a cheap shot, barely makes any contact (Reed stepping on Brady's arm gets no mention) and Pollard's going to cry and make a big deal about it? I thought tough guys weren't supposed to do that.

What an absolute JOKE to hear that Brady's "slide/kick is being reviewed by league officials".

I want to know why the F#CK isn't Bernard Pollard being investigated by the league for all these serious injuries he's been involved with giving to the Patriots' top players YEAR after YEAR. I REFUSE to believe that this is just a coincidence. Must be some type of bounty system going on with him and someone outside the team. That piece of s#!t goes into tackles with the intention to kill/seriously injure while trying to make it look clean. It's disgusting to see this guy get away with it too.

Since he didn't even get the 1st down, it stunk and he should remove it from his bag of tricks.

I'm good with it. Too many times these defenders try to take a cheap shot as the QB is sliding while acting like they were avoiding it. Notice how Reed landed almost on top of Brady. He shouldn't have been anywhere close to him but was trying to intimidate Brady. Brady gave it right back to him. If Reed was where he was supposed to be, which is far away from the sliding QB, this isn't an issue.

Brady is our QB, but come on, that was cheap. Helmet to helmet collisions are unavoidable because of how the offensive players duck their head down at the last second. I didn't see any Raven yesterday deliberately try to throw a cheap shot at any of our players. But what Brady did was cheap. He knew Ed was coming and stuck his cleats into Ed's legs.

If this was another teams player doing to McCourty, we'd all be up in arms.

Since when does the NFL front office investigate plays that Bernard Pollard thinks are deserving of a fine? But maybe that's the way to go. The FBI hires elite hackers to help them track and outsmart illegal computer activity and threats to national security. Who better than Bernard Pollard to identify extremely dangerous plays meant to intentionally injure opponents?

it was pretty pathetic because it was neither here nor there.......it appeared to be a meager attempt.......but it was an attempt nonetheless.......pretty much in line with the rest of the game that brady played

the only regret will be that if he is fined, at least he should have made it worth it by actually nailing him in the jewels

After watching the gif over and over, I don't have a single problem with what Brady did. Reed never slows up and only jumps out of the way when he notices Brady's foot in the air. QB's are in a pretty defenseless position when they slide, but defenders constantly push the line by still making contact and claiming they couldn't get out of the way. If QB's did this more often, more defenders will think twice before barreling in at the QB late when he slides.

well.......if that was the case, then brady stupidly prevented a 15 yard penalty from happening.....if he is that averse to getting hit, then he is simply playing scared

Well, the voice of hypocrisy speaks, it must be wrong. Bernard Pollard Calls Tom Brady’s Slide ‘Bull Crap,’ Says ‘You’ve Got to Keep Them Legs Down’ (Video) | Baltimore Ravens | NESN.com He should have kick him in the jewels. And to anyone saying he should have taken the hit for a penaty. I'd like to see you take Ed Reed pummeling you (again) with only QB gear on.

If Bernard Pollard does not leave the field with a devastating injury next time we play against him, then I have no more respect for this team. The guy should be targeted and hit by someone every play he is out there. I don't care how many penalties we get. Not talking bounty here, I'm talking take a damn contract out on him.

What the hell is wrong with people? Brady should let Ed Reed hit him. Putting your leg up when you have a defensive player bearing down on you is a natural reaction. This is more ridiculous than complaining about a penalty when Terrel Suggs takes 3 steps and dives at Brady's knees and aims his elbow at it. Raven's are the dirtiest players in the league, so it is natural to think of self preservation. Most people on this board would have curled in a fetal position.

He's lucky the guy who he tried to kick in the crotch didn't beat him into a pulp. Cheap play.

I chalk it up to Brady being VERY unsure of himself when it comes to running with the football and to me it just looked like an awkward attempt at a slide while also trying to protect himself. Laying on your back it is instinct to try and put your foot up to keep someone from jumping on top of you. It's more reactionary than being on the offensive
Plus I have a hard time believing that Brady would be that obvious and try to kick someone while he is the focus of the play (with tons of eyes on him) in a championship game.

Not to mention his other attempt at a run had him running into the Ref. He's just not comfortable running where his usual rock solid decision making becomes suspect.

Well all I have to say good for Brady-My balls or yours damn right my leg would go up like that too

(of course me being female I don't have any balls to protect) ;)

I just looked at the GIF someone posted and it looks like a COMPLETELY NORMAL SLIDE. When Ed Reed jumped over, he hit Brady's foot or leg and it made it go upward even more than Brady intended. It's all blown out of proportion anyway.

Well, Brady has apologized to Reed...

I'm sure that won't let anyone stop them from saying what a whiny crybaby Brady is.

my opinion? Who cares...pollard cheap shots or trys to every game...give it back every now and then

Wish they threw the flag so the clock woulda stopped lol
