Falcons are a softer team than the 49ers, so I'll take Atlanta.

The trick with handling the Niners is sustaining their monstrous pass-rush (easier said than done). If you can contain the two Smiths (Justin and Aldon), their secondary doesn’t scare me that much. If we can keep Brady upright, we can manage their defense (I think the last game against them showed we can pile up points if we get them tired and in soft zone coverage).

On the other side of the ball, I don’t see Kaepernick pulling his antelope tricks on us like he just did on the Packers. We have a better run defense, and the read option gimmicks don’t fly on our front 7 (anyone remembers the Broncos/Tebow last year with their read option stuff? – he kept on running into a wall).

BUT, unlike Tebow, the Skipper from San Fran has a canon for an arm, and can launch these missiles which will expose our secondary (with or without Talib/Dennard).

Again, I believe the ultimate key to sustaining the Niners, is our O-line protecting Brady.

Having said that, I will take the Falcons over the Niners any day. I like our chances against the Falcons much better, and Matt Ryan will choke on the big stage – if he’s even lucky enough to get pass the Niners.

Most and foremost: let’s worry about the Ravens first.

It's hard to say. If we do get past the Ravens either will be considerably harder than Houston or Bmore. But I still think we would be favored in either scenario. This week's "Seattle Seahawks" are the 49ers and the Falcons aren't getting any credit for ousting the original binky, just because they made it look tough at the end. But I think the Falcons have been the more consistent and well rounded team over the course of the season. Neither defense has impressed me lately but both offenses can be very dangerous. It's a tough call since especially since we haven't faced ATL. I say bring either of them on, barring fluky plays or rain we should not lose to anybody IMO.

The 49ers are almost 4 point favorites against the Falcons in the NFCCG. I don't like the position the 49ers are in with a rookie QB going into the hostile Georgia Dome. They can beat Atlanta. Atlanta has to love how nobody's giving them a shot in their house. Talk aboout disrespect!

Rain?

Rain makes it sloppy, and from my memory I can only recall one game that we impressed in the rain - 2004 against Bmore, but they were a bad team that year and we were the best. Otherwise rain and wind has seemed to hamper us.

With the team we currently have and being a 9.5 favorite, I feel fair conditions or snow is the best option.

Kaeparnick is so good with the fakes...I often dont know if he has the ball in his hands or if its a handoff to Gore. When there's that split second of doubt of just "where" the ball is for the defense, it has disastrous consequences--its either a 50 yard run or a 50 yard bomb to Moss--and they do both so well. Kap throws some frozen ropes out there...Crabtree is amazing after the catch too.

Jim Harbaugh takes risks BB may not even take, and that's what scares me.

Defensively they can shut down our relatively slower WR corps.

Brady and our OL have to have the game of their lives to beat em---TFB is due for a great SB game

Oh, for that game. You mentioned it in the same sentence as ATL and SF, which would only be in the SB in NO.

I totally agree with you. Of course Atlanta is the team I'd rather face in the SB. But the thought of Brady winning his 4th SB against the team he rooted for as a kid would be priceless!

Oh yeah I should have clarified that, what I meant to say was that against any remaining opponent I'd be confident as long as those factors didn't play a part.

This isn't even a question.

That Niners team is in another class. If by some miracle Atlanta can win on their home turf this weekend, whoever emerges from the AFC will have dodged a huge bullet.

First, let's get by the Ravens.. I think we match up better against the Falcons but I wouldn't mind knocking a second Harbaugh boy down another notch...

I really don't want any part of the 49ers. We can win a shoot out, I think, with Atlanta and an inconsistent Matt Flynn (not to mention questionable coaching), but a suffocating D with a mobile QB would be hard for us to overcome in the SB, IMHO. Go Atlanta (who I think is going to lose to SF anyway)!

Another reason not to want SF, the brotherly sharing of info between John and Jim. Though it would be a nice treat to knock off the brothers in consecutive games.

Can you imagine the Harbaugh butthurt?

Oh god that entire family would be trashed by Bill
