The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

The KC Chiefs requested permission to interview Jets Asst. HC/Linebackers coach Bob Sutton...and hired him as their DC. Rex's guys are scattering.

...

Starting to look like Rex will have all the control he could possibly want ...

Sounds like Westhoff is on Francesa now.

LOL, downplaying the Tebow factor: "There were plenty of other mistakes we had besides Tim Tebow." Oh ....

Seems to have a lot of respect for how Tebow goes about his business.

Rumor now has it if Rob can't find a DC job (and it's been more than 5 minutes since he was out of work) he may join his evil twin in the swamp. Since Thurman has already been named as DC and Rob would need cover of title promotion to cover being left to join his brothers staff, this would seem to be his new gig.

So, the Jets have fired their GM and OC, their ST coach has retired, their DC failed to renew his contract and signed with a divisional rival, and they've lost their Asst HC/LB coach to another AFC team.

I assume that Woody has the following organizational structure in mind:

GM: Michelle Ryan. Rex can kiss her feet.
Coach: Rex Ryan. Hey, continuity is good.
OC: Payton Ryan. With a name like Payton, he's got to be an offensive genius - maybe twice over.
DC: Rob Ryan. The two brothers can publicly fight over who's defense it really is.
ST coach: Seth Ryan.

Weshoff is doing a great job of throwing people under the bus without actually throwing anyone under the bus. Ryan should listen to this interview later, and learn from it.

There's got to be a spot for Fireman Ed in there somewhere.

What better way to tearfully welcome him back than by making him a coach.

He can be the QB coach and be reunited with his buddy Sanchez. :D I forgot to mention that the Jets also fired Matt Cavenaugh. Man, that's a lot of turnover.

man, I just flew in from Vegas...and boy...are my arms tired!..

so, the whole flight the topic was...you guessed it...the Jets SUCK...oh how they suck...they suck so much...how much, Joe...how much????...they suck so much that last week they stranded the entire fleet of Goodyear blimps....

thank you, ladies and germs...I'm here all week, try the pan fried trout....

So they fired everybody but the head stooge.:D

Hey, I'm kinda new to your wonderful site. But I got a question. This Jets thing...

Has this been going on as a long standing division rivalry, or is this mostly because of Rex Ryan?

I don't care about this thing y'all call football up here, so I really don't know. But, the Jets have been a joke since the latest "re-alignment" right? 2002, when we went to 4 divisions.....

Or do I have that wrong?

You apparently missed the "Border Wars" in the 90s where the perfidious Jets stole our HC on the eve of our SuperBowl appearance, followed by a since outlawed "poison pill" contract stealing star RB Curtis Martin.

In decades prior to this the Jets cost the Pats playoff opportunities by beating them in the last game. Earlier still, Joe Willie Namath used the Patriots to pad his abysmal passing stats.

I knew about the Parcells/Belichick thing. Forgot about the Curtis Martin drama.

Ok, this is what I didn't know. The Jets never really challenged for the division right? They just knocked that Pats out of contention?

Hey...... I'm asking because I want to know, not because I think I do.

The Jets were founded in 1959, and originally were named the Titans. Amazingly, Jets suckage began in 1790.

Jets' suckage is such that it defies the laws of science.

Well there was this other little thing known as Spygate; you may not have heard of it since it didn't get much publicity.

:violent:

Anyway, do you remember just which team it was who turned the Pats in?

And it was something that many teams did, INCLUDING the Rats who did it in Foxboro the previous season, but all the Pats did was make them stop.

New York-Boston has always been a natural rivalry. But things certainly intensified after Bill Parcells left the Pats after the 1996 Super Bowl and eventually snuck his way on as HC of the Jets (initially hired as a "consultant" to get around being enjoined from taking a new HC job, with BB in line to be the HC), after the Jets signed Curtis Martin away from the Pats, after and after BB got cold feet about succeed Parcells in NY and bolted to Foxboro. Add in Mangini bolting the Pats for the Jets and then trying to create his own little facsimile of a Manginified "Patriot Way" in New York and the Spygate saga, and I'd say that Rex has just been the cherry on top of the whole smorgasbord.
