Anybody Else have a Bad feeling??

Not in the least.

I have a bad feeling because of the OP's vibe. I was fine until then. We sound like rich old men who are afraid to lose their fortune. We as a fan base have to overcome this fear of losing and show some faith. Other fan bases have a stronger belief in a lot less talented teams. We're too reasonable and logical sometimes. Sometimes you just have to throw all that out the window and believe in your guys for no other reason than just the simple fact you choose to believe in them. Blinders are good this time a year!

I share your underlying sentiment, but I also feel that the bar is a little higher in this instance. We just don't know how many more years of Tom Brady at the top of his game we are going to be able to enjoy.

So, yeah, I guess I have a little trouble putting on my blinders and just enjoying this as much as I should as a fan. TB's already had two more swipes at the Gold Ring of NFL immortality that would come with matching Bradshaw and Montana with a Fourth SB ring and we don't know how many more we can expect; I guess that does color things for me and limits my enjoyment of "the moment," as much as I wish it didn't.

Word of advice: stay away from Gameday Threads if you're going to allow the OP's vibe bother you. He is a sackless D-Bag that makes endless proclamations like "That's it, game over" or "Season is done" or "<Player Name> is garbage, they should bench him now." Usually he's on a roll before the mid point of the first quarter!

So, it's no surprise that he's already whining about having a "bad feeling". He probably wakes up with one every day. Not the kind of guy you want standing next to you in a tough spot, that's for sure.

True no doubt, but apparently he's not alone.... is there a longer thread around? something like 6,000 views. he's probably no more than pessimistic optimist.

Nervousness is normal. But allowing that to interfere with your enjoyment of the moment is just silly. This is WHY we watch. Our team is on a quest to win the Superbowl Championship.

There are no guarantees. There are only 53 men, with one purpose, committed, and hungry to achieve football immortality. I would NEVER place money against Brady in a situation like this. He wants it as bad as anyone, and he has the talent, the skills, and the experience to get the job done!!

Let's go Patriots!! BELIEVE!!!

Bunch of Lou Holtzes around hear playing up the opponent, that puts their pants on the same way we do.

Hogwash.

I watched the replay of the Pats-Texans game last night looking form ways to be worried.

Not worried at all.

Their defense has to abandon all of their fundamental principles to contain our offense, unless we uncharacteristically screw it up.

They love to play man coverage. Brady owns it.

They love to blitz. Brady owns it.

They blitz with linebackers, leaving gaps in the middle of the field. We own the middle of the field with quick-hitting routes that should develop faster than the blitz can get there.

They rely on the pass rush. Our up-tempo offense wears out pass rushes.

On the other side of the ball, our D-line gave their pro-bowler O-linemen fits all game long, and now we have Chandler Jones healthier and Jermaine Cunningham to give fresh legs late.

I just cannot make myself worry. Sorry.

What if they completely change their gameplan! IE ZOne coverage

Then hopefully Brady has prepared for it and uses a lot of pre snap movement to diagnose the coverage. I'm more worried about the Texans defense disguising well on top of the OL's ability to control JJ Watt and Brooks Reed.

We will be prepared for that.

It would actually be great if they try to abandon all of their principles, since if they try to execute a game plan unlike any they have pulled off before, and with personnel that has been chosen and groomed to play a different way, then they will not be as good at it as teams who were crafted to play that way. In other words, their zones will be softer and have bigger gaps.

They need to be creative in disguising where their blitzes are coming from and they need to hope that JJ Watt delivers a strip sack or two and a forced fumble or two. It's possible, but I do not see us ignoring Watt at all. Dude's a beast. When he forced the Woodhead fumble that Lloyd recovered, I don't think any back in the league could have held onto the ball on that play.

Contain Watt and make Schaub make plays instead of Foster, and this game is ours.

I hope Brady doesn't try and "force it to gronk"

Another thing, people forget, Brady was not sharp at the start of that Houston game last month. This was shown on the replay. He then settled into HOF status after lol

It seems like Brady either starts out terrible or on fire. If he starts off bad, maybe hand it off a couple times, short passes to the runningbacks.

And BB got Lloyd to help with the loss of Moss a few years ago. I do realize that Lloyd isn't the replacement for Moss, but, is another option for Brady to target.

I get a bad feeling about other peoples so called "bad feelings" about upcoming games.

They show up and they play. If your team loses you think about the next season. This team was one win away from the number 1 seed and playing tremendous football. They may have a shot at another SB. We'll see if they can do it.

Maybe what this fan base needs is a decade of mediocrity. Perennial 8-8 teams where you look forward to a 2 or 3 game winning streak and maybe having a shot at a wild card slot.

Think about that, then appreciate what we actually have going onto the field Sunday.

Bad feelings, sheeesh!

I just hate when everyone is on board with the patriots winning..

Yeah, it's so weird how the overwhelming majority of fans posting on the New England Patriot fan website is confident their team will win. :D

I so rarely post but felt the urge here. The confidence I'm seeing by the vast majority of friends and fellow Patriot backers seems excessive. I don't have the bad feeling and think we will pull this game out but expect it to be extremely competitive. We won't keep JJ off the stat sheet in this second meeting and have to hope a strip sack and recovery are avoided. Defensively this team is going to be far better than last month.

Frankly I am less concerned about our defense in this game. We will stop their rush attack and keep Arian under 100. Kubiak is calling extremely conservative plays and their offense is predicated on play action in manageable 3rd down situations. If he has the guts to go downfield on 1st down we are going to be tested. I just don't see that happening though. They had success running against a decent defense last week but knew their own D could keep points off the board. That won't be the case with the Patriots. If we limit Arian to a low ypc on early downs which I expect us to, our defense will be at its "bend but don't break" best. If Kubiak alters their philosophy and let's Schaub fling it on 1st down, it is going to be a nervous one throughout.

Oh it will be a much close game and could come down to the 4th qtr...but lets hope not

""Houston scares the hell out of me..""

I don't know where that was posted but you are too easily scared -- relax, ok?
Put another way, there are 4 teams that came from the Wild Card round: GB, Sea, Balt and Hou.
Which one would you rather the Patriots have to play/most scared of this weekend? A GB team with a high level QB and playing hot? A Seattle team that is playing by far their best ball and actually is favored to beat the #1 seed if played on a neutral site. Baltimore with their playoff experience, motivation due to their MLB retiring (what was his name?), and their beat down style of football, familiarity with TFB. Or Houston who is playing, arguably, their worst football of the season, said their game a few weeks ago at Foxboro was the game of their franchise and got walloped, with everything on the line at Indy they got bested not too difficultly, and barely beat what looked to be the worst offense to be in the playoffs in several years, Cincy.
Again, who makes you worry the most?? Who would you rather the Patriots match up against for the divisional round?
The Patriots got their best matchup possible for the Wild Card round. No disrespect to Houston because they are good enough to win but even Houston fans must see how their team is not firing on all cylinders for the better part of 5 weeks. Let's hope they don't find their groove this Sunday :D

For my sake I hope you are correct.

An incredible amount of confidence from the media and other fans nationwide on the Pats side(rightfully so).

People on this message board seem to be very knowledgeable and realistic, anyways Go Texans!

Any given Sunday, may the best team THAT DAY win. That is all I am going to say after reading everyone's post on this thread. I am a Texans fan, your team is a great one. Each and everyone of you (for the most part) have excellent football knowledge. With that said, what is stopping the Texans from having a miracle game (Giants 2007) ? Like I said, any given Sunday, especially when our backs are against the wall and no one has faith in us.

I wish you all the best of luck this Sunday and my hats off to you for being one of the greatest teams in the history of the NFL. The Texans have the hardest game of their franchise history coming up, you better believe they are ready. Everyone here in Houston knows that this is going to be the game that shows our true colors. The odds are tremendously against us and I am VERY anxious to see what happens. If we do win, I can promise you the City of Houston is going to blow up. Your city, well, it'll be another walk in the park if you win. And yes, I am jealous :p
