Say Bye - Patriots/49'ers Super Bowl

I think the pats will beat Cinncy or Huston but after that theres a rather large speed bump in the road called Denver. As i read the posts on here i can't believe how dismissive people are about playing Denver in Denver. I think the pats have only won there twice in over thirty (30) years.

Our last 3 games against them is what gives a lot of fans like myself confidence going into a potential AFCCG in Denver. Yes I'm aware of our recent struggles in Denver. I think it had more to do with Shanahan vs BB than Denver just being flat out better than us. Shanahan's one of the only coaches who can go tick for tack with BB. We barely beat his Redskins in Washington last year. Shanahan isn't coaching Denver anymore. John Foxx & Jack Del Rio are both great but don't scare me. The NFC playoffs is going to be very interesting. I've no idea who's going to come out of there. I can see ATL,SF,GB or Seattle coming out of the NFC. A GB vs SF rematch is going to be like New Orleans vs SF last year. That game is going to get ugly!

Football PLAYERS take it "one game at a time"...but football FANS don't need to dot that.

Whattaya think it's bad luck to discuss future scenarios?

There's no such thing as a jinx in case you didn't know.

And football fans can't make jokes anymore? *facepalm*

I think Denver is a good team with a great regular season QB. I think the Patriots are a better overall team with a much better playoff QB. I'd be saying the same thing if Aaron Rodgers and the Packers were in the AFC and playing in Denver. He's a better QB than Manning also.

I actually think the Packers or Falcons will likely beat the 49ers in the playoffs. I just don't see them as the dominate team everyone else do. In addition, I don't think they are as good when they defeated GB earlier in the year...In the AFC, it will be either Denver or NE unless Houston or Baltimore decides to show up which is possible. The Pats will not have an easy road regardless. The AFC is so much stronger this year in terms of the playoff contenders.

If the Patriots reach the SB game, my preference would be against,

Redskins
Vikings
Falcons
Packers
Niners
Seahawks (least favorable)

Tom Brady hoisting a Lombardi while Richard Sherman expresses his angst on Twitter would be a lovely sight.

That said, Seattle scares me the same way the Giants do/did. Any team with a defense that explosive scares me. They are for real.

Brady will twitter "U mad bro?"

:rocker:

Living in the DC area, I've been impressed watching RGIII. I basically agree with your list, but I'd switch the Vikings with the Redskins. I think that BB would have an easier time devising a way to stop Peterson, than to stop RGIII.

Credit Seattle for doing what they have done, however, they haven't done anywhere near enough to warrant "fear". Over the last 10 weeks they have walloped a sorry Jets team, walloped a sorry Arizona team and walloped a sorry Buffalo team. They got the 9ers at the perfect time -- after the meat grinder of the game with the Patriots but lost the first meeting. Other than that they squeaked by Chi, they squeaked by St Louis, they lost to Miami, they played pretty good against Minn and lost to Detroit. This is a team with a new QB and Pete Carroll as a HC. Afraid of Seattle? You people scare way too easy.....

At least the farkin Giants aren't in it again! :D

I want the Giants in the playoffs and making it to the SB (theoretically speaking). Nothing more I'd love than to see the Patriots get a crack at them again. The thing would be a slaughter in the first quarter and the thing would be completely out of reach by half time. They got lucky! the first time. They did what they had to (just enough) the second time. This time? This time the friggin Patriots would be like a jail break of hungry pissed off lions against a herd of sheep.

The AFC is pretty clear. It's Denver or NE. I'd be shocked to see another team come out of there.

The NFC is much more interesting competition-wise. Color me delusional, but I think that this is Atlanta's year. I'm not sold on the 49ers at all. I think GB will probably beat Minny and then go on to beat SF, then meets ATL in the championship game and ATL takes it in what will probably be an awesome game.

Everybody is suspicious of the Falcons based on previous history and rightly so. I think they'll be out to prove something this year.

NE-ATL superbowl is my prediction.

Agree completely. Have no idea what people see in the Hawks that scares them so much. Let's see how that juggernaut handles RGIII and 25 degree weather in DC this weekend. One and done.....

Seahawks #1 defense. Wilson is underrated, because of RG3 hype.
predictions: Seahawks go to round 2.

From ProFootballWeekly:

ProFootballWeekly.com - Smith's return for 49ers is far from a given

49ers are going to have a very rough time of it if Justin Smith is out, or even if he plays but is limited with his arm. Aldon Smith hasn't had a sack since Justin got hurt. The 49ers' defense struggled tremendously against the Pats and Seahawks without him, and wasn't all that overwhelming against lowly Arizona.

Agreed. I am a little nervous...

Here's how I see it.

First, the Pats have to stay focused and get past whomever they play in the Division round. The Pats haven't come out too well in two of their last three first playoff games at home. I'm very confident that their sense of urgency is great and that they will come out on top, but they still "have to play the game."

Second, barring the unexpected, they have to figure out how to win a game in Denver at altitude in January; unfortunately, this time Brady won't be up against Jake Plummer, but one of the GOAT's, who has done much better against the Pats since 2006. I'm confident that the Pats are the better team, but I don't think this is a slam dunk.

As for SF. We came out flat in Foxboro, put on a furious come back and then ran out of steam after the ST deflated everybody by giving up that big return. I think we'd beat them in the SB. But there's a long way to New Orleans.

As for SF. Belichick doesn't lose to teams he plays a second time in a season after a loss. But, there's a long road to New Orleans.

Um, the Giants last year?

But I agree, we'll deal with that later.

I was speaking with my sometimes business partner Mr Wu about the 9ers. He got very excited and all he would say was "San Francisco ++++sucker! San Francisco ++++sucker!" over and over. Guess he doesn't like the 9ers.

Everyone is jumping on the Seattle band wagon and If they managed to earn a bye I would definitely pick them from the NFC. But I just don't see a rookie beating 3 home teams in a row and going to the big dance. San Fran, Seattle, Atlanta or greenbay I could see going to the super bowl. The AFC is a 2 dog fight.

I am going to be different and say Green Bay VS New England Super Bowl XLVII.
