Who else is bummed out tomorrow is the last regular Sunday of the season?

Every year it flies by so fast, and whatever happens in the next few weeks, the NFL season will be over in about a month. Such a bummer. No other sport compares.

Bummed that football will be over soon as well. Basketball is unwatchable now for some reason.

But I wouldn't be nearly so bummed if we controlled our own destiny and were playing tomorrow for good shot at a bye or HFA , without having to rely on help from the horrible Chiefs and the friggin Colts. Both those games are being shown in my market, so barring a miracle of sorts, tomorrow is going to make for a lousy last week of the regular season.

Go Colts!

I am always bummed out this time of year. The post-holiday lull coupled with the end of football makes for a lousy time for me. I live for the end of summer and the season of fall.

This year may be even worse with no NHL hockey. I won't start feeling normal again until the March Madness tournament and the spring which brings the draft + the start of baseball.

It seems like the last few regular seasons have gone by fast. I'm sure if the Pats had a losing record that the season would drag on.

I feel bummed out as today is the last day of my christmas vacation. A bye would be a nice way to end it...:singing:

the beauty of this sport is the fact that it is so beautiful because it's so ... pretty limited since it only lasts from September to December (January is not certain that your team plays...) and August honestly i do not consider it a 'real' month. .. but there are some beauties: week.1 i love it ! as I love the first week of play-offs (wild card), the draft also is so nice ... so I would not change anything ... the NFL is so beautiful as it is ...

Agree....the end of the NFL regular season is a slight bummer....but I will get over that fast because we are in the playoffs baby!! But, generally this time of year when the NFL winds down as does college football....it is a bit of a downer....GO PATS!

see even if denver beats pats this year..i will still watch rest of playoffs...either way they aren't going to beat the NFC team going to the SB if they make it

I remember the same thing being said about the NFC team at the start of the 2001 playoffs.

The NFL has it right. They leave us wanting just a little more. I'm so glad they didn't go to an 18 game regular season (player safety mainly) and I hope they don't go the foolish way of the NBA and let half the teams into the postseason, but those are other discussions so let's save them for another thread.

In general, though, I'm ready for the Playoffs (at least, I'm "ready" as a viewer...I wouldn't last a nanosecond on the field :) ).

By the end of the day, 32 teams will have sorted themselves out over the course of 256 games; in general, as Tuna is fond of saying, they are what their records say they are. The Pats will (hopefully) be a 12--4 team. IMO, that's what they are. Yes, they had some bad officiating go against them, but so did a lot of other teams and, let's be honest, they also didn't make plays when they had to make them earlier in the year and just plain didn't show up until the third quarter of the Arizona game. So. 12--4; the rest is a bunch of woulda-coulda-shoulda's.

I hope very much that Indy plays its guts out for Pagano and beats Houston; in fact, I'm going to predict that that will happen. I'd like to think that there's a chance that KC will win in Denver, but I'd also like to think I might win the Powerball jackpot the next time it's a hundred million bucks... :singing:

If we end up having to go to Denver...well, it is what it is, as another coach is fond of saying.

I love the game, but the Pats' success has diminished the regular season somewhat for me. It seems like many of the years, the first half of the season is hoping a disaster does not happen, and then the second half playing for a bye. It feels like the season does not start until the playoffs.

As a spoiled Pats fan, I just need 1 more SUPER BOWL VICTORY...getting through the off-season will be much easier if we take home the Lombrady trophy this year...that's what I asked for for Christmas! I don't think I can deal with another painful loss in the playoffs :(

SB42 has almost made me immune to big losses. Last year when we lost, I was sad, but I was ok. Losing doesn't hurt as much for me now.

This winter is going to be long.. no hockey too..

It's like an ambiguous loss

It sucks when the season is truly over, but sucks way way more with a superbowl loss. The last 2 losses equated heartburn for a week for me.

That's why they are gonna take it home this year. I'm all out of Pepcid AC.

Further trying to seel your award for most negative poster of the year I see

'Tis a bittersweet time of year for sure. To me watching Tom Brady and the New England Patriots play is grand entertainment of the highest order. Nothing else on TV comes close (save the Bruins fighting for the Cup or the Celtics in the Finals). And when the season is ending...this probably sounds sappy but remember the final days of the school year when you were younger? Happy about the festivities at the end, but that feeling just under the surface that this particular time, with these particular people, will never happen again..

(OK, yikes, so anyone know a good therapist? Apparently I have some issues to work through!

I really don't understand why everytime the best part of the whole season comes up (the playoffs) people start looking AHEAD to the season being over and getting sad about.

How about just enjoying the next month? You waited all year to get to this part

Also, this is why the NFL is great. It leaves you wanting more.

LOL, anyone else see the irony here? Glad you are so optomistic Pete!

lol! Well said.

I have mixed reactions that today is the last game:
- sad that regular season is going to be over - because you lose the ability to put away losses and look forward for the next game.
- eager that playoff are starting next week
- elated that we are in the playoffs. Again.
- given last two games, nervous to see how we do today.

Hoping for a solid W with no injuries to anyone. :)
