Great stuff.

I just can't stop watching those highlight videos with Gil's epic calls. That one against the Ravens in the 2011 AFC Championship was pure epic-ness.

There are fans who will denigrate Gino and Gil, but in the 80's and 90's when this team was blacked out more than it was not, they were a lifeline..

I used to work on every sunday and had my headphones around my neck so I could get most of the game or the highlights.. those guys were good. Not flashy, just good solic broadcasts that came alive in those times of less technology.

I didn't even make it 30 seconds into the program before goosebumps set in!

Interesting hearing Gil talk about Troy Brown not being active for the Super Bowl with the Packers (injury?) and wondering if he would have made a difference on the Desmond Howard KO RT touchdown.

Yes Troy was hurt I believe the injury happened in practice leading up to the game but I am not certain on that but he was hurt. To take Gils point further too the return went right through the lane that Troy would have been covering and given how truly clutch Troy was is there really much question that he would have made a tackle or at least had his lane covered forcing the run elsewhere.

I think the real question is would that have changed the outcome and to be honest I am not sure it would have. It certainly could have as that was a momentum killing play that ended it for us but I think it just would have prolonged the game but That was Farve and the Packers time our time would come and more accurately Troy's time would come!

It was interesting how much, and how well both of them spoke about Chuck Fairbanks. They gave the impression that they thought the team had really turned the corner with him, and the Patriots were headed for greater things.

Yup yup. No great revelations, just a lot of good revisiting. Like Shmessy said, it's like a history of the team. Good talk about the whole Brady-Bledose thing and Gino thinking if the Pats went 0-3 in '01 they would go with Brady. Mo Lewis took care of that.

One cool thing in those early BB/Brady era games: Hearing all the raucous cheering in big moments like the SB36 winning kick, the blocked kick return vs Pitt, etc. I think I read somewhere that either the Pats scouts or staff or even some assistant coaches would be in the same booth as Gil and Gino during the game; kind of fun.

You mean 91-93. Cause they didn't call one game together in the 80's. Gil didn't call a Pats game between 1980-1990. Gino was only in 88-90

My fav call of all time is the 96 AFCCG fumble by Stewart, recovered by Otis!! for the td! gives me chills everytime

Not only was Troy inactive due to injury, but so too was FB/STer/attitude-setter Sam Gash.
We could've really used both in that SB; and if Parcells hadn't traded him to Miami before the '93 season,
Irving Fryar too. That offense would've rivaled the Packers' (provided the OL could've held their own).

What a golden stroll down memory lane!

Started listening to Gil and Gino back in the 70s ("Plunkett shoots it long and deep to Vataha"). You know Gil a true Pats lover like some of us long standing fans when he admitted to weeping the moment we won SB36.
